I have tried to communicate with Rumpke Trash Services regarding my Mom's account. We closed this account after she passed away. We sold her house on July 1st, 2024 and closed the account soon after. Rumpke Trash Services sent us a refund check (included) on 8/28/24 for 24.04 to settle the account. Months later we receive a bill with no description for 104.85. I sent two letters and made multiple attempts to find out what this charge is for with no communication, call backs, etc. Rumpke turned this over to a collections agency and now my credit may be harmed so we will pay this bill to preserve my credit and kindly ask that the BBB help resolve this matter and reimburse the $104.85.Business Response

We have issues with the trash pickup almost monthly since we moved to *********. They have not picked up with no reason given several times since we have lived here. In ********* we do not have a choice in which company we use so we are stuck using rumpke.
They skipped our can today because I placed a bag on top and the lid would not close, I did this so that the bag wouldn't get tore up from any stray animals and I thought I was helping the driver to not have to lift the bag as far, when I called their customer service they said it's because the lid wouldn't close but we have seen properties with way worse of situations that still get picked up, with rumpke it depends on your driver and what kind of mood they are in, they do not have any set standards that apply to all i have taken pictures of our can at the road with the bag on top and without the bag. It is completely unacceptable that we do not have a choice in our provider and there will still be full expectations for us to pay the bill for service when no service is provided. All that they have provided to us this week is added stress of having a full trashcan with 3 kids in our house we cannot have a full can with no where to dispose of this week's trash.Business Response

As long as they do what they spoke with me about and we do not have issues going forward. The supervisor who came to our house as well as his supervisor that we spoke with were apologetic and understanding, they ensured us this would not be an issue going forward. So as long as what they said is true and we do not continue to have issues then we are satisfied.

Rumpke gets paid via an add on to our water bill. They skip picking up the trash and refuse to come back for it. That leaves us with extra trash the next week but they won't pick up extra. This is happening often and to many people in our town.Business Response

Over the last 3 to 4 months Rumpke has not picked up recycling. I have called regularly and received excuses of winter weather and icy streets in Cincinnati even though I live in Fairfield Twp. A driver told me me neighborhood was a pick up route when everything else was done. Some time I received an account credit others not. Today. I called and canceled my service. I should not have to call every week for a service I pay for and then wait 7 to 0 business days for them to pick up one weeks recycling for 2 to 3 weeks all while paying as scheduled. When I cancelled I was not allowed a credit as I did not give Rumpke another 7 to 10 days to pick up. This is beyond ridiculous. Reimburse me get the recycling and pick up the, recycling can asap not your interpretation of 7 to 10 business days which is more like 30 to 45 days. Thanks for screwing a lifetime customer. I canceled my rumpke service January 1st. 2025. It is now March 8th, 2025 and even with calling the company weekly, they will not remove THIER trash cans from my property. Since I built my house in 2018 I always used Brown Sanitation for trash pick up. In October we received a letter stating that Brown Sanitation sold the business to Rumpke . I immediately started looking for another waste company as I don’t care for Rumpke for residential trash service . I went with a company ***** waste. All of a sudden I started receiving bills from Rumpke for residential trash service which I never signed up for or received service. My bill was paid through October 2024 with Brown Sanitation and I started new service with ***** the first week in November. After calling Rumpke they were trying to say it was a past due bill so I emailed them proof and a month later they sent another bill for less and I called again and left a message with no response. So I emailed them again stating I never signed up for service with them or received service from them so please correct the bill balance to $0.00 . With no response and balance on a bill for a service I never received. I want this bill balance gone since I didn’t sign up for rumpke residential trash service.Business Response

Three times Rumpke has refused to pick up our second trash can that we pay for. They are both Rumpke pans and sit right beside each other. Now they want to argue and say we have to pay for service at another address that is not ours. Even though we pay for the second trash can they are now refusing to pick up the trash out of the trash can. We pay the Village of ****** for service and Rumpke for a 2nd trash can.Business Response

The Village of ******, OH., partners with Rumpke to provide its residents with
weekly trash collection. As part of the contract, Rumpke can take up to 6
35-gallon cans or bags each week per residence. Like most utilities, it is not
permissible for services to be shared.
Our team has been in contact with the Village as well as *** ***** in regards
to the requirement for separate service for the neighboring property. We will
continue to work with the Village on a resolution.

at aprox 1:30 pm on February 6th 2025, I was getting off the on ramp from ***** * to ** ********** and was behind one of your trucks it was nunber *****. The truck hit the dip in the road and A bunch of wood came flying out of the back of the truck and caused damage to the hood, bumper, and grill of my car. I emailed Rumpke the moment I got home around 2 pm and was instructed by email to call a few days later. I followed up by email and sent photos of the damage. There is clearly wood sticking out from my grill from the debris. I would have taken pictures of the debris but there is nowhere to pull over anywhere near where it happened but the debris was easily seen when driving by. I called them on February 14th and was told a case would be created but was given no reference number or anything and have heard nothing for nearly 3 weeks. As I said in my email and on the phone the debris was still on the side of the road at time of both reports. There was nothing I could do to miss it coming at me and it was in fact their vehicle and I do know that in **** trucks are required to have their loads secured and not overfilled. This did not happen in this case and I want the damages to my car to be repaired at Rumpke’s cost. I do have an estimate I’d be happy to provide. I thought I should escalate this to the BBB since nothing seems to be happening after my report and emails. I’m very lucky I wasn’t hurt in this incident and it shouldn’t have ever been able to occur.Business Response

They refuse to pick up trash even after being contacted 5 times. They have received their payment for service which is delegated through a city increase to our local municipality in which this company continues to extort to gain profits without servicing their clients. It’s fraud at its pure form. I have contacted this company more than the times specified and was assured they would deliver the service they were paid for but a last they have not done so. See attached photos. Driver came this morning to service my address however wrote dramatic reminder notices as if I’m stupid or didn’t do what I said I did and then strategically placed my cans blocking my driveway in an attempt to damage my car and cans. Obviously the trash has been serviced however I would like my complaint posted for others to see and be aware of. Please feel free to share with Rumpke as they do not take customers concerns or fears seriously.
