I keep getting harassment calls from another company (AAM) that claims they are acting on behalf of EZCORP EZ Money for a cash loan that I never took out from them (sometime in 2014) according to their records. They alleged that I borrowed over $3,000 but if I agree to pay them $718.00 right now then EZCORP agrees to drop the collections process. The collections company that EZCORP has told me that they already have a judgement against me to put a lien on my house, garnish my wages and bank accounts, and that they are already seizing my assets. (All of which are against the Fair Debt Collecting Act and laws of **********. I have never taken a cash loan from ****** or any of it's partners and am very frustrated with the scam that it appears they are running with their debt collector AAM. I have filed a complaint against AAM with the BBB with an unsatisfactory response and expect and unsatisfactory response with ****** too. What I expect to happen is that EZCORP will reach out to me and either confirm this is my debt through the use of a hardcopy loan application and any documents to support it or to tell their debt collector to stop trying to scam me. I will be filing complaints with the appropriate government agencies as well.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. The business has stated that I do NOT owe this debt and that the "collection" agency ************************* is most likely trying to scam me. The business has encouraged me to contact local law enforcement, my states ************************** FTC, and FCRB board and file complaints. EZCORP also advised me that this AAM has received cease and desist letters from them on this matter, but it continues to commit the fraud and scam that they are doing.

On January 5 I receive a call from Strategic Mediation Services concerning a debt I owe to EZCorp Money. I told the person that I dont remember taking out this payday loan from this company and I ask her when this loan is supposed to been taken out and she indicated the year 2017 she sent me a letter via email and also a document for me to sign for a settlement amount of $600 which originated amount was $978. The first $300 is supposed to be taken out of my checking account on January 10 and the last one on January 31. I feel now that this is a scam after I googled this EZcorp Money I found that a lawsuit against this company for illegal collection practices and in the court doc EZCorp was ordered to not collect any balances that was owed from their consumers and EZCorp. stop doing business as a payday loan company July 29, 2015. This Strategic Mediation Services had all my info and they also contacted my ex-husband about this debt. I have been divorced for over $20 years. Please help me resolve this issue. I am a retired 67 year old with fix income. I feel Im being scam. Also, in the ******************* isnt the statute of limitation is 4 years? Please help meBusiness Response

Received a phone call from a third party debt collector stating attempts were made by EZ Corp to collect an outstanding debt. They could not provide me with the original creditor information and I have never taken out a payday loan or visited a **** shop. They were looking to collect $995 and if I didn't pay, they would *** and garnish wages. They also had the last 4 of my SSN. They said I would have to make a partial payment today in order to postpone any further legal proceedings. I have never received any documents in the mail from this company except what they emailed me today (documents attached). She insisted this is a valid debt and it is not. I went there to get my laptop back for now out of **** It supposed to be $366 that I have to pay them. But they told me I have to pay them $432. Even if I we knew it or add a stitch. And it will cost me 432 dolwash. And a paperwork told me. I only have to pay $366 to get it. But they made me pay four hundred and thirty two dollars to get it out. They told me if I don't want to pay that am out. Then I have to deal with it and let them have it. So I have to pay that amount today on January third two thousand and twenty four. This was at ****** location ****** ********* today. They did not even go by what I got on my paper when I got it in a mail. So I would like the extra mountain that I paid to get it back. On 01/02/2024 I received a 2nd phone call stating that they have been trying to reach me for a long time regarding a debt. I have no recollection of the debt and was assured it was mine and I was been prosecuted in court for fraud and if I didnt not pay it before court. I panicked, Im a single health not good and would be fired from job and loose my housing if this was true. That debt was from several years ago 2019 and when I asked about for a debt validation letter she The woman ****** said they were mediation service for legal action and do not do that. I asked for the documents from any of the courts and was told they didnt have them because the court time hadnt happened yet. All of this was told to me after I feel like I might have been lied to and threatened with a legal action that was not true. All I wanted was some legitimate information on an apparently old debt from 2019 supposedly and she could provide me with no information. Attached is the email the company (Surety Mediation Solutions) sent me after they spoke with me on the. While on the phone, they stated that they will start legal action against me if I refuse to pay the debt immediately. They advised me to make the payment immediately to prevent being served this week. They do have my old employment information from many years ago and the last 4 digits of my SSN. I know for sure I never knew EZCorp, nor applied for a loan. I have not been able to reach EZCorp and wish to have them contact me. I am afraid that my identity has been compromised. Plese reiterate that we have not been collecting on any previous payday loan since 2015. We are required to have record retention for any payday loan customers when we were operating that side of the business. Additionally, this said person has not contacted our office to eliminate whether or not they have ever had a previous payday loan therefore we may not even have any business with them. Please advise them to contact our office to FTC.
