Metropolis changed their lot fee without notice or signage. I parked in a downtown lot for 97 minutes and was charged $58 (including fees). **************** refused to help as I was charged when I entered the lot.

6/1/2024 I was in the garage for less than an hour. I tried to leave at ****. We sat in line for over 20 minutes trying to get out of the garage and I was charged an additional $10 because I was unable to leave. The attendants were stopping each car on the way out, holding up the line and not allowing people to drive out. Im requesting a refund of the $10 I was overcharged for sitting in line. There was an additional exit that was marked closed, further preventing people from exiting in a proper amount of time.Had there been traffic because it was busy that would have been one thing. The reason people were unable to exit is because agents were stopping each car as it was trying to exit and there was at least one exit closed that would have reduced the exiting process. Agents were actively trying to slow down cars in order to push charges higher.

This company uses a third party web site (Spothero) that allow customers to pay for ********************** on a certain date and time online. After paying and using the parking garage they then sent me a ticket one month later saying I had not paid for parking and I had to prove I had paid. They tried to charge me $30.00 each for two different dates that I had parked there. How are they not able to confirm with a company (Sporhero) that they authorize to make reservations online that you paid? I believe they are trying to extort more money from people.

Issues are:- Your card is auto-saved to your account based on phone number. When you drive into a lot, it immediately starts charging whether you stay or not and there is no notification that you are paying for parking or the rate you are paying.- The whole process is deliberately confusing so you get charged for parking without realizing the rate you are paying.- If you pay for someone else's parking (like in a work situation), it will auto-save your card to their phone number. Most people may not realize this and then the next time you park it will charge the parking to the other persons card w/o you even realizing what happened.- They have minimal customer service or support. The only way to get in touch is through opening a case but it's difficult to even find out how to open a case.- Based on location, their parking rates are sometimes extremely high - $40 for 1/2 hr and again it takes some effort to figure out the rate.

I was in downtown ******, ** and pulled into **************** to park. At the entrance, there was a sign that said "$6 for up to 2 hours". I was there for 1 hour and 50 minutes. The automated parking service, run by Metropolis Parking out of *********, **, charged my credit card for $18.99.I contacted them asking for a refund of $12, based on the posted parking rate. They basically said "too bad, those are not our rates". That is "bait and switch" pricing, and I would like a refund of $12.

I am rejecting this response because: the business only keeps telling me that their rates are online and do not reflect any rates on posted signage in the garage. That is not my problem. When there is a posted sign with parking rates at the entrance to the garage and then they charge higher rates, that is "bait and switch" and is illegal.

As a technology company, I would think they could come up with a system to update rates to reflect current pricing in real time.

I am rejecting this response because: their explanation doesn't make sense.  When a business advertises pricing on a sign outside their business, there is no expectation that you will be charged a higher price after receiving services because they say all their pricing is online.  When a pizza restaurant has a sign outside saying "$1 slices", you don't go inside and order a slice and get charged $5 because you have to check the website for the actual pricing.

      Sincerely,

I want to highlight my experience with Metropolis Parking Services on February 4th. Despite attempting to pay for parking via the Metropolis app, I encountered a persistent technical glitch preventing payment. Despite my efforts over a 30-minute period, the app consistently displayed a message indicating that my license plate was already in the system, rendering me unable to complete the transaction.Subsequently, I received a bill totaling $55.25, which included a $50 parking fee and a $5.25 administrative processing fee. The parking fee seems disproportionately high for what would have amounted to around 2 hours of parking. Additionally, I am perplexed as to why I am being held responsible for the processing fee, particularly considering the technical malfunction of the app, which was entirely beyond my control. In my attempts to resolve this matter with Metropolis, I raised these concerns and sought clarification on both the exorbitant parking fee and the processing fee. Additionally, I expressed my frustration with the recurring technical issues encountered with the app and requested guidance on how to avoid such issues in the future. Regrettably, my questions remained unanswered, leaving me with unresolved concerns and uncertainty regarding the reliability of Metropolis's services.Given the circumstances outlined above, I kindly request your assistance in mediating this matter with Metropolis Parking Services. Specifically, I am seeking a resolution whereby the entirety of the $55.25 bill is waived, as I firmly believe that I should not be held liable for charges incurred due to a technical fault within their system.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that with your intervention, a fair and equitable resolution can be achieved.

Good morning everyone,I received this notice of violation after an afternoon eating in the *****************. I had my ticket validated, but when we departed the gates were up and open. I have been a long-time patron of the eating establishments since the inception of the West 7th district. I also use/member of the L.A. ******* club there. In the years past, if the gates were wide open it meant the system was down and just drive through. This violation is interesting to me, how would I get out if the gates were down? If I pay this violation, I can assure you I will never come to West 7th again for anything. /r ****

My family drove through ********* on the way home from ** on Spring Break and had dinner in downtown *********, ** (We live in ********, **). We parked at the ******************************* for a short period of time while we ate. When we came back to leave we noticed that the gate was up for leaving the facility and it was dark out so we couldn't see anything indicating any problems or that we owed anything so we were of the belief that they weren't charging for parking that evening. This happened on 4/13/24 from 6:14pm to 8:11pm (From the invoice I received) just now. We have been home since that date and today (5/13/24) we received an invoice for $86.25 ($16.00 Parking Fee + $70.25 Penalty Fee). This is unacceptable. I have filed a complaint with the ** Attorney General as well and I would like help from the Better Business Bureau. I've done some research on this company tonight and noticed that ~66 people have complained to the Attorney General - This was 9/5/23. I'm more than happy to pay the $16.00, but the penalty fee is not acceptable. It's excessive and inappropriate. Please help.

I would also like to mention that we went through several toll booths in ******* which had charges.  They mailed invoices for these charges and we paid them on time (Immediately - once we received them).  Why can't they mail invoices like an ethical company once they match a license plate with a vehicle, the date/time of parking and all of the other variables they monitor?  This is how a business should operate.

On April 23 parked at Jewish in *******************. Dr ****** said they changed parking, and I would receive a bill in the mail on May the 6 2024 got a bill for $35.25 for 1 hour of parking. I was ok to pay 5 or 6 dollars instead they gave me a violation fine of $35.25. The unpaid fare was $1.00. This is not right. Metropolis is the business. I have sent them an email and they responded back saying there was no free parking. I did not expect free parking and that I should pay the $35.25. It pretty bad, taking your son who is in a wheelchair to the DR and get a fine from parking.
