      Literally hung up on my face multiple time (once mid sentence!), hold times are ridiculous, and they continuously mess up every time I need something fixed (like my address or a new credit card).
      They told me contradicting things on every call and then tried to gaslight me and tell me it’s my fault.
      **** this I’m so ******* done with s***** bank I hope they all rot in h*** at this rate.
      AVOID AT ALL COSTS

      go to *** or any other bank, i've been on the phone for 1 hr, had to reset the call 3 times. "not a valid number" but its legit the same number. go somewhere else, any bank better than m&t i need to move banks.

      Worst. Bank. Ever. And I've had some very bad banking experiences (looking at you, ***** *****...) But this company takes the cake. Hours on the phone to try and get online access to my account, worked once, failed the next time, rinse and repeat over and over. The mobile app seems to lock me out randomly for no reason. Then I have to call the fraud department, 50% of the time I get "we are experiencing technical difficulties please call back" I can't deposit checks with the mobile app, and since the transition, I have moved out of state, so being told "just go to your local branch office" is not helpful. Trying to manage my father's estate account, I was told "we don't know who the owner of that account is". It's like some high school business club decided to try running a bank for extra credit, and utter chaos ensued. These folks plain did not do the work to prepare for the transition, I've never seen anything like it my life. If you are unfortunate to have an account with them, my only advice is to grab your money (if they allow you access to it), run and don't look back.

      STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK! My bank was just absorbed by M&T and everyone in town - from individuals to the School District to businesses - are horrified and astounded by level of incompetence on display. People are being issued debit cards for closed accounts and not issued cards for their open accounts. Debit and credit cards aren't working. You have to give your SSN and PIN to set up online banking. Checks have the wrong account numbers printed on them. ***** won't reliably transfer $. Online banking delivers checks WEEKS late to utilities. This level of incompetence is unsafe.

      Nothing but problems since August of 2022. I never received the 3 debit cards they apparently mailed me. I finally had to beg someone to ship me a card via UPS so I could track it. It was supposed to take 1 - 2 days, but took 5 business days. Ridiculous. I have not had access to my debit card since 9/6/2022- it is now 10/10/2022 and I've had to use my credit cards for all transactions - and then I have to make sure i pay my CC bill everyday so I don't pay interest. Piss poor customer service when I call - no one answers and my pin they gave me is not working. The PIN # they sent me is not working...this is getting crazy. I can't get any resolutions to any of my problems with this bank.

      Worst mortgage company ever. I had them Pre pandemic. Want to make payments to your mortgage every paycheck? Can’t do it. Their system doesn’t allow for anything other than full payments. A day late on your payment? Better have two payments and the late fee amount to pay otherwise you will never get caught back up. I almost lost my house because I was late one month and count pay a double payment. I wanted to pay the payment that was due with the late fee but couldn’t because their system couldn’t accept anything other than full payments. Absolutely ridiculous.

      My experience with M&T Bank matches most opinions here. The online banking service is horrible. I tried to set up a bank to bank transfer so I could move my money to my ***** ***** account that has good online banking service so I could use the money. After 12 days M&T can still not figure out how to transfer money to a ** account. Their technical support is a joke. They open a ticket but the people working in their service department are so incompetent that they cannot understand why the transfer is not working. They tried several excuses like: "You entered the wrong routing number". Their Bank-to-Bank transfer setup is automatic I never entered a routing number. Then your ** account must be blocked... It's not I am using it every day. etc. they are desperately trying to find someone else to blame so they don't have to figure why their system is not working... I think it's time for M&T Bank to fire the entire IT department and start over with some competent people. I'm not sure who runs this show but definitely not performance based.

      This is a Merry-go-round... I have contacted M&T customer service multiple times about this issue without getting to anyone competent that could resolve the problem.
      There is no point in calling Customer Service again. They "open a ticket" but there is never any action or follow up on the ticket. That Bank is a total mess.

      Terrible customer service and bill pay payments not received by payees. The transition has been a terrible experience and it takes hours on the phone to try to reconcile issues. The local former peoples bank locations are struggling to help as they also have to wait on the phone for hours to try to help. A simple stop payment on 2 online bill payments took almost 3 hours by phone and the local bank manager couldn’t perform the simple task of stop payment. The money for one of the checks was out back in the account with NO notification - agent said payee returned the check. Not true as they are hounding me for payments that were due 2 and 3 weeks ago. How do you pay bills when online payments aren’t being received and still no actual checks after a month since the transition Totally unacceptable Not sure what to do next- maybe time to find a new bank

      I’m writing this review because I received a letter in the mail from this third party company which I never heard of. I called to find out who they were and was told that my information was involved a Security incident on 27 Oct 2021 to December 7 2021 and I’m being notified today 6 Oct 2022. I asked which company since you’re third party and they informed me that it was a M&T mortgage lender. I closed that loan in 2019 and no longer has any ties to this bank. I asked what services ******** Loan Services LLC provide and They told me they monitor escrow and everything to collections. I asked why are they monitoring a closed account? I also asked why do they have my information from 2019 and she couldn’t answer any of that. She told me that someone would call me back, as I informed her that I don’t understand why my information was still being used or monitored and now my information was stolen and I was informed a year later. This is unacceptable and not right. I’m leaving this review here because it sounds like M&T bank is doing shady business. I tried calling M&T bank only to be hung up twice.

      Disaster. The online platform looks like it's decades old. People's had the BEST online services where you could search transaction history for debits and credits, as well as see deposit ticket, mobile check images. All of our transaction histories were deleted. They paid one of my credit cards 3 different times. My monthly SS shows pending day of deposit. I have been with People's for over 40 yrs. I am in process of getting rid of it asap.
