This has been a terrible experience - after 5 months of a dog barking all hours of the day / night, disrupting my sleep and ability to take calls let alone focus in my apartment, I'm now moving due to the disturbance given the managing company won't do anything more than put a letter on their door notifying them of the issue. All offers to 'remedy' the situation are just terrible long-winded explanations about why they refuse to do anything else - however noise violations are somehow handled directly and can be grounds for eviction, which makes zero sense especially given those are much more one-off situations (over daily disruption). Not only will they not fix the situation, but they won't let me move out early either.MAA

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand your frustration, and our team has completed thorough investigations and audits of leaseholders with pets to regarding your concerns. As communicated, the barking source has not been discovered after complete investigation. Unfortunately, our policies do not permit for early lease termination based on this. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you.Review fromKevin C

I wouldnt let a homeless person live here. I have picture and I plan to upload and post on every site. I was a tenant at Lake at University which is now call MAA Lake for almost 5 years. I asked, begged and pleaded for them to do right by me. I went to them November 30 regarding suspicion of a rat in my apartment. I was told I had to wait a whole week before pest control can come. I put in a request on 12/5/22 pest control came 12/6/22 and put a trap down and filled ************ in my bath room. Maintenance was told they needed to fill holes throughout my apartment but he barely want to fill the hole that was visible. I thought it was resolved come January 2023, I still have activity. *** ate up my food, sent pictures of dropping throughout my home. Nothing. I sent videos plus I was sick not once, not twice but 3 times with respiratory issue relating to this. I sent numerous messages to manage for corporate and nothing was done. Management and pest control going back and forth but the **** rat was in my place. I was told it was more than one by pest control and that I wasnt the only unit having the problem. I wasnt offered a new unit or anything. I asked to leave and break my lease without penalty they refused to ***** me that request. They did nothing to help but expect me to pay them $4700 for leaving. Mind you I paid my rent each month in the rat infested apartment. I was suppose to have my carpet cleaned every year, no one ever came to clean it now they want me to pay for replacement. If its a choice between your car and this management company, choose your car!!MAA

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that pest control isolated the issue and continued to service the unit at your request. Our property management communicated an offer to vacate with a reduction of required fees as well that we understand was declined. We wish you the best in your future chapter.S. W.

Im glad you responded back because clearly you know nothing. Pest control did nothing! Lets start there. Pest control places small black traps in my home when they came out December 6, 2022. Upon placing them, I was told they would be out every week to check the trap. No one came back to my home until mid January and thats me again sending pictures of activity still occurring. Came back to place one more trap in the kitchen. Still nothing. I leave for vacation for a full week and allegedly they came and checked while I was gone. Nothing was done. I come back from vacation to activity still going on. They placed this big box look like a paper shredder and nothing. The guy who placed that said a signal would be sent for them to come back and check. It took me to say something again Valentine *** week regarding when they suppose to come. They come and said well one was caught but we havent caught the other one. Let me keep it all the way real. Then pest control informed me that other tenants on the property dealing with the same thing so I shouldnt feel bad. Like what that dont make me feel good. I reached out to management March upon paying my rent that I could not do it anymore after send pictures of activity still going on so its not just one ray its multiple. I asked for to break my lease without penalty. You all response that was verbally sent to me was I have 30 ***s to move but I have to pay the prorated for the ***s that would be occupied in ***** plus a $1250 penalty. I disagreed to the penalty. I sent another email and verbally said Ill pay the prorated which would have been $675 plus utilities for ***** and thats it. I never heard anything back. Im calling and calling no answer. From my understanding, corporate was to reach out to me personally and never did. So dont come with we offered because you aint offer nothing. I had no choice but to choose my safety and leave. So before you get on these people platform trying to sound as if you did due diligence, you did not!! Its no way in the world I should have had to live with rats from December to March!! Oh also tell them how in March you all wanted to be like let exhaust all option. 4 months later you want to sweep my apartment of holes or entry points. I said no because from my understanding, that was already done. Then you all was like we gone move all the appliances such as the dishwasher, stove, washer and dryer and refrigerator. I said I thought yall did all that while I was gone. Pest control, maintenance and corporate was never on the same page. Every one want to point the finger but no fix was given. I suffered no one else.Review fromIris S

1 starI've been having continuous issues with the MAA ************** at their Post *******, ** Location for over a year now regarding their parking garage situation. There's very limited parking in the ******** have access to and there have been instances in which I've had to park in visitor because there were no other spaces and I've been towed twice now. I spoke with *************************, Property Administrator, about the parking situation and how there are several cars that park past the gate with no sticker (some of which have not been moved in months based on the inch of dust on the car) or that some cars are using stickers that are no longer valid. *****'s response was that their office simply doesn't have the time to monitor all of their garages - even though their office has access to all of the license plate #'s for the tenants and they can surely focus their efforts on the garages that are having these issues. Additionally, they can have the towing company focus on the cars that are parked past the gate with no sticker rather than the paying tenants that have no other option but to park in visitor. But her solution was for me to go through the garage and document which cars are parked passed the gate without a sticker -- as if that's my job. She also offered the brilliant solution of removing my sticker and parking in visitor, advocating further to the issue with parking, because there are already several tenants with stickers parking in visitor -- because there are no spaces! There are nights when visitor/retail parking is completely full too. On top of that, the elevator in my garage has been inoperative for over 6 months. My impression from our conversation is that the office cannot do much about the parking situation and has no intention to devote their time to resolving the issue.Review fromDestiny M

1 starI applied for a 3 bedroom apartment. I got approved for my credit background check but did not get approved for the financial part. I make 3x what is required. The associate ********* called me back and told me that my numbers were wrong on how much I make from my job(I've worked at for 5 years+) and bank statements. And told him that I told them I make ****** a month(which I do). He told me that he was going to change it to $7,000 based on my check stubs. When he changed my information my application got declined. I went to the complex the next day to speak to him on the matter. He told me it was nothing he could do to see why I didn't get approved. That it is up to the system to determine my approval which makes no sense. Then told me it would take 30 days to refund my deposit of $250. The 30 days pasted never received anything. I called them to track it they told me they can't track it that I should wait a little longer. But I couldn't wait for my money because my lease was up at my current apartment. Im very unsatisfied with this experience. There is no way for me have not been approved for the apartment because I checked everything before I applied. They have terrible service.Review fromLaura G

1 starOur rent has been raised by $200 last year and $150 this year. Says it is the market but what is it being based on? Our property manager sent a snotty reply back with a basic I don't care attitude. We have a lack of management and live in unsanitary conditions. Complex sent 3 emails about dog ****, leaving trash in front of compacter, and trashing porches These things still have not been taking care of it. I will be telling all my friends not to rent at any MAA properties. Corporate better start taking care of things from all the comments I am seeing. It's amazing they are still in businessReview fromBrittany C

1 starI am writing this review to help others avoid this complex. I should have researched this place way more than I did before moving in but do to a life emergency I was forced to make a quick decision. I want to help anyone I can avoid this same mistake, I lived at this community for a total of 1 month and it was the worse experience I have ever had at an apartment complex. When I moved in my apartment was dirty. I personally had to hire cleaners to clean my apartment. My shower did not work for 3 weeks. Constantly follow up with the office and property manager. The number of times I had to go to the office for the laundry list of things that were not working properly in my apartment was ridiculous. My apartment flooded on Dec 24th and was completely demolished along with multiple apartments in *******. The day of the flood there was supposed to be someone on call for maintenance. No one answered the phone. For 2 DAYS! ****** this community. The new article (along with others) will come up. Moving on from the lack of concern or empathy they had for their residents, they STILL CHARGED resident's rent. My apartment was demolished to the point it was unlivable and unsafe for me to stay there. They STILL charged me January rent and refused to refund me *********** (security and pet). Overall this community is very dirty and unkept. There is trash and dog p*** everywhere. There are PLENTY of apartment complexes to choose from in *******. Avoid this one at all costs. I talked with multiple residents who were happy their apartments flooded solely because they were ecstatic to get out of their leases at MAA Brookwood. Huge red flag. I am so thankful I was able to move to a quality apartment complex with excellent customer service and pride in the community. DO NOT RENT HERE. ****** will tell you all you need to know about this place.Review fromRicky B

Aside from rising lease prices for 3 consecutive years, this year the rental of a garage rose 69 percent!!!I understand increases in lease price, but 69% increase for garages! We rent 2 garages at a *********** location in *******, **. These are standard 1 car garages, for that price I would expect conditioning, heat, maybe even running water! Last year the price rose by $5 on one of the two we rent, but 69% increase this year is pure corporate greed! We will be paying more for this outdated, rampant car burglarized and trash accumulating apartment than more modern and less crime ridden apartments nearby. In the past 2 years, we have watched this place deteriorate.MAA

1 starThis is the most unprofessional company I have ever come in contact with. Not only are they consistent scumbags from **************** all the way down to the front desk attendants. At least they are consistent.
