Consumer Cellular might have been good at one time, but I think they are cheating their customers. I have been using ******** phones for years and never had a problem with them until I switched to Consumer Cellular. Now, I can't receive all calls, my phone goes into airplane mode for no reason, and it disconnects from my router, even when I am sitting next to it. I would love to get rid of them (I'm on my 2nd phone, but I am in a payment plan and get afford to pay it off.

88 year old grandmother gets a promo when she calls to replace her broken cellphone. They told her they could give her a monthly plan for home service for $30 which is roughly $45 cheaper than her current home phone service provider. They talk her into the moxie home phone base, ship it out on 6/27/22. It arrives 7/1/22. Get everything hooked up, activated, plug the home phone in, find the best signal strength and all set to make phone calls. Except, no phone calls can be made. Cant call out or in to the home phone. Turned the wireless base off, back on, still no service. Call customer service, on the phone for 45 minutes and they say "we're trying to port the # over from her old provider, give us ***** hours". Holiday weekend, they don't get it transferred over. Call them back. Same story, but "give us **** BUSINESS DAYS". 10 business days, still no phone service. Call them back, "oh we're so sorry, it typically takes ***** hours to port over a number". Finally get service going and then the phone stops working, again. Call them back and ask to cancel the service and return the equipment. "You're outside of our strict 30 day return policy". Refuse to issue an $80 refund for the home base. What they don't tell you is that they s**** over elderly people who don't know anything about technology. What they also don't tell you is that the 30 day policy applies to when they send the device out to you, not when your service actually starts. So the base costs $80 and then they're going to charge for the service rendered for the month, which really only provided possibly 2 weeks of actual phone service that can be used. Then REFUSE to refund the money for their piece of c*** equipment and service because you're "outside the 30 day return policy". So they swindled a senior on a fixed income out of $100 that could have been used for food or medications, not to mention being completely incapable of providing a service that was paid for. I wouldnt depend on them. BUYER BEWARE.

I purchased a cellphone for my godmother, who was a long-term customer of **********************. She could not operate the smartphone; therefore, I requested a return. Consumer Cellular provided a postage-paid return label. I sealed the phone with bubble wrap and secured it very well mailing tape, in the original box. However, Consumer Cellular returned the phone with the screen shattered, and it did not appear to be the new phone that I returned. They said the phone was damaged in delivery. They even admitted that it appeared to happen on their end, but they charged me the cost of the phone anyway. I disputed it with my godmother's credit card company, but Consumer Cellular reversed the credit they provided. They should've told me to pay for my own shipping if they did not have insurance on their packages. I always purchase insurance when I'm shipping a costly item. They failed to do so, and they are not taking responsibility for damaging the phone. Beware of purchasing phones from this company.

A complaint about deceptive advertising.Back in about February 2022, learning the cell companies were no longer going to support older dumb phones in the following year, and the company i was with was sending me info on getting a new phone. i am not a fan of "smart phones" but saw an ad about Consumer Cellular and was kind of geared to older folks. I looked on Consumer Cell's sight on the net and shortly thereafter I got a PROMO in the mail from Consumer Cellular that personally offered me a $100.00 credit for a new line and that i was "pre-qualified for this offer" as long as i opened an acct. before April 30, 2022. I opened my account in March.I thought they would give me a $100.00 credit to my bill and not have to pay till that credit ran out. The first bill came with a $5. discount. I called and was told the offer would give me a $5. discount till i reached the amount promised. I still felt that was ok but couldn't do anything about it anyway. Now - on my August 2022 bill there is no longer a $5. discount. The discount lasted only 5 months. When i called and asked what happened, the rep told me the ****** CODE" used on the offer made to me was for only $25. and i couldn't be helped. I asked for a supervisor and he came on and said with that ****** CODE" he couldn't help me and was very short and to the point. The code can be seen on the attached promo sent to me. So i am out $75.00 of a promised $100. and they have all the say. If this is intentional - its fraud and if it is a simple mistake, with the wrong code on an offer - it should be easy for them to say "oops" and simply make it right.I tried to file a complaint with a copy of the offer for proof, but for some reason never got accepted by BBB

Worst customer service experience for my elderly mother!!! We referred my mother to consumer cellular. We called and my mother spoke with the sales rep who was actually great. My mother paid for a new phone and the additional SIM card. ******************** for moms phone to arrive she gets an email indicating she needs to call them to finalize her order which we thought was already underway.Mom calls the number provided and they said the system is indicating she needs to provide her Drivers License and proof of address. She emailed the information to the email provided and calls back to verify they received the information.A representative then tells her that the system has rejected her order and she will not be receiving her items and the funds should be refunded to her. No explanation why the system is rejecting her order, no way how to fix it, no attempt to redo the order, no resolution at all. WORST customer service experience. We will be dropping our service with consumer cellular. They should be more receptive to the struggles of the elderly in the first place.

After being a Consumer Cellular customer for a number of years, I have just received a monthly charge of $5 for not using their **************** Almost all vendors I deal with offer an *************** but none charge you for not using it. This is basically a money grab and poor customer service. Obviously, I will be shopping for another service provider.

My Uncle. 80 years old. Ported over to Consumer Cellular. They sent him a damaged device that wouldn't connect a landline. He needs to have a phone so he wanted to port out of Consumer Cellular because of the poor customer service. They refuse to give him a pin number to port because he didn't have an email on file. We gave them an email to use and now they say it can take up to 14 business days to get a pin. He may need emergency services before then and no longer has a phone. He has breathing problems. They said they can't give him a pin unless a supervisor calls us. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! If you are a senior....Steer away from Consumer Cellular.
