1 starWe were called by Moxie to schedule our complement attic inspection that was included in our plan. On November 1st, ************** a technician from Moxie inspected our attic and told us we had a severe rodent infestation. He said our house was bad, a 7/10 and needed to be remediated immediately. He then proceeded on trying to sell us Moxie full remediation and pest control insulation services for $13,000. He tried to create a sense of urgency and pushed hard to get us to sign up for there costly services on the spot. I told him we were going to shop around and get other opinions because this is a lot of money. We had a home inspector and insulation contractors ** in our attic this week and all of them told ** there were no signs of an infestation or any rodent activity in our attic. All the contractor who saw Moxie's quote were shocked because they were charging 2-3 times more than more than market value for this service. I will be canceling my service with them because of their deceptive business practices, and they tried to scam us for $13,000 by selling me a service I don't need. Do not use their services or invite their crooked fearmongering salesmen into your home.Review fromJen R

1 starSalesperson also came to our neighborhood, and we fell prey to their scam. He said that we would be charged $129 quarterly for service. The service is a joke to say the least. We actually saw an increase in spiders and the final straw was when two days after their services, we had a black widow spider on one of our rocking chairs. We called to cancel and were berated with text messages saying that a rep would need to speak with us. After cancelling we were charged another $149 and when we called Moxie, the woman was extremely rude. We signed ** in June and they had charged us $129 each month for quarterly services. When my husband questioned the representative at Moxie, she said it didn't matter what the salesman had told my husband, that they had his signature on a monthly contract. Of course, you request your contract, and they aren't willing to send you a copy. Our neighborhood has several new houses being built; we will be sure to spread the word on what a crooked thieving company this is. I will also be posting on every platform that I can about their schemes.Review fromc. H.

Extremely unprofessional company. The sales person traveling around on his Segway should have made it clear that there would be a fee for canceling early. We were not able to complete the entire service based on our special needs childs issues..but even then there is no customer service. Very rude and defensive when we needed to cancel. We were willing to pay for all treatments, just not the additional cancellation fee.Moxie Pest Control, LP

We are really upset that you've had a poor experience with our company. We try to be as transparent as possible when we sign people up. We have a service agreement that is about a page and a half long that details our services. It states it's for a year and five services. If you need to cancel early, we don't charge out the rest of the agreement, we simply ask back the discount that was given on the initial service. I see that this was sent emailed on 6/6/22 for review.Based on the note it looked like the reasons for cancelling were that the pricing was too high and that you were still seeing bugs. We would be happy to work with pricing and offer some sort of coupon to help. Still seeing bugs is common in pest control as it can be a process. You are 100% warrantied for free and we can come out as many times as is needed to handle those bugs.If you want to finish the agreement and pay for the services then we would waive the discount being owed back. Please call us back at ************ and let's fix this.Review fromBeth D

Scam!!! They will forge your signature and sign you into a contract after you agree to a one time service. I say they because i dont know if its the particular sales person or what the company does. They will tell you the email was opened 5 times, which I read several times in other reviews here. Its really odd that they will not investigate their employees when someone complains about not signing something. My husband and I are very honest people that will pay for something that we wanted and signed up for but this was not us. It is neither of our signatures and also we watched our cameras and their employees will sit in the car for 5 minutes and drive off and tell you they completed a service. They tried to charge us for that service. We have proof of that so Im not sure how theyll deny that part. If you care about your business look into the people youve hired and listen to your customers when they express something this concerning. Stop assuming the absolute worst of people or stop scamming people out of their hard earned money because youre too lazy to run an actual respectable business.Moxie Pest Control, LP

We're so sorry that you've had such a poor experience with our company. We tried looking up your account but couldn't find anything. We would definitely want to look into what's going on if you are claiming we forged a signature. We do email a service agreement to you before the service for review before we begin. We also send a welcome text to you, as well as a text telling you we will be back out 4-6 weeks for the next service in the agreement. Obviously if none of this gets to you, or something else was said then we would be happy to investigate. We GPS our field and track clock in and out times for appointments. If you have some sort of evidence or documentation that we didn't service, then we would absolutely want that emailed immediately so we can handle that internally. Please give us an account number, or the address and we can look into this!Review fromYvette Q

1 starsales person came down my street and I fell for it. I have a spider problem and have been handling it by Stem product and cleaning up the spider webs outdoors. I got my outdoor space sprayed twice by Moxie and did nothing to stop the spider problem outdoors. **** worked better and cost less. On top of it, they charged me a cancellation fee of 149 for a product that does not work. Do NOT get sucked into the sales pitch.Review fromRichard W

One thing to remember is to always check the BBB reviews and complaints before you sign a contract with any company. Particularly Joshua's Pest Control or a company called Moxie Pest Control. These companies will rip you off big time. A year ago I was approached by a gentleman canvasing my neighborhood in ****, ******** who told me about ******'s free termite inspection. Since my house is next to a *****, I let them do an inspection. Of course, I had termites , which I really did not, but, they sold me on their program for the Sentricon Termite Protection for $1,900 indicating what I thought had a free inspection the first year. Was I wrong, they showed up this week for five minutes and billed me $300. I rejected the change and told them not to show up again because their service is not worth the charges they make. In retaliation for my cancelling their contract they showed up again and pulled all 12 of the traps. That was exactly $1,900 wasted. Just to keep the protection, I purchased 28 of the same traps to put back in the holes they left for a total price of $297 delivered. That is how big a rip-off ******'s "service" is. They do nothing and charge outrageous prices, then, kick dissatisfied customers in the ****. If you do not want to put the traps in or look at them once a year, hire a handyman for $25 an hour, you will get better service and save about $1,500 up front and $200 a year.Moxie Pest Control, LP

We apologize that we did not adequately explain how our system works. This is not how we want to operate as a company. We are not in the business of hamstringing people which is why we refunded the recent charge for the annual renewal.Sentricon is sold exclusively to licensed and certified professionals and is not available for sale to unlicensed homeowners which is why we come to pick up the stations if the service is cancelled. Whatever traps you've purchased are either illegally purchased or not the same quality bait as the Sentricon system. Please consider this article from a 3rd party site: https://homeguide.com/costs/termite-treatment-cost A direct quote "The average cost of a Sentricon baiting system is $1,200$3,800 for initial installation and $280 for yearly monitoring. Sentricon is touted as the number-one bait system with 60 scientific studies documenting colony eliminationthe termites prefer the bait over wood by a factor of ten."The $1900 is for providing protection around the home for the full year. The $300 charge is not just for the annual visit, but for the full next year of keeping the system in the ground. A random handyman is not going to have access to the bait that is placed in the system. With all that being said, this is a failure on our part as a company to not adequately explain how this works and what you are signing up for. We send this in a document that clearly outlines what we are trying to do and the pricing involved. It is about 1 1/2 pages long. In the future we will try to be more thorough so people understand what's going on and how we operate. Thank you for the review as this information will be used to make us a better company.Review fromHN r

I'm so sorry that you had a poor experience with our company. It looks as though we are abiding by the service agreement that was signed for our charges. It looks like it outlines a $200 discount that was applied is to be asked back if we don't complete the agreement. There is no judgement for us. We wish you well in your future endeavors. You had a termite inspection where our rep found termite tunnels and offered a system. You said yes, then found someone cheaper to do it, which is fine. We didn't charge anything with having to do with termites and charged back the discount as outlined in the agreement.Review fromMichael M

Like the other reviews, they did not take no for an answer when going door to door. They never mentioned that there would be a fee for cancelling service down the line with they forced it down my throat. now I am stuck with a early cancellation fee even when told "they're not like other companies that charge that"... lie after lie. Using every single neighbor's name down the street to help sell their product, again as someone else has mentioned. Whatever gets them their money.Moxie Pest Control, LP

We apologize that you have had a poor experience with our company. It is not our intent to mislead or hamstring anyone! This is why our service agreement is so short. It's around a page and a half long. We also send it to everyone a few days before any services happen to make sure we are on the same page. I do see that it was sent on 8/11/22 and it was opened a few times. We performed service on 8/13/22. Please know that we don't make anyone finish the agreement out we just ask the discount that was given back. There are other companies that do make you finish the agreement out there. We do have multiple customers on the same street that use us. I'm sorry this wasn't a good fit and I wish you well in the future wherever that *** take you.Review fromLucy S

I honestly and definitely encourage you to STAY AWAY from this place. They come out and work on your yard while you are not there. My neighbor has the day and time they came out and it's all on camera the guy just came back out the yard looked at it and leaves. I specifically requested for me to be home while they did this work, you cannot trust no one now a days. When they serviced the inside of my home, this young kid took for ever to come inside the house, they sit in the trucks for so long and then they rush the work. My floor and trim was not sprayed but I had puddles and my trim now needs to be replaced. Do you think what they charged me is going to cover for my trim and labor? Than they had the audacity to charge the early termination fee, when they messed up my trim. STAY AWAY FROM JOSHUA'S PEST CONTROL - FIND ANOTHER COMPANY WHO HAS MORE EXPERIENCED PEOPLE NOT TEENAGERS. And I still have the pest issue.Moxie Pest Control, LP

I'm truly sorry that you've had a such poor experience with our company. We did refund the charge of $126 back to the card we had on file. As for seeing ants around the property pest control is definitely a process which requires multiple services to get under control.I do see some miscommunication with scheduling where we offered to come back out for free, but when we arrived we were turned away in late July. We offered a free service on 8/25 as well, but you said to cancel the account and paid the early termination. You then called us back on 8/26 saying there were ants in the yard still. Please understand that it is not our intent to hamstring you or make you stay with us. Again we've refunded the recent charge and are keeping the account closed. We wish you the best of luck in the future.
