MetaBank/PATHWARD financial receive my 2023 income tax refund issued by IRS March 11th, they have said they mailed a check to the address on file for the remaining balance due to me, I have not received it when I spoke to them on 3/27/24 a supervisor/manager ****** verified my personal information to make sure it was me and said yes a check was mailed but we have no other information to give you the actual check information is private security purposes, I have no proof from them that actual check was mail. I actually don't have anything to show the funds were literally sent to me and therefore find it difficult to believe it was. They are saying a ridiculous amount of time has to pass- before this check can be replaced and I am now in serious trouble with financial obligations due to the missing funds...I.e check. I am requesting a replacement immediately as I am also facing eviction, I trusted H&R block I did not ask for a paper check, I gave my bank account and routing number and requested direct deposit ,...the **** ***** agent that I had *mistakenly (?) sent it thru this process and I would like a resolution that will benefit my life as this is extremely unfair and I should not have to pay for someone else's so called mistake to be corrected,when it was what I personally believe were very*intentional actions to delay my tax refund due to personality conflict.Customer Answer

would like to make a additional request for the outcome of this complaint, I would like proof of the refund check being mailed by META BANK/ PATHWARD, they could/would not provide me with a tracking number or any information other than my address it was supposingly mailed to, said any check information was private due to security... and I provided proof of all requests for identification as I am the taxpayer.

I purchased a $20 gift card from thegiftcardshop.com at a local **** Upon removing the grey seal over the number, the numbers pulled off as well. *** would not honor the card and sent me to thegiftcardshop.com
I called on Jan 3. they said they were sending a replacement within 24-48 hrs Case # ********
I called on February 3rd - they would send out another within 48 hours
I called February 17th - they would send another
I called again March 18th - they would send another to arrive within 3-5 business days.

I am writing to make a complaint against ****** ****/pathward bank for refusing to process a merchant refund from ******* for $310.07. I had paid for service on Feb. 11th 2024 and was not able to use the service so I had filed a claim with my ****** card and i contacted ******* as well and they said that they sent the money back and it would take 3-5 days so I waited and still no refund so on Feb. 24th I contacted ******* and ****** **** to see what's going on and ******* said that they sent the refund back but ****** said they do not see it so ******* said they have no problem sending it again and to wait 3-5 days. On March 4th still no refund so I did a three way call to ******* and ****** to resolve the issue and the ******* supervisor said they sent the money back on feb 24th and ****** said that they see it but the investigator of the claim was not releasing the refund because they needed to see if i "deserve the refund". I called again on March 20th on a three way call with ******* and ****** and the supervisor **** from ******* said the refund was initially credited on feb. 11th and sent on Feb. 21st at 8 am and ****** agreed to that and said they have the money, but ****** personal investigator is taking it up on themselves to investigate to see if I should have the money ******* sent back to my account. I have a recorded conversation with myself ****** and ******* and I let them know that the line was being recorded and both ****** and ******* agreed and continued with the phone call and I have proof if you need it

who forwarded it to ********® because we are the program manager for the Account.
When you called us on January 02, 2024 and January 30, 2024, we were unable to assist you because at the
time, you did not pass our security verification process.
We received your mailed correspondence on March 19, 2024. We were unable to close your Account because
we needed to speak with you to verify your identity. A member or our Corporate Customer Response Team,
attempted to communicate with you by phone on March 25, 2024 and March 27, 2024, but they were unable
to speak with you.
In response to this communication, I spoke with you concerning this matter on April 02, 2024. At your request,
we updated your phone number and email on file for you. As a courtesy, we refunded three (3) $9.95 Monthly
Fees previously charged. At your request, we also closed your Account and initiated the process to mail you a
check for your remaining Account balance of $206.37. You should receive the check within 7-10 business days
to the address provided in your complaint.
If you have not received the check by April 16, 2024 or require further assistance with this matter, please
contact our Corporate Office at ************ between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday, Central
Standard Time.

This bank shouldn’t be in operation. They do not help you with any transaction that you need help with their estimated delivery time of debit cards after your account is open is 2 to 3 weeks the virtual card that they offer you in the meantime does not work and they refused to activate it until you have your physical card all of my transactions have been denied to pay bills and to get groceries And feed my animals. You hardly can get to a customer service representative. It’s all automated and it does not help you. They will hang up on you. They hold your funds from your paycheck of a direct deposit for days even though it says you can have access to it earlier than your payday and all they keep telling you you have to wait for your card to come in to activate your account. And do nothing to help you in the meantime. They do nothing. And provide no help.Business Response

Today I received mail from a ******* ******* Account and I saw your company name Pathward alongside the other name meaning you finance them or something along those lines and someone sent me mail with my name spelled ****** ****** opening an account in my name
I did not ask for this,
I know of your shady business practices,

Refund Advantage allowed an individual impersonating me using my personal information to obtain a $6000 advance loan fraudulently and was informed by my tax preparer when she went and attempted to file my true tax info with my personal IP Pin but i was denied the loan due to that fact and now my children and I are left with no income tax whatsoever personally. I have contacted Refund Advantage every week and have not had any updated info from them and alot of falsified info within their corporation has been communicated with me and my tax prep and will not and have not received and help nor assistance in this difficult time of our lives. I have recordings documented for each conversation and documents have been fabricated throughout their company and i have requested on multiple occasions for proof of documentation regarding my case and have filed complaints and claims on from dates of 02/02/2024 throughout 03/20/2024 and have requested proof of documentation stating each written statement and notes for each and every single claim and complaint and they refuse to give any information of documents so that i can update my police report i did make in regards to this issue a while back ago. In the beginning i was told and so was my tax preparer on a document and by a live agent that the money was loaded to some card not associated with me but then falsely added my routing and account number as the disbursement type trying to cover their tracks but i do have a recording of a customer service representative stating that my routing and account info could be disregarded and was never used as any sort of disbursement type.Business Response

I have over $3600 on ***** ************* ******* Cards. Pathward is their bank. I was originally talking to a ****** payments team member that informed me in order for me to get a check Pathward has to approve it has been 3 months I have been going through this. It has been 2 weeks since the representative ****** * * has Locked my 13 cards and has ceased communication with me. I have left voicemail on several team members line as well as sent emails. Pathward recently sent letter from ****** stating I supposedly violated terms and my account was closed due to this. This information is incorrect customer service continue to be uneducated and provide incorrect info as they informed me I can use my cards as gift cards and when I need my funds I have to register which I have been unable to do so for 4 months. I called Pathward Monday per their email sent to me on Friday 3/15/24 and I was told someone would call me with in the day and haven't heard anything I also called yesterday 3/19/2024 and still no contact. Between 2 companies my money has been unavailable to me for months no on has reached out this is ridiculous. I'm a single mother and this has caused my family unessarry financial stress . your OCC complaint.
We
forwarded your email and this BBB complaint to ****** and they are committed to sending you your
refund checks for your accounts.
Unfortunately, your accounts are permanently closed, and will not be
reopened per the explanation in the attached.
InComm is requesting proof of card ownership by simply sending in
copies/screenshots of the receipts or the front and back of the cards. You can send this information to ************************* Include “OCC Complaint ********* * ******** ****** in the Subject line of the complaint.
You can also call the number on the back of the cards if you have any
further questions.
While
we understand your frustration with this evidenced by the multiple channels
that you’ve sent your complaints to, including this BBB complaint, getting a refund check or checks for your cards is your only option. In your interactions with InComm, you advised
you are expecting more merchandise returns.
There is no recent purchase activity and any returns processed to any of
the cards can be addressed at that time.
If there are any previous purchases that you are going to return, we recommend
working with any merchants for alternate return methods. If a return does come through and it posts to
one or more of the closed cards, any remaining balances will be returned via a
refund check with proof of card ownership.
You
also advised ****** that you disagreed with the amounts that will be
refunded. Whether or not the accounts
are open for use or closed and processed for a refund, the remaining balances
are the same. If you disagree with the
amounts, please contact ****** to go through the balances and transactions to
highlight what is not correct or provide documentation showing what isn’t
correct. You can use the same email
address to send this information.
To
clarify, unlocking the cards is not an option.
The accounts are permanently closed per the terms and conditions. At this time, ****** and Pathward have no
other options for you. Please send in
the requested proof of purchases and the refund checks will be sent.

I am rejecting this response because: All of the information pathward has provided is incorrect. The email they provided me to send information is a none working email as i have tried to send email and got failed delivery. Since the beginning of March ****** has ceased communication with me. Despite me having over $3600 on the cards and locking my cards. When I first spoke with ****** **** ****** manger at incomm she was completely aware of the situation such as the amount of cards I had and we came up with I would have to get access then close them once my funds got off card because you only can have 5 cards at a time but I started running into registration issues again. So we decided a check which she spoke to a member at pathward but I asked for not to block some cards due to refunds she agreed and did it anyway and then started being mean and unhelpful. I have no reason to fabric anything there are refund s coming and if the card is locked it would be rejected. It dont matter how long the refund is taking that is not ****** or pathward concern and i have proof. The merchant wont resolve issues any other way but returning funds back to original form of payment Since March 5th I have left voicemail on at least 7 manager voicemail and no communication that is unacceptable with someone money. I'm a single mother that need my money. I have called pathward per email sent to me Monday and was advised a call back in 24hrs then 48hrs and now we are in the end of week and just a email no real resolution.
Now ****** so unsure of the ownership of the cards but had pathward sending me emails with amounts and all information related to it. Im sure that is illegal. closed, so if the card numbers are “hacked”, they will not be available for
use. If you’d like to avoid email altogether, below is Pathward’s mailing
address and fax number. Feel free to make copies of your cards, receipts, or
any other proof showing the balances are invalid or any funds that are missing
and we’ll get the information over to ******* If you do decide to make copies
and send them in, please make sure they are legible and clear. To be clear, ****** needs copies of the full front and backs of the cards. Not just a portion showing the last 4 digits. Also, the amounts left on the cards that ****** provided 2 weeks ago is very close to the amounts you provided in this BBB response. Any returns that successfully post back to the cards will also be refunded provided that proof of ownership is established. Again, please send in the requested documentation, refund checks will be sent, and any missing funds can be addressed after the checks are received.
