I am not liable for the debt with AMERICAN FIRST FINANCET. I do not have a contract with AMERICAN FIRST FINANCE You guys need to handle this issue. This has been going on for a long time now that I have seen my information. That's messing my Character & name up as a person.They are in violation & told me 30 days when I had fraud. Applied for a loan of ***** dollars been paying on it for a while now year to date as of today 5/7/2023 I paid back over ***** dollars . Called today 5/7/2023 spoke with a a representative and was told by time the loan is paid off in full by October of 2023 I will b paying back well over ****** dollars . Unfortunately I ran it to hard ship and is not able to pay back the loan and I was refused the help. The interest rate on these loans are so high it puts the consumer back even more with financial hardship . I dont want to mess my credit up all I am asking for is for them to take care of the remanding balance and but my account as paid in full. 12/2022 bought a game for Christmas, tried logging in account after 2 payments. I couldn't I called they couldn't find me on the account. Then when I am able to log in there is someone else's information in the agreement. So I screen shot all the information for my records.I have called several times each time I get different answers. The best answer waS that me and this other person had similar socials and our accounts connected. So call transunion about this account because clearly it isn't my account. I have never done business this way. I call to see if I could get a pay off amount. They weren't helpful after waiting 45 mins for a supervisor. Then I ask for the settlement agreement to be emailed to me first. I waS given a email to email that doesn't work. I just want people to know ghis is the worst place to business.RETHINK anything with American First finance. This is a terrible company. They are reporting late payments to credit,but I gave called multiple times to get this figured out. Needless to say it is super frustrating. The pictures uploaded are of my supposed account with someone else's name and address, birthday,added to it. This is not ethical and not good business. I want to give a discount on payoff,and adjust with credit bureau cause had this not happened I wouldn't have been late EVER.Business Response

I was sent this account info by one of American Finance employees. He was the only one helpful in the matter. I have been call *** since February trying to address this issue. If it was handled like it mattered. Nothing late would have been on my credit. So closing the account means there is truth in my statement about the account not being mine. And being affiliated with someone else I have worked very hard to get my credit in good standing. It's only right they correct the error and saying I was late on payments. Because it wasn't my account. I do appreciate them closing this matter. I can definitely breathe again...I want to say thank you to them. But the matter isn't over yet ,the desired outcome is to have my credit report redacted and reflect the changes. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank youCustomer Answer

In December 2022, I financed a $700 couch. I was told Id pay $71.49 every two weeks until it was paid off. I agreed to pay that. However, I am noticing that although Im making payments of $71.49, my balance is only going down about $27. For instance, yesterday I owed $457. I made a payment and now I owe $430 after making a $71.49 payment. This happens each time and no one has helped me figure out why. Furthermore, although my balance is $430, it says my buyout price is $633. This makes 0 sense to me especially since Ive already paid the couch off. I financed for a little over $700 and Ive paid $786. This company is ripping people off and it makes no sense to me. Im a single parent. Every dollar counts. Ive fulfilled my obligation but somehow they are illegally taking my money. Where is the other $44 every two weeks that I pay? Why is my balance only going down by $27? I need help.Business Response

I moved to attend my first year in school and went to buy a bed from a local retailer in Oct 2022. The purchase price was $1900 and I put $700 down and was told by the sales person I could finance for 0% interest and pay off overtime instead of paying it off then (which I could have & now see I should have). The "loan" was presented to me as a great deal, but I see now it was far from that. My $1200 0% interest loan (after making payments for 6 months of over $700 total) now has a balance of $2399.89 per AFF customer service. When I called to complain and understand how this was the case I was 1. Hung up on by the first rep after asking about it, then 2. Was told a very confusing story that is still not understandable by the second rep, even after having them send me what is actually a "rental-purchase agreement" (to circumvent their usuary violations in ** should they call it a loan) with a total payout of $4,769.54 for a $1200 initial balance with a $700 down payment bringing this bed to a total cost of $5469.54. This is nothing less than manipulation, deceit and must verge on criminal (I do intend to present this to legal connections for their interpretation as well). They did extend a "settlement" payoff of $1439.93 instead of the $2399, but even that price is a 276% interest rate on the original balance! Again, this is criminal and more people need to know about this. This type of business model preys on those of us who are young, getting started in life, who are swayed by shady sales people (who I cannot imagine understand what they are getting their customers involved with) and from the 20+pages of complains with the BBB, court cases across the country, and civil actions found easily via ****** search I can only hope they fail as a business and those responsible for this model are imprisoned for this. Anyone reading this should check out the horrible stories here and online. This is horrible. AFF is horrible!Business Response

I had a loan through American Finance/Finwise bank right after I took loan out I found myself into hardship do to job loss. I contacted American finance/Finwise to discuss option the only option they gave me was setting up an arrangement along with late fee but there interest rates are ungodly and I found out recently this is a rent a bank scheme and actually illegal and my interest rates for the ***************** should be no higher then 30 percent and here its 4 times the amount. Most loans companies allow deferment or to just pay interest but since interest is so high the full amount of payment goes to interest rates. I feel preyed upon and vulnerable they. I made an arrangement with them and they ended up pulling money a week early causing me two late payments when I called to speak to to them about this they asked if I was gonna keep next week arrangement which I can no longer do since they pulled a week early over drafting my account.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I am a mom of 5 with a terminal Ill parent as well as having a job lay off. The job lay off really caught me off guard but since the Dr ****** I was working for wasnt making money they laid employees off. I have been applying as well as trying to go full time at my other part-time jobs but my other job has been cutting hours due to it being slow season. I have two interviews this week and I am trying to get back on my feet and instead of the bank trying to work something out even with documentation of proof of everything they gave me a month deadline to make 1, payment of $650 and the other payment of $1950. I am not saying I wouldnt pay the loan off I am saying I need to break the payment up. I need to be able to afford my kids and put food on the table. I lost my job 1/26 I took loan out 1/23 If I would of known about the potential lay off I wouldnt of took out loan.Customer Answer

They offered me settlement and to have it paid on 06/30 but American First Finacne never told me where I can log in to pay or how to take care of settlement and every time I log in to portal its a different payment method. This is crazy I cant afford the high interest rates I cant afford this to be doing in my credit. I actually got recommended to use American first fianc by credit karma to help improve my credit what I didnt know is that the pre-approval offers was by predatory loan companies. So instead of improving my credit and my life I feel like this hurt me more and I am upset because I am a mother to 5 kids.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: They gave me a date of 06/30 to settle and in there letter they are claiming I have until 07/31. I asked for all communication going forward to be email which I do check my email regularly and respond to it. Also in there letter they state i have until 07/31 but in all communication with me its 6/30. I have responded to there email with no response back requesting payments to be broken up. I also asked how am I making the payment to and to date I have gotten no response back from them confirming. Also they state I was approved through a truth loan so then why is there another company totaling in 3 places I am dealing with when I should be dealing with just the bank. End of day I cant afford the high interest rates on the loans if I would have known I would have never ever agreed to it. I dont feel like this company is being honest first its American Fianc then it Finwise then its now someone else. I am a victim of identity theft. I reach out to American First Finance about an account I saw on my credit report. I have never done business with them. I lost my pocketbook on the train with my social security, driver's license, and bank card. I get a letter from them stating I own money. I try to reach out to them to inform them that I never order any product or do business. I would. Like this to be removed do. My credit report was and stop receiving treating phone calls. I am a victim of identity theft. I file a report with refers trade commission. They told me to reach out to all these companies to help get the issue resolved. I financed a fridge through this company on Sunday 04/30/2023. I received an email on 05/02/2023 that was stating they scheduled me for auto pay weekly for $23.29. Today is 05/03/2023. Before I signed any documents I had the sales rep selling the fridge to me, call them and confirm information on their documents. That information being the $47.64 fee that will be applied if I buyout the product early. On the phone the financial representative confirmed that I would only be charged that additional amount if I paid the material off in full before the 90 day **** and if I extended it past that **** it would only be the $397 that I was purchasing the item for. The term of the contract was first 12 months no interest but if exceeds 12 months interest applies. I started a chat to have the payment dates and amounts changed so I wouldn't get charged the $47.64 fee to find out that if I exceed the 90 days the amount due would be $635.61 which is $231.61 above the agreed upon amount. I was concerned by their verbiage hence the call the sales rep made and was misinformed by the financial representative on the line. I was impressed upon that the amount would only go up at the early buyout fee of $47.64 if paid before 90 days or if exceeds the ***************************************************************** full if I was informed correctly, but I was not hence why we continued with the contract.Business Response

I purchased a couch at ***** and a dresser at 799 from this place. I knew the place charged a lot for financing and I was great full they gave me a chance never thinking it could legally charge me $7000. The furniture fell apart but I still paid all of my payments on time until I see that I had paid over $6000 dollars and they keep adding on to my balance. Even my credit report shows were they randomly added $500 to the balance. Im not purchasing anything at that store why did my balance go up $500? I paid 72% of this loan on time. When I saw them adding to my balance and asked them to fix it I was ignored, they are nice on the phone they say they will fix it but they dont. I made another payment 1/4/2023 called for the third time to get a resolution. Worried about how to get them to stop adding on charges. $500 is a lot for me. They never explained why it was added, what it was from. January 23,2023 I received an email from credit Karma that they were charging off my account? It still shows I own the random $500. I dont know how many other times they added to my balance this is the one time I can clearly see it done for nothing and they are not backing down. They fully expect that $500 This is crazy. I never would have believed it could happen I assumed we had laws to protect people from this. They added on charges which I can prove because it showed up on my credit report the balance went up by $500.After they had charged off my account and reported me as not reachable because I was two weeks late at that point then then are willing to talk to me again to offer me a settlement of $2000. This is how I got here in the first place, financing $2000 worth of furniture which they turned into $7000.What am I supposed to do? Go through the same thing over and over. How can they legally add to your balance. A couple weeks is fast to report to my credit after I paid on time every week for years. I feel like they knew I was stuck on why my balance would go up and the best way to force me to pay more is to scare me by reporting it on my credit. I attached proof of how they randomly added to my balance. I want this company to look at my account see that they got almost $7000 from and see that as sufficient. Other wise show me why they increased my balance. I want them to report honestly to credit agencys not use them to scare people into signing up to agree to pay them all over again the same amount I started with.Business Response
