      I am a very disgruntled 29 year People’s Bank customer who now is forced to deal with M&T bank. The transition has been a nightmare for me. Here are just a few of my complaints:
      Over Labor Day weekend when the merger took place we were traveling. Our new ATM’s were not working and there was no customer service when I called the number provided. The recorded message said they could answer my questions on Tuesday. Really? So they left me as a “new” customer to M&T essentially financially stranded.
      Every time I use my mobile banking, they send me a security code to input. Then it says my account is not recognized. I’ve changed my password so many times I’ve run out of password ideas.
      I find this security so fascinating as when I looked at my acct there was $400.00 in charges over 2 days for 2 vendors. So I got hacked. Never heard from the bank that there were suspect charges. Peoples would have texted me immediately to verify the charges.
      And to add insult to injury, I am out of an ATM card for 7 days, will have to change my card yet again on bills that automatically get taken out of my account, and am getting late fee charges since it’s the beginning of the new month. Peoples always offered a temp card.
      This is not a way to keep Ct residents who want to bank with a local Ct bank. If more people like myself leave this ridiculous bank, what will the impact have on layoffs, Ct business relations with the Ct community, the feel that we are banking in a branch that the staff has known me forever.
      So, I will be leaving to a big conglomerate bank such as ***** where I know they know what they are doing!

      POOR customer service. The transition from Peoples United Bank was awful, poorly planned and managed. The customer is the one who has to deal with these issues and M&T is making a clear statement that they do NOT care about the quality of service that previous People’s United customers.

      I am a former Peoples Bank (loved that bank) customer and the M & T mobile banking app (a month after the transition) is not allowing me to pay my bill. It gets me to the point of reviewing the payment, but when I click submit, it won’t process the payment. I even logged out and logged back in to try again and it didn’t work. This is online / mobile banking technology 101 and a month in to the new bank (given the high profile problems reported in the media), it’s troubling and frustrating to be dealing with issues like this.

      Transition after people’s takeover was actually pretty smooth for my account, however the mobile app requires a verification EVERY time I log on. It’s a joint account and my husband cannot log on because the verification comes to my phone and if I’m at work, I don’t see it right away and it’s only good for 10 minutes or so. I spent almost an hour on hold with tech dept. to remove one of the 3 forms of verification to add my husband’s cell and was told that cannot be done. Either me or him can have access, but not both? Dumbest **** ever, we’re taking our money elsewhere this weekend.

      This has by far been the worst banking experience I have ever had. M&T took over Peoples United Bank. It took 3 weeks to even gain access to my personal and BUSINESS accounts. I had a business credit card with Peoples which was canceled and did not have a replacement card in hand yet. I now have a new business card, but can not access it online. I AM BEING CHARGED INTEREST ON A CARD I CAN NOT EVEN MAKE A PAYMENT ON. There is no excuse for this poor transition. No one in customer care seems to know how to help and for whatever reason are unwilling to assist with the interest charges incurred. I have never made a late payment. To top this all off... I have no access to any of my previous statements from peoples. So doing business taxes will be a mess this year. Thank you M&T...

      Have had Rv financed thru them for 2 years. No service. No communication. No way to log in. Do not respond to written communication. I’m paid in full until September of 2023! Yet charge a late fee?? Refuse to give me a printout of payments... poor service... my loan amount never changes .. I can make a check for LOAN & one for PRINCIPAL.. all still goes to loan I’ve paid a year in advance for & interest accrues daily

      Called customer service for help. I haven’t been able to access my account in over a month. I was asked for the first 5 of my SS# and if I am a US citizen? How are oils I have an account otherwise? I am going to my state attorney.

      I went into M&T bank in West Haven, CT to speak to a representative in person. I was looking to change my account from regular checking to premier checking. The teller was new and didn’t know how to do it so referred me to the woman behind the other desk who helps new customers open accounts. I said hello, I would like to change to the type of account that offers free checks. She was EXTREMELY RUDE, she told me checks are not free and that I would need a $75,000 balance for a premier checking account. I had just looked on the website for the requirements. The website says $7,500 average daily balance in the checking or $25,000 combined in various eligible accounts. So was the woman wrong or the website wrong? Either way, she said it in a very demeaning way as if I could never afford to have a premier account, without even looking me up or seeing my balance. So now I’m calling customer service to find out and am on hold for 25 minutes so far and counting. Horrendous customer service I want to pull out all my money and go to a new bank based off of this incident.

      I hate this new bank (M&T) People United Bank is merging with or has merged with M and T bank and it has been a disaster. They are very inconsiderate (due to no temp cards after they deactivate your original card), inconvenient (not open on weekends and I have to go to teller for everything because there has been false submissions of my card), disorganized and full of false information. I’m really disappointed that I have to live this way. I am saddened that I can’t trust this bank I am really considering of leaving

      This merger has been a total disaster for me and countless others. I have a bank to bank transfer initiated prior to conversion that took the money out of my checking account, but never deposited it in my destination bank or account. Multiple attempts to get this resolved have yielded no results. I have now set up bank to bank transfers from my other financial institution to SUCK my money out of my checking account which is working perfect. But the initial transfer from September 1st is still missing. Along with this negative review I have filed a complaint with the CT Attorney General's office.
      As soon as I get this last issue resolved, all of my accounts will be closed and I will cease doing business with M & T Bank!
