I have had the most exasperating experience with Consumer Cellular!! This is by all accounts the worst telephone company in the nation. Among the reasons I believe that include, dropped calls, poor reception, inability to make a call, horrible customer service, a complete disregard for my concerns, and almost smug laughter about how difficult they were making it to resolve my issues. I finally had enough! I decided to drop the service and called to cancel my account. It took, as far as I remember, over 4-6 months to get out of the contract with them. Meanwhile, I was being charged by them for an active account only because I couldn't cancel my account with them. I learned from other people that this is a typical tactic they use to make it difficult for you to cancel your account. The issue was my SIM card was locked. They wanted to push the blame onto **** for locking my SIM card after I had been with them for over 1-2 years. How could Consumer Cellular have me as a customer for that long if **** had locked my SIM card? This is incredulous!! They are still trying to chase me down to get paid for the last month of service even after I told them I had no other choice but to remain with them after trying to cancel over 4-6 months since I need my cell phone for business. I was so disappointed with this company. I originally had high expectations that this would be a good low-paying cellular company that offered good reception and access to **** towers. Sadly, this was not the case.

I was a satisfied consumer cellular customer for a good while. During the time I was their customer I received pleasant customer service and no issues except for some reception issues here and there.I switched to Verzion in mid 2023. I realize in September I am still getting charged for one of my lines. The way consumer explained to me, it wasnt an error on their part that it was up to ******* to communicate the transfer. Even though I was on the phone with a rep at consumer as well the day of transfer. I believe I am getting reimbursed, however I am here writing this feedback due to the rude demeanor of the representative and the supervisor I spoke to. I was friendly and respectful trying to get help on my account and for a company that keeps repeating how great their customer service is, I felt dismissed and disrespected. When I shared some of this feedback with the supervisor, the response I got was Alright. **** I hope you are friendlier and more receptive to customer concerns in the future.

I tried to transfer to CC last week. I checked my IMEI for my phone before starting the transfer, it said my phone would work on their network. I received the sim card, installed it and nothing worked. Multiple calls back and forth between CC and ******** finally was told that my phone won't work with their network. Their ad said 100% money back guarantee, not true. They have charged me $5 each for shipping for two sim cards and will not refund my money.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this experience caused. Please understand that while we do everything we can to help solve problems, we cannot guarantee every cell phone model can be configured with our service. The $5 shipping fee was paid to the US ************** for transporting the order; the *** Card from Consumer Cellular itself was free.

I recently moved and had to increase my usage for 6 weeks because of being without internet. Today I called to switch back to my previous plan and I'm told they no longer have that plan. After going round in circles, I asked why if my plan is $25/mo., am I billed $36? Taxes and fees. Then finally she says "you're not signed up for bill pay". That's $6/month. I was NEVER informed that I was going to be billed for that, nor wasn't notified of the option. Dishonesty makes for bad business!!

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience.  If you do happen to go over the data on your monthly plan, we do automatically upgrade you to the next level plan. This way, you always get the best possible rate, with absolutely no overage fees. If you were grandfathered into an older plan, sadly, it may no longer be available. Please contact our U.S.-based customer service and we will be happy to assist you with reviewing your account and charges.

I've been with CC for a number of years now and mostly been very happy with the service - up till now. I was making a trip to ******, and called to have International Roaming switched on. It got done and I got a text message saying it was on. Arrived in ****** and for the entire two weeks of the trip, the service would NOT connect to any ** cell service. I initially couldn't even get WiFi calling to work to because it kept erroring to "No cell service detected," meaning I couldn't even contact CC. I had my wife (who also has a number on this very plan) contact them to explain but they would NOT even listen to her. Said they had to talk to 'the account holder.' Yes I understand security, etc., but in this instance they couldn't even discuss anything or take action on a notification from the person using a number on the plan that there was something wrong?? It's not like major account details were being changed, it was simply, 'he's supposed to have roaming but it's not working,' but they wouldn't even act on that and check the service. I eventually managed to get **** calling to work after researching myself what the problem could be on that, but it took four days and by that time I was severely ****** off with CC.SO now I'll start looking for another service. Not that I plan any further international trips, but CC have started to price themselves OUT of the attractive range for people like me, even with the **** discount. I have three lines on the plan and it now costs $70+ depending on how much data we use. It's becoming poor value. I'd say CC be warned, but from what I gather, changes in CC management mean they really don't care about that, it's all about $$$ now.

My mom got service for me and her because I needed the unlimited data. Had a job that required unlimited data. Anytime I tried use it I lost a cell signal! Made a phone call and come to find out they use **** tower's. We left **** year's ago because of their pothetic service. After mom refused to be charged $90 for a $60 plan they got mad and hung up. They are a trash company and their commercial's are falsely advertising. I can see why yall have so many bad review's

I went with them for the price. They use ATT towers and in this area they are terrible. No one bothered to tell me this. I had the service from 09/11/2023 until 09/27/2023. They want to charge me +$90! I called and the first *************** up on me, arguing I've had service since 2019. I had it in 2019 for 8 months but did not leave owing a ****! They finally admitted I had service in September for the above dates, but said I owed them for October. My number was ported out of their service 09/27/2023 and I have the letters from them showing that. They had already taken $36. on the 11th. Now they wanted another $62. I said no. They discuss and decide to "generously" reduce the bill by $11 because they lousy ATT towers caused dropped calls, and that is why we had to cancel the service in less than 3 weeks. Totally rip you off and they lie to you. This is why they bill at the end of the month instead of the beginning of the service. They can stick you for at least a month that you have no service.

Phone quit working i was told it had wrong sim card even though it was the card they sent with the phone when i bought the phone less then a year ago and to go buy a sim card and call back, That was on the 27th, they were then closed and had to activate myself online. Still did work then i was told on the 29th it was ATT towers even though my spouse phone was working. I was told to shut off and restart every 3 hors for 48 hours and see if it would work still did not work. Then on the 1st at 8:30 am i called and was told it was sim card again . They then had me on the phone until 3:30 pm trying things still not working,. The phone is less then a year old and under warranty the problem said i was not on the network and i could only make emergency calls calls,. The problem started when phone was only 2 weeks old, At that time they had me shut it off and restart the phone and that worked for a few months', Button line they keep running me around not wanting to honor the warranty, they wanted me to pay $99.00 to file a claim on the insurance on the phone. 5 days wasted. and consumer cellar did nothing. Talked to a supervisor by then i am angry and cussed a little and she was going to cancel my plan ang hung up om me. 5 days of no help on my phone . not the insurance is replacing the phone when it should have been replaced by the warranty. no mi out $110,00 my deductible for the insurance and $10.00 for a sim card i did not need, worst costumer service i ever had.

In Jan. 2023, I elected to show my disgust for ATT's "woke policy" when ATT cancelled NEWSMAX to over half of the U.S. (ATT owns 60% of NEWSMAX) I shopped for a new cell service. Recommended was Consumer Cellular. I needed renewed service to both my *******, **. and remote ******* addresses previously provided with excellent service from ATT. Aaahhh, I'm all set with Consumer Cellular, I thought. What's peculiar about ******* in January? Hint: It's winter. I can't always get to my ******* address because of weather. BUT..... for the next 5 months, when I did get there, I had NO cell service and only occasionally text service. Consumer Cellular had assured me excellent service because Consumer Cellular rents time from the same ATT cell tower(s) previously provided by ATT!Complaints to Consumer Cellular fell on deaf ears. At one point a Consumer Cellular customer service representative connected me to one of their technical representatives who suggested I call ATT to learn why I'm not receiving Consumer Cellular service thru ATT towers. Laughable!!!In June 2023 I'd finally had enough. ATT had settled with NEWSMAX, so back to ATT I went. Consumer Cellular lied to me. I held off paying my June bill of $38.02 (paltry, I admit) until Consumer Cellular admitted to some culpability, which they've refused to do...to this day. A monthly penalty generated to my bill by Consumer Cellular has now accrued to $75.80. I recently offered to pay my original June bill of $38.02 just to get Consumer Cellular out of my hair. No dice. Consumer Cellular now threatens me with a "collection agency" and "ruination" of my credit. This has now boiled down to a matter of principle. Consumer Cellular lied to me to get me to sign up and now refuses to accept any culpability for their lousy performance. I hold my ground!

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. As it pertains to service coverage, all cellular service providers face the same challenges. Per the nature of the signal itself, it may be impacted by many things; a towers transmission limitations, weather, terrain, trees/foliage, in-building/in-vehicle use and even network capacity constraints are just a few. More remote or rural areas also tend to have fewer towers and this can result in less consistent coverage as well. It is also true that while inside a home, cellular connectivity can be further impacted by the building materials of the structure itself. Some of the more problematic materials are brick, cement, aluminum siding/roofing or stucco.

never had such horrible experience! only was with them for about 45 days. had 2 cell phones on plan. the one broke within 25 days (screen would only show a 1/4 of it). made an asurion claim and they sent a replacement. that one would NOT connect to Consumer Cellular. they wanted us to get in car and drive around until we found a signal. the other phone did work, but the 2 times i really needed it it would not dial out. i have it mainly if car breaks down, so it does me no good. i quit their service and still having issues with them!!!
