I’m writing this review not with the expectation that Paycor will take notice, but to warn fellow business owners: Do not, under any circumstances, work with Paycor. If you choose Paycor as your payroll provider, be prepared to solve all your issues on your own. Their so-called “support team” will either end the chat or hang up on you if their first attempt at a solution fails.
I was locked out of one of my companies for a staggering three months due to the incompetence of their support staff. We made the decision to terminate our relationship with Paycor back in October 2024, yet here we are—still being charged monthly fees for a service we no longer use. Paycor even admitted that our representative, Abbey V., failed to properly terminate our contract, but they offered no financial compensation for this clear and costly error.
Despite countless emails, our case has been “escalated to support” for weeks, yet they continue to withdraw money from our bank accounts without resolution. This level of negligence and disregard for their clients is unacceptable.
If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid Paycor at all costs. I highly recommend working with a local payroll provider instead. Since making the switch, we’ve experienced exceptional support and service—something Paycor utterly failed to deliver.

RUN WHILE YOU CAN. This is the worst payroll company I've ever had the misfortune to work with. They ****** me in with (admittedly) very good events/trainings, so I figured their company was amazing and their payroll service would reflect that. NOPE! Apparently, they put all of their resources into creating this front that they are a good company. The entire sales pitch is a complete lie and I'm pretty confident the only reason they are in business is because they lock you into a contract and then find ways to charge you extra fees at every possible time and do so quietly so if you don't notice every extra transaction or bump in your regular charge you'll never know there's an issue. They told me there would be a dedicated team of people to help me navigate things as my company grew, that they would help with tax issues, complete regular checks to help us find any issues, etc. Well they run regular checks alright, but just so they can quietly bill you extra. There is no team, you can barely get in contact with customer service. And when you do it takes 1000 emails to get the answer you need. They take FOREVER to "look into" issues so that you'll eventually forget that they owe you money back and then can't explain it to them again so you're just screwed. Recently they even made me re-onboard one of my existing employees so they could do something with taxes that didn't make sense (and we've been in business for 10 years) but the whole thing was a backend issue they should have been able to fix. Instead, they inconvenienced me AND charged me an extra fee for their extra work. This company should never be allowed to do business as a payroll provider. If they have any soul they should pivot to business training but even that I bet they'd still find a way to prey on people and steal money from small businesses. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH PAYCOR. RUN FAR AWAY!

This is the worst payroll company you can possibly find. Their customer service is the worst, their prices do not make sense, and they have so many hidden fees that you simply don`t know how big your next billing cycle. Please stay away from their service

Horrible company. They were charging me for services and when I asked for a breakdown of the charges, they emailed back a random excel screenshot of an amount that was just typed in. Not professional, no set list of fees, lots of hidden fees. They basically steal your money.

Terrible customer service. The business model is to lock the customer into an auto pay plan with steep fees to exit. The tax division ineptly handled our company move out of state and then charged exorbitant fees to fix the tax issues. The back and forth and lack of adequate communication led to their dismissal as my payroll processor. I do not recommend this company.

After writing this review I attempted to acquire tax information from Paycor for end-of-year W-2 preparation, information I had a right to since I paid for this, and the "deactivation" division my inquiries were directed to ceased responding to my requests. Very disappointing.

Seems when you transition to their now partner (Paychex) you are worthless. After 8 years with Paycor we decided to transition to a PEO model with Paychex. We had grown with Paycor and at the end of the relationship counted on 15 client IDs, as we grew the service got better (naturally they sold us more technology and "bundles".
On December 20th (still an active client) I was made aware that a remote employee was reported under Florida Unemployment instead of his home office in Texas and he was unable to collect unemployment. I reached out to them and followed their instructions to create a case- it is now January 29th and after multiple and I mean multiple attempts to reach out to customer service and basically any contact I had from sales, client success, and implementation to help me get this former employee help in correcting nobody has even responded. Latest response on January 22nd is that it can take up to 20 more business days! I guess due to an admin error the employee would just need to forfeit any financial help during this time.
Funny how sales and implementation teams respond faster than lightning when you are growing and suddenly go silent when you need the most support. Thanks Paycor I will remember this. ****** ** *****

Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand your concerns regarding the unemployment tax setup. It's important to note that while we provide guidance and suggestions, the responsibility for setting up and managing unemployment tax details ultimately lies with the client. We appreciate your feedback and value your input.

Do NOT use Paycor. We got migrated over by our former payroll company and the transition has been horrible. They take money out of your checking account without notice, without invoices, and without reason. They say they provide a service based on * fee and then all of a sudden the * fees double and you are left chasing your money. Go anywhere else but here. We have already moved to a local provider. The *************** Department should investigate this company. Finally, your implementation manger will be a ghost once you process your first payroll. It's all about getting the documents signed, getting the first payroll processed and collecting their fees then they are gone.

They don’t even deserve one star but I don’t have the option to put zero stars. We have struggled with this payroll company for the last year plus and finally got out. I am writing this review to forewarn others out there that it’s not worth it to do business with Paycor, even if it means paying a little more to go with another company. Trust me on this.
Extremely poor customer service, poor communication (took us over 10 days for an email reply), and difficult to use due to poor system and interface. We also got a bunch of unexpected bogus charges and when we tried calling to ask or dispute, took us forever to even get through. We were always waiting for at least an hour to talk to anyone.
This was like a bad marriage that we could not get out of. Even to cancel, you are required to wait 30 days after writing them to cancel and will still be charged for an additional month of zero service while being held hostage.
If you want to save yourself a huge headache, definitely steer clear of this company.

      Paycor, Inc.

      Date: 02/21/2025

Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand your concerns regarding the cancellation process. As per the contract, a 30-day notice period is standard to ensure all necessary steps are taken care of. While we aim to resolve 90% of our cases on the same day, we acknowledge that your experience did not meet these expectations. Your feedback is valuable and helps us understand your needs better.

I oversee both for a midsize company, and the experience I have had with Paycor over the past few years is appalling. I am currently exiting their services and have been provided misinformation on continued access to employee files and a process for document export multiple times. They will lie to you about your limited access and then refuse to allow a solution. I have attempted to connect with multiple departments or anyone who can help. They are currently refusing to provide me with access to certain employee files (either direct access myself or Paycor export of documents with charge). Employee files are federally-mandated to be retain by companies for a certain length of time. This situation and refusal to provide both access to said files and paid services are severe legal violations. When you ask to speak with a manager or someone who can truly assist, the question is ignored or directly answered with "no" - no matter how serious or time-sensitive the problem is. Paycor lost a group of paychecks with us in transition to our address a few weeks ago - it took several attempts to speak with someone who could assist. After the checks were voided, recut & issued - Paycor has still not refunded us the amount of the original voided checks when we were informed an average of 3-5 business days turnaround.Previously I needed a standard W2 amend, the request was not started upon 3 separate customer service requests. After two months of no assistance, a customer service *** told me via phone call that I should "just tell your employee to file for an extension." The amended W2 was finally completed, but only after informing them legal action would be the next steps. When you have a qualifying problem that does require assistance, Paycor only allows you to speak with a generic customer service *** with limited training and no ability to fix problems, or an email that goes to a queue - never a consistent person. Do not ever utilize Paycor.
