This complaint is against Hawx Pest Control services for refusing to let me cancel without the heavy fees even after months of trying to explain to them over and over that the product has had no effect on my property. I have requested multiple warranty services as well and even hours after each and every service, the pests remain. I am concerned for the health of my family as the West Nile virus has been detected in my neighborhood and because my wife has a serious reaction to mosquito and flea bites. I have explained this to Hawx at least 5 times. Last Friday 4 hours after a spray (a warranty service conducted a few days after the previous service), I counted 25 mosquito bites between 3 people within 45 minutes. In addition, it was not mentioned to me by the salesman that I would have to pay over $400 just to cancel, nor was it mentioned that they will charge me every month throughout the winter even though they dont perform services. The only response I got from Hawx is that the policy is clearly stated in the contract I signed on a tiny tablet in the sun on a hot summer day. The point I am trying to make is that they will not let me cancel even though their product doesnt work for me. I dont believe in paying for something that doesnt work, and the cancellation fee should be waived so that I can hire someone else.Business Response

The date is 10/8/2022, i woke up this morning with bugs all over my floor. I called Hawx for an emergency service as i am in a contract with them for pest control services. They told me they would not be able to get somebody out for two days, this is unacceptable as i paid them to have this already taken care of. I had to go to another service company to get this fixed in a timely manner so i am not spending my entire weekend in a house with bugs crawling all over. Having to go to another service and it being an emergency cost me big. This should have never have had to happen. I want to get out of my contract and go with another service company as i am not happy with this companies service and their product as it has failed. I found a more local company that can do same day services and has an emergency crew for reasons just like mine. I WANT OUT OF MY CONTRACT NOWBusiness Response

Todays date of 10/8/2022 i woke up and had worms in my house and all over my floors. I am a client of hawx and when i called the service line they said i couldn't be helped for two days. I found somebody from another company to come take care of it today. I would like to cancel the service contract with no penalty because of the lack of service. They come out only every 3 months you figured they would take this more serious and have people on call for this type of thing.Business Response

On July 19, 2022 Hawxs Pest Control located in ********, **. Solicited pest control in out neighborhood. My husband who suffers from Graved Disease was talked into a contract for a year service at ***** dollars a month. After signing the contract he was told they would come out every two months. The first visit we had to reschedule due to no one being home. Four months later and ***** a month I called the company and a rude woman told me we cancelled our appointments due to weather which has no bearing on our service. She threatened to have a copy of the radar pulled up for our area. Anyone can put notes in their computer. We did not reschedule or cancel services we have been paying for. The representative hung up on us when she upset me because she was trying to tell me we had to pay no matter what and they only come out quarterly. The contract changed while we were on the phone. On July 11th of 2022 i signed a contract via the door-to-door technicians' phone. with Hawx pest control for indoor and outdoor chemical treatment of spiders, ants and mice. The tech said there would be a $200 discount on the first service and that is what we would need to pay if we ever canceled the service early. We never received a copy of the contract as promised. On July 15th the first treatment was applied inside and outside the residence.2 more treatments were asked to be done as the initial was not effective.first 3 treatments did nothing to solve or reduce the problem.July 29th called to cancel service. We were told we could not cancel without paying off remainder of contract. option would be to cancel outdoor service to reduce monthly payments to $50 per month. We took this option. 2 months pass with no treatments.Oct 5. Technician arrives and sprays the outside for pests. (the part that was canceled) and leaves.Oct 8. call hawx to insist on canceling contract. operator says we will connect you to a service specialist. as i am on hold the automation asks if I have a positive or negative issue to discuss with the specialist. I select negative. IT HANGS UP IMMEDIATELY.i CALL BACK. Operator says she will have a service specialist call me. They never did.Breach of contract. They did not service our home for 2 months and the service that was provided did no good. we would like any payments sent to Hawx beyond the initial treatment as this service was not provided, along with canceling the remainder of the contract as faith in the companies' moral obligations to stand behind their contract is gone.Business Response

On 6/23 this nice young guy knocks on my door. He asked if I needed any pest control services. I was currently having a bee and frog problem at the time because it was raining nonstop for almost 2wks. He said these services would help with that so I agreed to which I asked multiple times and he confirmed multiple times was a 1 time payment! Then showed me the symbol at the bottom of the tablet that meant it was protected or legit I don't remember the phrase exactly. Then he scrolls all the way down for me to sign where I saw something say recurring, so again I asked this is only a 1 time payment im agreeing to right and he confirms that it is only a 1 time payment and someone would reach out in 3 months to see if i still wanted to continue and recieve another treatment. Later a guy comes and sprays my yard, supposedly he went around my house knocking down any debris or hives. He sent a small collage of 4 photos when he was done. My house isn't small so pictures didn't really capture much. When I walked around my house myself there were 2 nests still up that I can reach with a broom at 5ft, so not sure how this guy who looked at least 5'8'' couldn't. Fast forward to 7/23, another $50 is taken out of my account, also I still have frogs in my yard and bees flying around which I forgot to mention he said are called nose divers/diggers. So I was already waiting for that 3 month call to tell them I wouldn't be needing further services. But here we are 30 days later and that 1 time payment has now been charged again. I emailed them asking why was I charged, I tried calling twice and couldn't reach anyone. Someone called me back to tell me that I was on a contract and that I would be charged every month for the next year and they would treat my yard every 3 months. Definitely not what the sales guy said to me! Also told me that I could cancel for $250. This company is a scam! I could've typed more but it cuts me off.Business Response

Before signing the annual contract with only six months listed on the service schedule, I asked if there was a cancellation fee or penalty. The account specialist read me item #1 on the terms and agreement and said as long as the service was canceled within 30 days of the next visit, I could cancel. He did not mention that the outdoor package's initial service discount would need to be paid, before cancellation. When I called to complain, the account specialist was no longer with the company and was passed to another account specialist who said she needed to pass me to a manager. The manager named ******, said he would close the account and remove the $200 balance owed ( scam) as the service visit is only $80. He did close the account but didn't remove the fee. I called back today and ****** is no longer with the company and the whole process started again. There are hundreds of complaints regarding the service but more regarding the intentional scamming of customers regarding cancellation policies.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: It is not accurate or truthful. I spoke to the sales rep who offered me the service, and I specifically asked if there was a cancellation fee. I was told to read item #1 on the contract which we did together and there was no mention of an early termination fee. I then spoke with ****** who stated he was a manager and was cancelling my account and the early termination fee of $200. When I received an email stating my account was closed there was no mention of the fee being waived. So I called back and was told that he was no longer with the company nor was he a manager. Each call I had with the company either erroneous information was provided or the person no longer was with the company, therefore there was no accountability. MOST importantly I had retained the services for a specific purpose which was ticks on my dog. The service DID NOT fix the issue, and when I later took the dog as she was covered with ticks ( very dangerous to young dogs) I was told that extermination would not help and that I needed to put my dog on oral medication- which I did and that is why I called to cancel my service. The person in charge was not empathetic, nor could she provide me a solution to my complaint. I ordered the service in good faith, I cancelled according to the instructions to item #1 on the contract as referred to by the sales associate ( also no longer with the company).As you can see with the BBB this company has many complaints regarding the same subject. This company's policy, product and customer service are substandard and their product higher than any of their competitors, but the worst part is it DID NOT work as stated.

A door salesman came to my house and said they said they will have a technician in my area spraying the next day and for just 40$ I can get my house sprayed, so I did it. I was never told about a monthly service at all. I told the salesman I couldn't read the tiny tablet and she said it's just to confirm the 40$ so I initialed my name. Then a month later I was charged 40$ and another month later another $40 then I noticed it and called hawx. They informed me that it was a monthly billing and to cancel I would have to pay $220! I was angry and ended up hanging up the phone. The next day I was charged $220 from my bank unknowing of the cancellation. They took my money without my consent and cancelled my account when I didn't cancel! Please help!!!Business Response

Hawx pest control sent a sale person to my home on june the 6th, my wife spoke to the sale person and told him that i made all the decisions concerning pest control. they said they came out and sprayed the yard with pest control chemicals. gate was locked to backyard. company says i owe them ******. i never gave them permission to spray my yard.they said i agreed to an email sent. i or my wife never gave them an email address. sale person forged my name on contract. i want an apology from this company and for them to stop harassing me and my wife. and to stop sending a fake bill. thank youBusiness Response
