6/2024 A Representative from this company came to our home to offer to lock in our electric bill rates with the company we currently use which is met ** said he was from the company totally lied to us never mentioned any contract gave us false rates also changed our gas provider i called my electric carrier they informed me that *** had changed us back in June of 2024 I called **** a supervisor for that company explained what happened and how the ***resentative totally supplied us with false information and also allowed us to enroll my mothers address thinking we were locking our rates in with our previous provider and that no changes would be made she offered to cancel services with contract termination fees of $149.00 each home I want to cancel with no fees due to the fact this ***resentative lied about switching companies never mentioned contracts and she would not waive the fees a bit rude and we were lied to by this young man and in fact their rates are way higher then promised plus they changed our providers which was the first thing I told this *** that I did not want they need to correct this problem and also with my moms bill too she is over 80 can not hear or speak English well thus was a scam on the behalf of this ***resentative thank you I put an amount in below so could submit my complaint the amount change monthly Im seeking termination of a contract under false information given to usBusiness Response

At a little after 7pm EST, an *** employee knocked on my door. When I opened the door, the employee told me that my account had been flagged for not having responded to some sort of form he claimed that Duke Energy, my primary energy provider, had sent out about them. I had never received any such form. He said that at "no additional cost to the customer" I would have my "current kWh rate locked in for 2 years" and that I would "still be receiving it from DUKE ENERGY." He asked to see my bill to see if I had a "dollar sign next to the account instead of a check ***** and said that I must not have completed the form. He made me read off my account number to him so he could enter it. He had me sign, after scrolling to the bottom of the page to presumably hide the actual conditions to which I was signing, saying that, and I quote, "This is just to say I did my job." He then said that "at no additional charge to the customer" I had completed the thing he claimed **** had sent me. He also said that I had the right to cancel within 7 days, but "that almost no one does that." I was then told that I would receive an email as confirmation, and that **** would send me a letter in a few days as well. Later on, I received the email, and it appeared to say that I had CHANGED ENERGY PROVIDERS which I did not ever consent to! I looked into it, and it seems that there is some sort of cancellation fee, but I was lied to about the service I was being provided, why I was contacted, and what I was signing for. I also found out that this "IGS" charges a HUGE amount more for energy than **** does, so I was also lied to about there being "no additional charge to the customer." I am going to call them in the morning to try and cancel, and I dispute any charge they may attempt to say I consented to, as I was not even given the chance to read the conditions, nor was I told what I was truly signing. I wish for any "cancellation fee" to be waived, and to never be contacted by *** again.Business Response

We moved into our house in June of this year. When we bought it it had solar panels on the roof in all pictures. After inspection it was noted that solar panels were not on the roof. Realtor talked to igs and was told they would be on the roof before closing. When we arrived from our cross country trip the panels were still in the backyard. I called igs and was told the previous owner owed them money and they wanted me to pay for it. After two months of fighting with them they finally put the panels on in August. Since then we had a panel that was not working. A tech came out to fix it and did not attach the panel back to the roof. Hurricane ****** came through and ripped the panels off my roof. Slamming it into the roof putting a hole in it. Then it smashed into my vehicle denting and scratching the side. Ive called numerous times and sent numerous emails with pictures but get nowhere with fixing my vehicle. I shouldnt have to use my insurance for your techs negligence.Business Response

Sadly, I just noticed that I have been charged more than double my electricity bill with ****** ******? This company is listed on my bill and I have been charged around ******* a month in addition to my monthly Toledo ****** ****? I recall a salesman coming to my home explaining very little but that I was required to have them and that I was save money because I am charged a fee when I do not have a supplier through *************! I am furious! I had no idea I have been just paying my bill electronically and today I happened to look at the charges and IGS is listed! Good Afternoon.
IGS has merely said they will cancel my account (but stated it will take 1-2 Billing cycles) and also sent me a bill for $149 for early disconnection fee. I am absolutely stunned. They basically scammed me for months (and many others) and then on top of the money they received from me for 8months they only resolution is to charge me MORE?!
I have also filed a complaint with The public utilities commission of Ohio who have opened an investigation.
I am absolutely NOT content with their response. They believe because I signed all the paperwork-that is enough-but I had no idea it was OPTIONAL and I had no idea it would basically mean me paying Toledo ****** AND pay them for a service. Please note-many people have reported on your complaint system that they were manipulated and tricked into signing up due to their high pressure sales *** at my door.

You made no attempt to rectify the hundreds of dollars I was scammed out of for the last 8months! In fact, all you did was send me ANOTHER BILL for $149 and say I would be charged for canceling early BUT that my account would not be closed for 1-2 more months?! So meanwhile, I am STILL BEING CHARGED FOR A SERVICE I WAS SCAMMED INTO AGREEING TO?! This is NOT A SOLUTION.As such, I have filed a complaint with The *********************************** and they have opened an investigation. You MUST stop this type of FRAUD and manipulation of the consumer! A *** standing in your living room, ******* you lying and pressuring a customer is WRONG and it is NOT CONSIDERED informed consent, if consumers do not understand what they are agreeing to.
As I have said, NO ONE would willing sign up for a second electric bill; paying double for Electric!

Gas enrolled errored and IGS sent a letter.
Customer emailed IGS on 11/25/2024 to cancel stating our agent gave wrong information.
IGS advised customer she had been paying less with IGS up till Aug of 2024, IGS advised it was a fixed rate contract and EFT will not be waived.
Customer opened the welcome email and had time to review the contract terms.
The home Energy manger tried to reach the customer on 11/26/2024 to review the billing with her to explain she is not paying double charged with IGS, but we have not received a return call.

I am rejecting this response because: the fact that a customer signed up is not good enough. My point has always been that I was not provided accurate ************** if a customer agrees to a service but under FALSE information-that is FRAUD. A man came to my home and told me things that were absolutely NOT true. I would never have signed up to pay an additional electric bill?! That makes no sense! So obviously, consumers are being manipulated. NO MATTER WHAT THE SMALL PRINT STATES! Consumers-BEWARE!

On November 18, 2024 at approximately 4:25 pm, two people came to my door wearing IGS jackets. They first asked asked for Mr. ****** I told them that no one by that name lives here. They then asked for ******* ****** I informed them that he died ***** years ago (he was the former owner of this house). I informed them that I am on Fairborn's do not solicit list. They then lied and said they didn't see me on the do not solicit list. I informed them that 1)it's illegal for them to solicit to houses on the do not solicit list 2)that they must have a solicitation license to go door to door in ******** and 3)that they are now trespassing and need to leave my property ************** soon as I told them to leave my property, they started laughing at me and refused to leave. I had to scream at them to leave and I told them I'd call the police. They slowly left while laughing.This is illegal harassment. Since I am on the do not solicit list, it's illegal for them to even knock on my door. The lying about the list, laughing at me, and refusing to leave turned this into a quite hostile situation. On 9/23/24, a salesman from IGS Energy came to my door and wanted me to sign up for lower cost and cleaner energy with my electric and gas companies. I agreed and was told that I had 30 days to cancel. I looked at my bill history with *********** and found that IGS was doubling my energy costs. Within 3-4 hours, I called to cancel. I received cancellation notices from *** and confirmation numbers. I also called *********** to make sure the cancellation went through, which they stated it had (was grayed out), and to ask them to never allow changes to my account in the future. The door-to-door salesman put me in a bad position and confused me. Peoples said it was cancelled and when I got my next gas bill for October, I had no IGS charge, so I thought the issue was resolved. When I received my November bill, there was an IGS charge of $26.04. I called Peoples (15 minutes to 5 on 11/6/24) and told them that IGS was supposed to be cancelled and I had an email confirmation with a confirmation number. They told me I had to call *** to resolve the issue. The lady at IGS told me it had been cancelled, but because Peoples also cancelled the change, it cancelled the cancellation. Then she said it was my fault because I should have just called IGS and not called Peoples to confirm because I ultimately caused the problem. I do not owe this charge of $26.04. I cancelled the same day I signed up. I do not want to pay that charge that they are forcing me to pay or they will ruin my credit. I am a senior that depends on LIHEAP to help me with my energy costs. I can't afford to be ripped off by either IGS Energy or Peoples. I don't know who is the problem, but I did everything right to cancel the change -- it's just that neither company will acknowledge it, even after numerous calls and email confirmations of the cancellation.Business Response

Yesterday, 11/7/24, I received a call from IGS after the BBB had sent them my complaint. They left a message stating that they will send me a check for $11.60 so that I would only be paying the price that Peoples had paid for distribution of my gas. This was just another attempt to steal money from me. I called ***** at *********** today (11/8/24) and talked with her about what the $26.04 charge actually was. It is distribution costs. It has nothing to do with ***********. A percentage of the $26.04 does not go to *********** and does not pay for any gas. If I pay the actual gas cost on the bill -- $59.20, Peoples will receive their funds in full. So, here again, IGS is just trying to promote this attempt at stealing money from me. I cancelled this "switch" on September 23, 2024... 3-4 hours after signing up. I was promised by the salesman that this would be acceptable. I received the resulting confirmation number from IGS and I got confirmation from Peoples that the switch would be cancelled. TWO MONTHS LATER, I get a charge from IGS for $26.04. TWO MONTHS! They are thieves and I will not accept a check for less than $26.04. In fact, I don't want a check at all because I don't trust these deceptive crooks. Peoples said it would be much easier for IGS to just credit my account for $26.04 -- so that is what I am requesting. *********** is also APPALLED (exact words!) that IGS Energy tried to steal money from me and RE-SIGNED ME UP FOR THEIR SERVICE. I am rejecting this response because: *********** requested the charge of $26.04 be credited back to my gas account, as did I. No mention was made as to the amount of the check that IGS supposedly is sending, so I will not drop this case until I see a check for $26.04. If Better Business Bureau is not able to achieve the desired outcome, I will be seeking legal counsel. Not only will both Ohio's and Pennsylvania's Attorney Generals be notified of this company's corruption, the ******************************** has an attorney that will help me with this matter in court. Legally, no matter what *** says, I had 3 days to cancel the "enrollment." I cancelled in less than 4 HOURS. It is appalling that I am being charged because ******* could not cancel my enrollment correctly, then covered her tracks by charging me delivery fees 2 months later. She needs to admit her error and return my money in full.

Gentleman showed up at my door yesterday unannounced. He could not clearly indicate why he was here. He stated our Columbia gas account had been flagged. He told us our provider was out of state and he was making sure we were being provided locally. Stated nothing would change and we should have received a letter in the mail that stated we would opt out if we didn't respond. Which according to him is why he was here. I don't recall receiving anything. Asked to see my bill. I did not provide him with this information. Its a scam!!! I had someone from IGSenergy come to my door and said to me that my house has been flagged by ComEd and NicorGas and that he had to update it on his tablet (I just purchased the house this year on August 9th, 2024) & talked to me about lower rates. He requested my ComEd bill.which I provided not knowing the out come. I then mentioned that he entered my email wrong and he said he would fix it and never did so Im not sure what I signed up for..but after seeing all the complaints and bad reviews, I want to cancel anything that he made me sign up for.Business Response

2 door to door salesman came to my house at 3:30pm eastern time at ******************************************************************** on 10/31/24. The younger gentleman pointed to my no soliciting sign after knocking to show the older gentleman behind him, and the older gentleman shrugged his shoulders like he didnt care and the younger gentleman knocked a second time. I am a remote employee and this is absolutely unacceptable. I was in the middle of trying to take a recorded statement with a client while my dog is going insane at strangers on the front doorstep who dont pay attention to no soliciting signs and persist to knock after not getting an answer. I have this on footage and want them reprimanded. You do not get to disrupt others work lives for your own work.Business Response
