I purchased 160 checks through Harland Clarke and paid extra for expedited and trackable shipping. Total cost was $68.73. It was $44.60 for the checks and $24.13 for the trackable shipping and an expected delivery of 01/03/23. The order was placed on 12/27/22 with a notice saying they would update me with shipping info when the order was shipped. On 01/03/23, I had not received my checks or shipping information. So I called their hotline. No matter what buttons you push, it is fully automated and impossible to speak to a person. I did manage to get a DHL tracking number from them of ************************. DHL shows they tendered to the delivery service provider on 12/31/22. As of today (morning of 01/06/23), I still do not have my checks. After several attempts to talk to someone at Harland Clarke, I called DHL. They stated they handed my checks over to **** on 12/31/22, but do not have any tracking for me as Harland Clarke specifically chose a non-trackable shipping method. Also, that the delivery window is 01/03/23 to 01/09/23.This is infuriating at best. Harland ***** was misleading in the delivery window and flat out lied about tracking (which I paid more for). I am demanding at least half reimbursement for shipping, but they should repay it fully as this delay has put me behind writing checks for weekly services. And if my checks aren't delivered by the 9th of January, I will be updating this complaint.Initial Complaint

I thought I was reordering an order I had ordered In the past This time I only got 2 checkbooks and I thought I was getting 4 for $39 that's kind of steep that's 40 bucks that's like 20 bucks a packet of checks. Plus I noticed these books are a little thicker than usual and they won't fit in my Wallet. And I don't not like being able to talk to somebody they have this automated system and if you don't meet the criteria of what they have on there they hang up on you. This will be the last time I do business with this company through my bank. I find that very rude and very impersonal bad PR. I ordered checks on 10/29/22 and never received them (as of 12/28/22). I called and was routed through the automated caller system which just told me that my checks were shipped in early November and hung up on me (multiple times). I was charged on 11/10/22. I attempted to get in touch with an actual person but was unable to to figure out where my checks were actually sent to.Business Response

************ placed her check order on October 29, 2022, with CheckProtect delivery service. According to DHL (Trk # **********************), the order was placed in her mailbox on November 4, 2022. In our contact with ************, we have issued a goodwill credit for the CheckProtect delivery service charge of $18.68 and placed a replacement rush order with the next check range at no charge. ************ will follow up with her bank to have them place a stop payment on the previous check order.
Further, we recently implemented a change with our contact center consumer phone line that ************ would contact for inquiries and reorders. The line directs consumers whose orders fall within a recent timeframe to our digital channels (web or phone automated system) and/or her financial institution for order status. Thank you for the feedback as we continue to review our internal processes for improvement opportunities.

I ordered my checks on December 11th and they were said to be shipped on the 14th shipped here by the 23rd but now it's December 27th and they haven't come yet. This is unacceptable I need to do an outside state background check and I need a check to do so. But you guys are taking too long and I need this break to finish or it might not get to them in time. ***** was committed against my USAA Bank accounts between 12/21/22 and 12/29/22, enabled by Harland Clarke. An individual posed as the owner of my two bank accounts, and they ordered two boxes of new checks directly from Harland Clarke. In violation of Harland ******* security protocol, they sent the boxes of new checks to a 3rd party address that is different from the address listed on my accounts. $175,000 was subsequently stolen from these accounts via check fraud. I am working with the police, but am notifying the BBB to ensure that Harland Clarke is notified that their security protocols are woefully deficient. I ordered Checks from Harland Clarke on November 14, 2022. I never received a tracking number for the order, although I ordered using trackable and secure order. My checks have never been received. I can't talk to a LIVE person and the *** isn't helping. This is so disappointing. I've used this company since ****. The service is the worst I've ever seen in a banking related company. I work in banking myself. so this is a huge disappointment. I wonder if the customers at my own bank have this type of issue. I'm going to make it a point to talk the point of contact in my bank to see if there are other check servicers. I would hate to think our clients are going through this process. NO service. I ordered checks through Harland Clarke, I paid for the checks through my checking account. The checks were never received. My bank, ********* is refusing to dispute the charge because they are not getting any information back from Harland Clarke. I have been in limbo waiting for these checks since October. On November 3, 2022, I contacted my credit union to order two boxes of checks who then reached out to Harland Clarke to place the order. Then I was told by my credit union they were shipped on November 7th by an untraceable method. Then on November 16th, the payment of $34.76 to Harland Clarke was taken out of my account. I was then told I should receive my checks within **** days. It has now been almost a month and still no sign of my checks. *** tried several times to get hold of Harland Clarke to no avail. Ive emailed and called but both methods referred to the other.I also called my credit union and now they are saying to close my account which *** had for nearly 40 years and open a new one. That is easier said than done because all of my direct deposit and auto withdrawals go through that account. Also, I only write a very few checks per year. All I want is my check order or a refund. Harland Clarke is the check printer for my bank. I ordered checks more than a month ago. They didnt print or send them or notify me in any way that they needed my bank to confirm an address change. I had to have my bank speak with them TWICE to get the ball rolling. They have now sent them to the OLD ADDRESS IN ANOTHER STATE and I need to pay rent in two days. They also promise traceable shipping but sent mine with no tracking! I spent 20 minutes on hold and they wont help me!Business Response

The order was placed on hold pending verification from *********************** Bank and canceled on 11/21/22 per the banks request. *********************** Bank then placed a check order that same day however the mailing address was not corrected, and the order was sent to Ms. ******* old address in CA. On 11/29/22, *********************** Banks Banker called requesting a reprint with Ms. ******* correct ** mailing address on a rush delivery. Harland Clarke confirmed the order was delivered by ***** on 12/1/22. A goodwill credit was issued for the check order placed by *********************** Bank on 11/21/22. I am rejecting this response because:Nice try, but *********************** told me the mistake was on Harland-Clarkes end, both times. We have banked with *********************** for a long time; theyve proven themselves trustworthy. Also, I had to push hard to get the associate to call my bank and fix it, which I got the impression she did not want to do. When you s**** up twice, dont make excuses or pass the buck - just fix it.
