On March 15, 2024, I parked in a Metropolis lot in *********, **. No fees were posted. I dropped off a package & left the lot within 15 - 20 minutes. No attendant was on duty - it was a "credit card" lot. When I received my credit card bill, I was billed $52.54. Multiple attempts to contact Metropolis by phone were unsuccessful. They do not answer their phone.Business Response

I was only in this spot for a few minutes. I parked in a lot managed by this company. I scanned the ** code and received a text to just drive out to pay. I received a bill for $100. 70 of that is a fine. 35 for parking. I disputed and sent them screenshots of the text informing me I had checked in and just needed to drive out. They denied my dispute with zero justification and said it was final. No explanation. No contact. ******** **** channel * in ********* just did a story on their faulty technology. I do not feel I should have to pay for their error.Business Response

We parked at a parking lot at the boat show where an attendant was waiving cars in and taking cash payments, which is very common for event parking. We later received a letter with a fine from Metropolis Parking saying they only take payments in an app and whoever was operating their structure that day must have been doing so illegally, but they are still asking us to pay them a fine.Business Response

Metropolis issued me a parking ticket for 1 hour of free parking. I park in the same parking lot once a month to attend a monthly appointment. I scan their QR code for 1 hour of free parking, this time was no different. I contacted the company to tell them they must have had a glitch in their system. They agreed they had a glitch, but instead of voiding the ticket, they think its fair to reduce the ticket, which is comical at this point. I have asked them to waive the entire ticket. They can see I have a history of paying and/or validating my parking and Ive never just not paid for parking. The customer service rep is clearly copying and pasting from a script and Im done arguing with them. Can you please ask them to void the ticket?Business Response

On 03/17/24 I did a scan to pay parking at a lot in ********* **. The app ****** how you select the length of time to pay for parking, but the app would not allow me to select or input any amount other than the auto filled 12 hour maximum. There was also info on parking that would be charged the correct amount as you drove out. I thought if the app wouldn't allow me to select pre determined length of time for parking than it would charge me the correct amount at time of exit. I think it is good faith effort for a company to offer a partial refund if the app selection did not function properly as stated in the scan to pay instructions. No phone customer service phone number available on Sunday the day of parking to call to troubleshoot. I believe Metropolis should do the right thing by issuing a partial refund yo my card based on the amount t of time I parjed: 3 hours, charged me for 12 hours. Going forward I realize if their app isn't working I will have to choose a different parking method. My ticket number for issue w/ Metropolis is ******, and they emailed me that I accepted the terms with scan to pay process, however I believed if the app didn't work as instructions described that support option would help. Or correct duration would be charged at time of exit. It has been my experience that if something doesn't work properly, a company will work to find a solution. This company said they can't, but I believe there is a way if they escalate my complaint and to make good on the selection of parking time they say is available to choose, but wasn't working properly on my time of park.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I don't feel it was clear enough or obvious in the app instructions that it was a flat rate, it kept describing a process of selecting a length of parking time and then the user not able to select anything other than *** 12 hours. The support team explained after my complaint that is because the flat rate was the only option available, but it should be included more plainly a d on initial screens during scan to park initiation. Or even on signs at the lot that sometimes flat rate for 12 hours at $50 is all that's available. Support team was polite, but I do not accept the extra explanation after the fact and no partial credit, but a coupon for future use as a satisfactory resolution.
Sincerely,

I understand the company's policy, and as they are unwilling to enter a partial refund, I consider the matter closed. Hopefully they will make policies more clear on initial screens for scan to pay parking lot flat rates.Initial Complaint

I arrived at *** parking lot C owned by Metropolis at 600 **********, *********, ** ***** at 1:12pm on March 17, 2024, chose an hour slot. When I got home, I checked my card charges to make sure I was charged the correct amount, as I always do. I found not only did this company charge me $53.50, but also had me at 12 hours! I was there for an hour! The charge needs to be adjusted to one hour only. I have included the text that was sent to me by Metropolis when I arrived and a picture that I took in my vehicle, when I left.Business Response

Went to business to have lunch on our about 2/11/2024. Parked blocks away on street from where we ate lunch. Waiter informed that parking garage right outside restaurant was open and patrons could park in there. Even though parking garage appeared to still be under construction. I went and moved our vehicle to parking garage. Myself and brother in law tried downloading parking garage payment app. Would not work. Tried scanning QR codes that were on wall of garage. Would not work. Now they want to "fine" me a ridiculous fine. Have no problem paying the parking fare. But do not ***** me!! Your platform was not up and working metropolis! Have accountability on your end! Do not send ridiculous bills informing us to pay or will be turned over to collections. They have us on their parking violation request entering parking garage in middle of the night. We had lunch!! More evidence their equipment was non functional. Your site will not allow me to send picture of parking violation.Business Response

I received a parking ticket for $50.25 for failing to pay $5 at the time of parking. Parking is free for the first 90 mins. I stayed for about 117 mins. I did not realize that I had gone over the time. I also did not understand about how the payment process worked. There was not a booth, etc. to pay. Apparently, you must download an app or something. I do not believe this is a fair business practice.I contacted customer support for resolution. I am willing to pay the $5 that I owe and a nominal fee, but I am unwilling to pay the $45.25 "violation fine" as it is worded, especially since this was the first time that I learned of the payment. I contacted the company and they offered to reduce the fine to $25.25, so that total amount owed will equal $30.25. I find this unacceptable and that is why I am seeking support from the BBB.For reference, the violation number is *********** and the date of the occurrence was 1/26/2024.Business Response

I visited Indochino (retailer) at ************************************************************** on March 12, 2024. (This was not my first time visiting this store nor my first time parking in this lot.)I followed instructions to park (scan QR code, enter license plate, etc.)Retailer has QR code that, if scanned, will credit you 100% for parking in this lot.I scanned QR code as instructed by retailer multiple times. The Metropolis link did not work. (I have an Indochino employee as a witness.)I could not stay and wait for the system to work. I was charged to park. I have unsuccessfully appealed the charge to Metropolis parking.Their reply is that they will not refund me the money because they claim I did not scan the discount QR code at the retailer during my visit. This FALSE. I scanned it multiple times. The link would not work.Metropolis is being unfair and difficult to work with. Please help me resolve this issue.Business Response
