I received a letter in the **** mail today that states I owe $490 to the LA Court for a traffic violation in 2015 that never happened. It says to call this law office to pay the due prior to them sending it to collection. I went on *******.org to search the case # provided- there were no results with this case #. Then I googled the phone number and it led me here. Clearly this scam is ongoing and using ****, and the LA Court website to do so. The letter looks very official and is misleading. Can someone please shut them down- I'm sure this scam worked on many others.Business Response

On October 27, 2022 I received a letter from Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP stating I owed over 800 dollars for a traffic ticket from 2016. I never received this ticket, never got any follow *** or collection notices on this ticket before this letter. I do not know what it is for. When I go to the LA court website and enter the case # included on the letter it says no such case exists. I called the number provided three times. All three times I waited on hold for over a half an hour with prompts every minute to enter my payment information without speaking to anyone and then eventually was disconnected. I believe this is a scam and this company is pretending I have an upaid ticket in order to steal money from me.Business Response

Between July 25, 2020 and August 1, 2020, PTC recorded two toll violations, incurred by a black ***** Pilot with **** temporary license plate *******, registered to Ms. ******. PTC mailed multiple violation invoices. A past due invoice (104073636-2) was sent on September 25, 2020, in the amount of $10.50,the toll balance, and $5.00 in fees. I received a bill for $670.80 on October 24, 2022 stating that I had unpaid traffic tickets from ***** from 2008!!!! I have never been issued a citation in the ************** when I lived there and if I did and forgot, why was it brought to my attention 14 years later? The traffic ticket statute of limitations is 2 years in *****. So this is NOT OK. A company making legal threats for warrants is also not right. You cant just threaten someone 14 years later about something that never happened and then refuse to help them figure it outBusiness Response

To Whom It May ******************************* to the complaint filed with your office by ***************************. ************** complaint regards an unpaid citation for no inspection, issued by our client, the ******************.
Upon receipt of this complaint, we immediately ceased all collection activities and reviewed the account and our internal records. The citation was placed with our firm for collections on June 10, 2021. Court records indicate that on September 26, 2008, ****************** entered a plea of No Contest for the offense of No Inspection Sticker. ****************** agreed to pay $117.00 within 30 days.
Our first attempt to contact ****************** was at her previous ********** address on June 14, 2021. That letter was returned on June 29, 2021 and we began researching the account for a new address. Beginning on August 3, 2021, four letters were sent the ******** address provided in this complaint to notify ****************** of the outstanding obligation.
In all cases, we encourage defendants to reach out to our client if there are relevant defenses or challenges to the underlying offense. We are unable to assert legal challenges on behalf of non-clients. Additionally, because ****************** entered a plea of no contest, and was found not guilty, the two-year statute of limitations defense mentioned is inapplicable.
Please accept the above information as our response to the complaint. We trust that this information will be sufficient to allow for resolution of the complaint. In the event additional information is desired or necessary, please let us know.

On 10/15/22, I got a letter from Linebarger Goggan *********************************************** stating that I owed $1,140.00 for 3 outstanding violations on 11/15/14 that I had already paid. One of the tickets was that I was driving on a suspended license (I was at the time). All the tickets were given justly, but I paid the bill already and haven't had any issues since. The LA Superior Court allegedly sent this out to LGBS, LLP -- OR they're fishing to get people to pay these bills unless a person has proof that they paid it. My only proof is that I paid it and I got my license reinstated within a year of that happening. This company is trying to get money from people for old bills that were paid. Can anyone tell me how to solve this? I can't find record or waste a day at LA Superior Court when I have already done that years ago. This feels like a scam or misunderstanding for lots of folks.Business Response

I am responding to the consumer complaint filed with your office by *************************. ************** complaint regards an account owed to our client, the County of Los Angeles Superior Court.
We reviewed the account with our client after receiving the complaint. On November 15, 2014, ************** was cited for failing to obey a posted sign, failing to stop, and driving on a suspended license. On January 27, 2015, ************** appeared in court and a fine of $1,170 was assessed in Case No. D487752 and due by April 27, 2015. On January 18, 2022, a $30 installment fee was waived so that the balance due currently is $1,140. The traffic citation and court docket are included with this response.
************** alleges in his Complaint that the traffic citation was paid. However, the Los Angeles Superior Court verified that the balance due of $1,140 is correct. The Court has not received any payments toward this case.************** may provide our office with any evidence of payment for us to review with our client if he does not agree with our clients records.
