If I could give a zero rating I would. I had an emergency c ************** were handling my Paid Family Leave benefits. Tax time came around & I had not received my ****. I had to call them 6 different times between them and my HR because ********* refused to acknowledge that they were responsible for it & kept putting it on my company. That got resolved & it was them. Then told to wait 10 business days to get it in the mail, never got it they said it mustve gotten lost so theyll send it back out. I waited another 10 still nothing. I called back reasonably annoyed and Was told it was never in the mail even though I was clearly told that it was they even admitted that. They try to tell me it was under a $600 threshold so they werent responsible to give me that information. Mind you this is my information I can request at any time. The lady said that she would put in a request to have it emailed to me because I am requesting it. That should be obvious at this point. I got a call back this morning after leaving lengthy messages on my case representative voicemail stating someone needs to call me back. She gave me the biggest attitude & actually told me she was not allowed to email it to me because it was under that threshold and she does not know how else to explain it to me & that she will have her supervisor call me. Within 10 minutes she called me back & stated that she was allowed to email it to me she just needed my email & then I got it in 3 minutes. The kicker is two Fridays ago because it took me a week to get her to call me back she herself left me a message stating that she was not able to email it to me but you call back & A different representative could Which makes no sense because she is the one assigned to my case. It has taken Nearly a month to get my paperwork that took minutes to deliver. My taxes are done yet on hold because my person needs this paper. I am recovering with a newborn & was blatantly lied to several times in hopes I would go away.

Horrible customer service. All the phone representatives are from *****. You can barely understand them. And you can't ask for a representative in *****************. You call and ask a question and get different answers from anybody that you speak to. And then they lie!!! They will say they didn't say that. It's trouble when you're trying to make financial decisions and you get this information from anybody you talk to. And I never get my statements or tax documents on time from this company even after calling multiple times. The same old story... They'll be posted by the end of the day. They are in the mail to you. I can't wait to finalize my account with them!

I am trying to roll over my 403(b) account into another account. I have called customer service only to speak with a very rude, condescending individual by the name of ****. My agent refuses to help and has simply stated that he simply does not get involved with roll over forms and told me to call the call center. I have requested this paper form a month ago and have not received anything. They are simply refusing to mail me this form. Everything that everyone is saying in this thread is absolutely true and I am experiencing it right now. In 2023, a transfer should be electronic, easy and quick. They simply lie and delay everything until you give up. Their practice is simply unethical and dishonest. I really hope all these complains brings about some sort of change. They simply keep your money hostage. At this point I am writing e-mails to all the higher *** and I would advice that you write e-mails and bring this to the attention of your HR department.

I think I'm being scammed. No tax forms available, no customer service available. The website doesn't work either. Was on hold for 45 minutes and they hung up. now I have been on hold for 30 minutes and nothing. I guess my next step is calling the **** By the looks of the other reviews, it seems they are a scam. I'm ****** that I'm being forced to give them even one star.

The worse. Impossible to communicate with them. One has to wait for hours before one agent anwers. There is a chat but no one answers... They promised the tax forms to be available around the 20th of January, then they changed to the end of January As of the 30th, nothing is there yet. All the other investment companies have sent their tax forms by mid-January. Equitable is going to wait until the very last day of January. It's awful.

Absolutely terrible, unethical company.Helping my wife roll over her 403b account and it honestly feels like they are doing everything they legally can do to make this process impossible.Equitable was caught being predatory at *********************** by cold emailing teaching pretending to be officially affiliated with the school district, which they were not.Warning emails were sent from the administration to not trust Equitable and that they were misrepresenting themselves as being employer-sanctioned, but really found the email addresses of unsuspecting teachers online and tried to take advantage of them not knowing.I have a lot of experience working with financial institutions, but Equitable is astonishingly unhelpful and purposely buries the process of how to get your money deep inside layers of red tape.I can't express enough how much you should stay far, far away from this company at all costs. Dishonest, extremely difficult to work with - STAY AWAY!

I have never been motivated to review a company until dealing with Equitable. I moved money out of 5 different accounts after retiring from teaching, and Equitable was hands down the worst for customer service and ability to handle my money.
I honestly believe they have a lack of system in place to make it so difficult for people to withdraw their money that they give up and leave it in, which targets older individuals without the support, technical savvy or energy to put up a fight to get their money out.
I got misinformation and no information which caused me to submit a form more than one time (the first one expired before they told me what was missing - only informed me when I called to ask the status) The second form was missing items - was told the first time there were different items missing. Another call got the correct information, but now my third party administrator request form had timed out. So I called my TPA and they informed me that their form wouldn't time out for another two weeks. Back to Equitable. Okay, that form is okay, but they don't have the two documents that were sent in two weeks ago that they told me they had one week ago. I guess when you submit documents they float around and don't get attached to your original form. She suggested next time I submit something I tell them to make sure and attach it to the original form so it doesn't get lost. REALLY? That's my responsibility? I finally got my money but literally after a year and at least 15 different calls (which yes, included up to 30 minutes of wait time) Do better, Equitable. And to everyone else - there are many companies out there who will treat you with respect and be happy to help you with your money - even if you want to withdraw it!

Very deceptive business practices; preying on educators in particular. I was initially misled to believe that Equitable was the only option available for opening a retirement plan. Then I was strongly encouraged to max out contributions into funds with higher fees. These fees were complicated & unclear. The most frustrating of all though are the ***************** associated with trying to rollover into a different retirement account, which were not clearly disclosed. This company has caused a lot of frustration & wasted a lot of my time, at a period of my life when I didn't have much to spare!

Horrible customer service. I am the Trustee for 5 life insurance policies with Equitable and this company is absolutely horrible to deal with. You can never get a hold of anyone in customer service and when you do finally get a hold of someone they barely speak English.
