On 05/31/2024 I had parked one of *************'s parking lot. A week later, I received a notice of a parking violation along with an associated fine saying that I parked in a location that had an associated parking fee and left without paying the fee. The parking is managed by a third party called Metropolis. Their address for mailing is *************************************************************. Upon arriving, I did not notice any clear signage indicating that the location I parked in was a payed parking area. Additionally, if there was signage, it was not adequate in gathering attention of drivers who are navigating an area with heavy traffic and pedestrians crossing the lot. The charge of the fine is $45.25 while the parking fee is $18. I would be content if I could just pay the parking fee but I would like to dispute the fine. I have already submitted a dispute with Metropolis directly. I am submitting this report for general information for the BBB to help with other similar cases as well as a contingency if my dispute with Metropolis fails.Business Response

I parked at a Metropolis structure on 4/27/24 I scanned the barcode and paid the amount of $32.10 which was what the barcode read. I got a notice for over $100 dollars stating that I did not pay for the parking. I sent them my bank statement proving that I indeed had paid the fee and they responded that it was taken care of. I continue to get a mailing statement with a request to pay an unpaid fee of $100.26 I just want them to note that I paid the original parking amount and proved it with my bank statement that I sent them earlier. It has become a harassment a now and I just want them to stop. Thank you.Business Response

My daughter moved to a new apartment and asked me to hang 2 TV's for her so I drove into ********* and met her in the parking garage on 3rd floor and parked where she told me. She had been there about 3 weeks. There were no visible large signs about visitor parking when I entered the garage. She told me to park where the complex told her would be okay. I would have paid the $8 fee had I known there was one. A month later I got a billing statement to pay $78.99 which includes the parking fee. Seriously? I was there under 2 hours. Great business model for this company. Very unfair for victims. They need some real signage. But oddly, I didn't see any.Business Response

On 7/25/2024 at 8:18AM I entered this company's scan and pay/******************* located at ***************************************. The signs posted indicate hourly parking rates. When I scanned the ** code and opened the app, the "Time" button to adjust the number of hours I planed to park for was disabled. I assumed the app/website was broken and attempted to Metropolis about the issue. However, there is no phone number for them and the only option was to submit a web form on their website. I submitted ticket #******* today after being unsuccessful at reaching anyone by phone. I received a text at 4:18PM that I was charged $31.50 for 8 hours of parking although I left the lot at 10:50AM. The response to my inquiry is that the lot charges $31.50 per day no matter how long a customer is parked. However, there is no signage posting that indicates this. Nor did the app indicate this when I initially scanned the ** code. Otherwise, I would have left the lot. I have called several times and spoke with several individuals about escalating matters to someone who can refund me for the hours when I was not parked at the lot. ******** responded to my inquiry. I also spoke with ******** and a lead name ****** (spelling), who was nonchalant and refusing to escalating matters higher insisting that she could only quote their policies and pretty much threatening to hang up on me. I called again and asked another representative to allow me to speak with a supervisor. He indicated that this ********************* person was the only one there. He assured me he would escalate matters to someone else, but no one has called back. I feel as if I'm owed at least $18 back if $30 is what is charged for an entire day.Business Response

I have a subscription to a parking lot through my apartment complex. The lot has sent several notices of fees being assessed. I have attempted multiple times to resolve with customer service. **************** is extremely slow, phone calls are unanswered, emails tickets are closed without resolution and my multiple requests to speak to a live person who can resolve the issue have been ignored, or I have been told someone would call but no one has for multiple days.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: email does not provide any resolution or information. It merely states that you are looking in to this. I need to receive confirmation that the problem has been resolved and all fees waived.
Sincerely,

I parked at the ***************** managed by Metropolis which uses AI only. And you sign in with a QR Code. I was parked for less than an hour which should have been $6.00 and was charged $23 for allegedly being there for 3-4 hours. There is no way to speak to a person and you do not receive a ticket that indicates the time you entered or the time you left. They are impossible to contact. I want a bill adjustment. This occurred on July 2. I have emailed them and also texted but received no response.Business Response

On 5-25-24 my daughter went to downtown ********* and parked in a parking garage at **********************************. There was no attended available and the gates were open. She did not see any signage stating it was a pay parking lot. There are many parking lots in downtown ********* that are free on nights and weekends. Also how did Metropolis get my information to mail a ticket fine of $75.25 with my name and address. My information is protected under 18 USC 2721: Prohibition on release and use of certain personal information from *********** vehicle records. Not under only is this ridiculous that they charged a $70.25 fine for a not monitored lot with little notice of how to pay, but I believe they illegally got my information to send a parking notice violation.Business Response

On July 14, 2024, my students and I visited the ********* location at *** and ******** to park. According to signs posted, 1 hour of parking is $10. I get the receipt for the parking and it was $20, even though my receipt clearly shows that we only utilized the garage for an hour. 11:37 to 12:37, by any other math that is 1 hour, but still was charged unfairly. I have contacted the company and showed my proof of receipt, but they are refusing a refund. Had I known they would charge for an extra hour, my students and I would have stayed longer. Yet, we were cheated.Business Response

I received the attached letter regarding parking tickets that total over $2000 for a car that is not mine, was never mine. After contacting the business to tell them of the mistake was told they have records the car is mine. I contacted the *** of Michigan who assured me the car is absolutely not in mine name. They advised I had to prove the car was not mine, which how can I prove a negative? I told them to prove it was in my name and they lied and said *** of Mich has it registered to me. I was advised as well that there are many complaints like this against this same company for the same thing. They need to be held accountable for this scam.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I requested no further letters/bills and got several more in the mail. I advised they must prove to me the plate is mine, they did not. I asked how they got my name and address, no answer. They never responded to the Secretary of State of Michigan regarding how they are obtaining hits information as they have several other people with the same issue.Lastly, I require some type of confirmation the charges are no longer attached to my name. Just saying the case is close is not enough. Hilariously enough the last email i got was to register my car and credit card with them for future use. Which is clear they have no idea the true nature of their mistake. And who in their right mind would register with a company they have never used and never will use?
Sincerely,
