I have had trash service through rumkpe for 8 years. Several times a month I have to call for return service. Recently they have refused to pick up my trash. I have contacted them several time the last 2 weeks to return to pick up my trash. I was informed the second phone call that they refuse to pick my trash up because their truck is too big to fit down my road now. Apparently they have purchased new vehicles that cannot fit down roads that they are contracted to service. They failed to reach out or send notification that I would need to change the placement of my trash can. Instead they waited until I made the second phone call for my trash to be serviced to inform me that I now have to put my trash can on one of two different streets, which would be on another persons property. I told them I would not put my trash can on another street because that is not where I was original told to put my can. They refuse to service my trash and have only offered to put credits towards my account. They do have a truck that will fit down my road but will not use it to service my trash, per operations.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.
I am rejecting Rumpke’s respond due to them not offering a valid solution. They have offered handicap services (which would not be needed if they had not purchased service vehicles that are too large for their contracted routes) which would initially RAISE my monthly bill from $21.86 to $38.24, which is paid quarterly. They are claiming that ********** ** is the reasoning for this change. I feel that I am being discriminated against due to my inability to accommodate their needs. I have also been lied to, manipulated and coerced into believing they a providing solutions that are in my best interest. In the last two months I have called twelve days, numerous times a day. They have only initiated contact with me by phone twice and by email, upon request, once. The two times they initiated a phone call, they contacted the wrong number. After several phone calls that I have initiated they finally informed me that they refunded my account $53.81 for TEN missed services. I am disappointed and overwhelmed at the efforts I have had to personally put into this matter and the lack of solutions they have provided.

I pay for yard waste service alo gsode my regular weekly trash pick up. However, Rumpke won't pick up my yard waste without me having to call in every week about it. So far I have called on 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 4/7 to complain. Everytime I reach out, the agent confirms my pickup day is Tuesday, that I have a valid service, and then claims to flag the address to ensure collection. I'm told they'll put alerts on the account, that the Operations Manager will be informed and will resolve the issue, yet nothing ever changes. Today, April 15 is my next pickup day. The bin has been out since April 7th and has not been collected. As access also isn't an issue as my regular trash can sits next to it and is picked up without issue. I have emailed customer service, only to be told yet again that the Operations Manager will get this resolved. But that's what I've been told since 3/18/25. I just want the service I pay for without having to jump through all these extra hoops for no reason.Business Response

On 3/24/25 Rumpke delivered a recycling cart to my address in error. I have now contacted them 3 times to get it removed. I called again today, 4/9/25, and they said someone came out on 4/7/25 to remove it but didn't see it. The recycling cart has been in the same spot at the end of the driveway since 3/24/25 with a note on it for them to remove it. The first time I called about it on 3/24/25 I was told a request to remove it had been put in. When I called back 10 days later, I was told there was no request to remove it, but a request was then put in at that time. It's now been 2.5 weeks and it's still sitting at the end of my driveway.Business Response

On 04/01/2025 Rumpke skipped out house when collection Trash. We notified Rumpke of the issue at approx. 3pm on 04/01/2025 and they said they would fix in 24-48 hours. On 04/03/2025 (approx 730am) I sent an email to Rumpke saying this hadn't been taken care of yet. On 04/03/2025 (approx 245pm) Rumpke sent an email saying operations has confirmed the trash had been picked up. On 04/03/2025 (approx 250pm) I replied to the email and also called saying the trash had not been picked up. During the call I was told they would investigate with operation and call me back. Rumpke has given us terrible service. Within the past couple weeks they have either, Not picked up our garbage for days at a time. Or half done the job. Just today I went to retrieve the garbage cans at the bottom of my driveway and Rumpke did not empty them entirely. They were heavy and filled with water. I expect the garbage cans to be empty in terms of trash wise. As a matter of fact at this address **** ******* **** ******* ****) We paid extra for a bed frame to be picked up a few weeks ago. And it is still sitting at the bottom of our driveway. Myself and my parents simply just want the service that we are billed for.

I have been a Rumpke customer for over 7 years. I recently moved and changed my pickup location. Since the move, my service has been absolutely terrible. My trash pickup has been missed 7 out of the last 9 weeks. Every time my wife and I call we are asked the same questions and nobody clearly cares. All they say is that someone will be back within 48 hours to pick up our trash but it always falls on a weekend and my trash sits for 2 extra days (96hrs). The same false promises of calls back every time we speak with someone and they still can't seem to figure it out. I have asked to speak with their "Operations Team" that handles the trash pickup in my area and I am always informed that they do not take calls from customers.Business Response

I called Rumpke on Monday, February 10th to cancel service. I had just had $83.71 auto withdrawn for my account to cover the upcoming 3 months. The customer service rep informed me that my account was closed, a credit of $83.71 will be returned to my account or a check would be mailed to me within 30 days. She advised me to place my garbage bin out by the road and someone would be by to collect it. I called again on March 5th and was told once again that I had a credit on my account and that she was requesting it to either be returned automatically into my account or a check would be mailed to me within 30 days. She didn't have a record of me having a bin. I assured her we did, it was from ****** ******* which Rumpke had bought out. She understood and said to put it out and someone would be by to collect it. As of today, I still have not received my money returned and a date needs to be given to me so I can place the bin out to be collected from my property.Business Response

On March 14, 2025, Rumpke waste and recycling picked up our garbage with their hydraulic arm, they empty the trash set the garbage can back down, but the hydraulic arm did not let go of trashcan truck pulled off and knockeddown our mailbox on the side of the street. We called them. They promised to come out and fix it haven’t heard back from them. We called them several times they said they will come out. They have not showed up.Business Response

I had a dumpster put at my house to dump scrap building material in as i am a contractor.
Rumpke waste picked up the first few times then started to miss pickups. At one point they missed a whole month. They blamed part of it on the roads as there was some snow but my place was accessible every time they were supposed to pick up.
Customer service continued to tell me they would be here tomorrow and it would never happen.
When i reached out to cancel my contract, i realized i had been charged for 6 months of service in advance, which i didnt authorize. I asked for a refund of the service that was not provided and was told it was forwarded to management. I was never contacted, so i disputed the credit card charge and they somehow beat that, probably because i couldnt dispute just part of it. Since moving to our home, 4 months ago, we have had the WORST service from Rumpke. Our trash is continuously not picked up for no reason at all. I have called and emailed to complain 5/6 times and these drivers are SO lazy, they still don’t come. We have no other choice for trash service so I’m stuck unfortunately but this is ridiculous. Upon reviewing this customer’s account, we took the following actions to
resolve the issue and ensure customer satisfaction.
First, we reviewed the account, next we
investigated this service issue with our management team and involved
personnel, and then we attempted to contact the customer to share our findings
and a resolution. Unfortunately, we were unable to
reach *** **** by phone but would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this
resolution.
The issue that this customer experienced is
not reflective of Rumpke’s service standard and for that we apologize. We
greatly appreciate this opportunity to make things right with our customer and
to take action to ensure excellent service moving forward.
