Dear Better Business Bureau,I am reaching out to request your assistance in resolving an ongoing issue with Metropolis, a parking management company, regarding unjustified parking violation charges at my residence in **********************Summary of the Issue:Unjustified Charges:A $60.25 violation fee (including a $30.25 violation and $30 handling fee) was charged to my Amex card without my authorization for parking in my buildings garage, which is free for residents.A similar $59.25 charge for a violation with ***** is scheduled to be processed on January 4, 2025.Repeated and Ongoing Problem:I successfully disputed a similar charge from Metropolis earlier this year, yet I continue to face these unjust charges for using my residential parking.Systemic Issues with Metropolis:Their website is unreliable, preventing residents from updating or verifying information without being prompted for payment. This has made it nearly impossible to address the situation effectively.Resolution Sought:Immediate reversal of the $60.25 charge from Avis.Cancellation of the $59.25 charge from Hertz before it is processed.Assurance that no further unauthorized charges will be made.I have tried contacting Metropolis directly, but the issue remains unresolved. I believe their practices are unfair and have caused undue frustration and financial inconvenience.I would greatly appreciate your assistance in mediating this issue and ensuring Metropolis addresses these unjust charges.Thank you for your time and support.Sincerely,RuohanBusiness Response

I parked a rental car in the hotel garage managed by Metropolis Parking during a work trip. Following the instructions, I downloaded the Metropolis Parking app, added my corporate credit card, and entered the rental cars license plate information. The app advertises a seamless system where you drive in/out, and charges are automatically processed to your ******* corporate card was successfully charged for the full parking fees, as reflected in receipts available in the app. However, I was later shocked to receive a bill from Budget Rental Car for a nonpayment of parking fees for one day. Budget informed me that they had paid this parking violation on my behalf and subsequently charged my corporate card for the amount.Upon receiving the bill, I immediately contacted Metropolis Parking via email to dispute the transaction, providing supporting documentation, including screenshots of payment records showing that my parking fees for the date in question were paid in full. My first contact was on December 22, 2024, followed by emails sent on December 23, 2024, December 25, 2024, December 26, 2024, and December 28, 2024. These emails reference Ticket #*******. Proof of payment/receipts were submitted to my email as well. Despite five attempts to resolve this issue, I have received no response from Metropolis Parking. This lack of communication is unacceptable. I am now dealing with double billingfirst by Metropolis Parking and then by Budget Rentalforcing me to pay for an error caused by Metropolis Parkings system.I am requesting immediate rectification of this issue, including a full refund for the incorrect charges and a clear explanation of the error. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will escalate the issue further, including involving my companys legal team, as this constitutes potential fraud.Business Response

Went to parking facility. Was using online payment to pay using credit card. My cc is good. The system automatically after selecting payment option jumps to ask for your complete social security number and your checking account. I was not going to do that given I had a valid paying card and that is personal information you dont put to pay a parking ticket. I tried contacting the company while there and even looked to see if there was an employee on site. There was none and I didnt want to wait there until I got the issue resolved so I left since customer service was slow in response. After I got to my hotel I tried it again and this time it went to my cc information. I think there is something at that place trying to steal peoples information and should be investigated. Later I received a violation note from them, I have paired it all but should be refunded the violation fee as I was at the location trying to pay, even after but they do not take money over the phone and charged more after I left. They refuse to listen to my case and have ghosted me. I have emails of when I started to contact them but they are only interested in profiting and scamming to get peoples social security numbers. Thats should be alarming.Business Response

On December 11, 2024, I was leaving the hospital parking lot (as my wife is a cancer patient and had to be in the hospital for 5 days due to an emergency procedure) to get my weekly parking pass for $25. I was at the gate for ***** minutes pushing the assistance button and no one responded. I also went to the room where parking attendance are supposed to be, but no one was there. I had no way to get out of the parking lot other than paying a $46 fee when the attached placard said I could purchase a 1 week pass for $25. I decided to pay the $46 and come back the next day to get a refund. The next day when I asked for a refund they refused to refund the $21 difference. I'm asking for help in refunding me this over-charge.Business Response

On 12/15, I parked in the parking garage (150 garage) that we use for my work (Barstool Nashville). As an employee, we are given a QR code to scan to bring the price of this garage down to $8 instead of the normally charged $50. These garages are equipped with license plate reading cameras. My license plate is on file on the app. I drove in and it did not read my plate indicating that I had parked at the garage. I tried to scan my code and it said it could not apply because no visits were open. I attempted to hit park now for the 150 garage and it still would not work. I went into work and when I left for the evening, I tried all of the above again. Still with no luck, I had to leave given it was 2 am and I have my newborn at home with the babysitter that I had to get back to. When I pulled out, the license plate reader THEN decided to read my plate and charge me $50. I submitted a complaint and have been going back and forth with an employee named *** who has not been helpful at all. It feels as though Im speaking with an automated response. My complaint is not being taken seriously and I have given all proof possible of this situation being due to the faulty app and not my negligence. Im a single mom of a newborn. Every ***** I have is needed and a $50 charge when it was supposed to be $8 is a big deal for me.Business Response

Uses Metropolis to park at the ******* grocery store in ******************** and despite having validated parking and was able to drive out the meter continued to charge. I received an email notification the following day to drive out of the lot to pay even though I left the parking lot over 15hours earlier. Was charged $10.99 plus a $0.99 service fee. Tried emailing to dispute the charge and received an automated email to provide my phone number and received no follow up. No one picks up the phone. I will be filing a chargeback due to lack of support from this company. This business is a scam and there are many complaints. Unfortunately I will no longer visit businesses that use their parking services.Business Response

I was charged for the full day in optimist hall parking lot a even though i was just 11 mins over the 3 hour parking ( which is like 5 $) . There was not enough info provided after 3 hours it will be prorated or full charge. I would like to request for refund. There system to capture the in and out also is not full proof . it shows the car in the premises even leaving it.I end up paying $14.00 for extra 11 mins which i think was not clearly communicated.I reached out to their customer care too and they were not interested in doing anything further.Business Response

Last Saturday I received a text from metropolis parking stating that a parking session had started. When I clicked the link I did not recognize the license plate number. I assumed it was credit card fraud so I reported to ****, canceled my credit card. Also contacted Metropolis. The charge was reversed. Today my daughter received the same text, with a different license plate and a different credit card. She has used metropolis parking where she lives in ********* and she has contacted them as well as the credit card company. I have a hard time believing that metropolis is not involved in these fraudulent charges.Business Response

On December 18th, 2024, I parked in what was listed as the ******** which is located in the ************************** in **********. We took advantage of the 3 hours free parking by dining for lunch at one of the restaurants in the complex. We then went about shopping in the area as we had dinner reservations at 5:00pm (we arrived and parked in the lot at approximately 12:30pm). I had planned to pay for the difference once our 3 hours gratis parking expired. When I received the text alert that my time was about to expire, I promptly went into the app to extend our time. However, the only options for time extensions available to me were either 7 or 10 hours. I could not extend my time by anything less, and I knew we would be leaving to check into our lodgings in ******** once we were finished eating, so I was not going to be there until 10:30pm. I immediately contacted customer service/help/filed a ticket about this issue. I received no response until more than 24hrs after the event occurred. We left the lot at around 6:30 (which was about what I figured), so nowhere near 10:30pm. I was charged $50 for 6 hours of parking because I had no other choice but to choose 7 or 10 hours. **************** communication has been less than helpful and is just the same old line repeated over and over. I do not mind paying to park, but I do mind being forced into paying for more than what I know I will need. Had I had the option to add 3 hours and only used 2, I would not have an issue, but to pay for 7 when I know I will likely only need 2-3 is just unethical business, and I apparently not the only one who has had issues with this company.Business Response

I have a parking pass from ***************** in *********. I received a parking violation ticket on March 20, 2024. I had contacted Metropolis about this and they asked me to scan a copy of the parking pass. I did so, and sent it to them. The employee then confirmed that the pass was valid and they closed the case (in which case I did not pay the parking ticket). The key here is that a Metropolis employee VALIDATED the parking pass I have, which I have been using, successfully, for 4 years. Fast forward to today when we receive a notice in the mail saying my parking ticket has not been paid. This is for a different supposed "violation" on November 20, 2024 - which I received NO notification of any violation, either written or electronic. I contacted Metropolis again, saying this parking pass was confirmed as valid by THEIR EMPLOYEE, back in March. Metropolis refused to stand behind the decision their employee made in March 2024 and said the ticket still stands and that I owe $83.65. In this woman's quoted words, "This issue occurred because there is no account or license plate registered in our system under your name. Since you did not have an active account, our system was unable to confirm your visit, which is why the ticket was issued, despite the use of a validation." (I am assuming validation means a valid parking pass). What sense does that make? I get a parking ticket because I do not have an account with them and DO have a valid parking pass? I am standing my ground and not paying this ticket. They insist that I do pay the ticket. This is nothing but a money-grabbing scheme. If the right people actually paid attention to the reviews for this company, they would be run out of town. This company has a monopoly on parking garages/lots and they run it like they are a czar. This needs to stop.Business Response
