A Hawx rep came to my door offering pest control services for $39.99 per quarter not monthly. I signed up for this service but their product left burnt places in my lawn. I tried to get someone to come out and look at it. The grass is still brown in these spots, I first called in July 2022 to get a copy of my contract & to let them know that they have killed my grass in several spots. I told them that I would like to stop their service at that time but they told me I would have to pay $210.00 cancellation fee. I wasn't able to get a copy of my contract until September 2022. The sales rep told me I could cancel the service at any *********** are charging me monthly instead of quarterly as per the sales rep, so the guy out right lied to me. I don't think I should have to pay for a cancellation fee since my grass had several spots that are dead. I never know when they are actually coming to my house for service (they haven't been since the initial visit) I work & there are areas that the tech would need to treat that I would need to be there to let him/her in. Every time that I call the customer service reps are very, very rude. Please AVOID this company at all costs. They are very dishonest & they don't care about their commitments that they make to their customers.Business Response

I agreed to two service calls to spray for flies and mosquitoes on August 1st for a promo price of $54 and then again on August 29th for $109.99 Since then, I lost my job and can't afford to pay for more spraying, not to mention the service was horrid and never got rid of the flies or mosquitoes - both my daughter and mother in law have been eaten alive by mosquitoes. Hawx is supposed to send someone tomorrow to spray again and I called them today to cancel (I never signed a contract with them - it was supposed to be a month to month per the door to door sales person - he specifically told me I could stop the service anytime if I didn't need or want it) so I called them this morning to cancel and they told me that they'd charge my card $195 to cover the entire season as it was supposed to be a year contract which I never agreed to. They said the season ends in October so if I cancel before the six treatments then I'll be charged the $195. I'm going to cancel in the morning regardless and have already called my credit card company who told me that once the charge is out of pending that I can dispute the charge. In the meantime I looked online and there are numerous complaints to BBB as well as ********** of ******** Affairs so apparently they've been scamming people for a very long time. Someone on the consumer affairs website was charged $500 and it taking them to small claims court. This company should be put out of business. I want nothing to do with them and will be disputing the charge and putting a block on them charging my card again or cancelling my card if necessary. I am rejecting this response because:youve refused to give me a refund. And no the contract is not clearly spelled out when its on a sales persons phone and I was given no opportunity to read it. I told the sales man I couldnt read it and he just said sign it. I wasnt told it was a long term commitment. I was told the first spray was half off. Thats it. Not only that we still have mosquitos and flies. There are many negative BBB reviews and bad reviews on Yelp and ********** of ******** Affairs consistency with mine. This company is unethical.

I am rejecting this response because: Yes, that's correct that the contract was sent so that I could read it after I already signed it!!! I literally told the sales person that I couldn't read what I was signing and he told me to sign it anyways. He NEVER said that I was committing to a 12 month contract, he only said I'd be paying the full price for the next spraying. I never agreed to a third time. My review is consistent with many other reviews in that people cannot read the contract on a phone which is very different than a laptop. They can say they're closing the case but I absolutely refuse to close the case on my end. I'm even angrier now as if this company is going to provide contracts that require a signature they should be using a tablet or a printed copy so that the contract can actually be read. I didn't have reading glasses on and again when I told the guy I couldn't see what I was signing he refused to explain it to me and said "sign it anyways." So saying that I opened an email on July 29th is ridiculous as the contract was already in place. This place needs to be put out of business as I'm not the only person who's complained on Yelp, with ********** of ******** Affairs and on BBB.

This complaint is for Hawx services LLC- On Wednesday June 8th, 2022, a Hawx agent knocked on my door and advertised that Hawx was having a sale for only $100 for unlimited service for the rest of the year. He had mentioned that many people on my block were signing up and that this service was one of a kind. I signed up for the one-time $100 payment and unlimited service. A month later I received an email stating that I would be billed for another month. I called customer service and mentioned that I did not sign up for a monthly charge of $100... the representative stated that's not what I had signed up for and in order to break the contract I would need to pay $400 cancelation fee. I told him that company is misleading and a scam. He sent me the contract and said there was no way I can cancel since I already signed. On 10/5/2022 we called hawx because we were not satisfied with the service and simply could not afford the service and wanted to cancel our remaining service with them . We were told we would have to pay a huge amount to cancel but when the sales guy came to the door we were told we could cancel at any time after the first 3 months . This is outrageous I dont have the money to afford this service I should not be charged a huge amount to cancel if I cant afford the monthly payment.Business Response

Hawx pest control, has GOT to be the worst company I have dealt with. They barely do their full service and they only show up when no one is home. They were supposed to do inside. Never did it. They dont even do the backyard!! Absolutely, aweful. I understand when you sign a contract stick with it. But we still have atleast 8 months with this stupid company for them just to make money and do absolutely nothing. They take about 15mis spraying and the rest of their job is literally gathering stuff out of their truck.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear of this matter. If you ever feel that the service has not been done properly, we ask that you please call us and let us know. We can have a different technician come out and do a reservice at no extra charge to you. We also treat the exterior of clients homes with out them there on a regular basis, unless you ask to be present. As for the interior we only do that when requested by the customer prior to the appointment. You need to just call us and let us know ahead of time so we can add it to your appointment. Also, as per your service agreement, we do offer warranty services if you are seeing ******** issues between your regularly scheduled services and they are no extra charge.

I am filing this for my mom. After reading all the negative reviews and stories nearly identical to my mothers it seems this business has a habit of taking advantage of people. A Hawx salesman had her sign a contract after skimming the fine print on his tablet on 7/28. ********, he had explained it was a 4 MONTH service where they would come in 4 times and charge ***** each time. She has already been charged 3 times on 7/28, 8/28, and most recently on 9/29 and they've shown up twice to actually perform the service. She called to confirm over the phone after the second payment that it was only a 4 month service and they had told her yes, it was only for 4 months. She was just charged a third time with no service performed and is now being told over the phone that no, in fact, this was a 12 month contract and they would only perform the service quarterly while charging her ***** for 12 MONTHS. She tried cancelling the services but was also told **** will charge a $200 early cancellation fee, the exact "discount" she was given to sign up initially. The salesman and representative over the phone the first time she called DID NOT say this at all. Very deceitful and predatory to take advantage of those who do not understand the technology. The salesperson breezed over the fine print, encouraging her to sign with a verbal confirmation that it was only 4 months of service and payments. If your sales representatives promise one thing is my mother to blame for trusting their blatant lies? Here's the best part though, this service hasn't worked at all. This is the most mosquitoes I have seen while living here. I want this contract nullified and the early cancellation fee waved. That $200 "discount" doesn't mean anything when you tack it on as a fee after performing your subpar services.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:This is satisfactory if true. Hawx Pest Control recently tried to charge $200 (the initial "discount") to my mother. I hope they keep to their word and the charge wasn't an attempt at collecting the cancellation fee that they just said they wouldn't do.

At the end of June a salesperson knocked on my door and offered my pest control for $49/month and told me there was no cancellation fee. I signed on a tablet too small to read terms on figuring that I would cancel if I didn't like the service. A couple months went by to no noticeable effect of service so I called to cancel on 8/12/22. Upon calling I learned of the cancellation fee as well as learned that the salesperson had entered my e-mail incorrectly and that's why I never received paperwork explaining policy. If I had received paperwork I would have cancelled in the 3 day time to avoid the fee realizing how exorbitant the cost of cancelling would be. In discussions with the customer service representative on 8/12 I was lead to believe that my account would be cancelled with no fee due to circumstances. I was then contacted again on 9/1/22 about fees remaining on my account, when informed of the 8/12 conversation the new representative saw the note said ok and hung up on me. I was then contacted again on 10/4/22 about fees on my account I hadn't paid. I informed the representative of past conversations they read the note and told me there was no way he could remove the fees. To avoid my account going to debt collection or affecting my credit potentially I went ahead and cancelled to the tune of $539.34. I reached out to this company for an estimate around September 11th, 2022. After that they have repeatedly called me, multiple times a day. I have told them I am no longer interested in doing business and requested they did not call me. The company continued to call me so I blocked their number. They then began using other spam phone numbers from multiple states in order to call me. I am a member of the do not call registry. They have continued to make calls despite this fact. I signed up with Hawx Pest Control. They told me that they do more of the yard than the other companies do. For instance I stupidly believed that Hawx would go above & beyond other pest control companies. Well, they are horrible. I have had more roaches and earwigs in my home. I walk outside there are roaches everywhere. There was a small ***** that ran across my granddaughters foot.When the pest control guy came he was at the house for literally 2 minutes. I spoke to him when he got there. I went inside and turned around to go back out and he was gone. Cobwebs and bugs all over the front area. It didn't even look like he had sprayed. I have called and complained. I want out of my contract! I am spraying mu own home because whatever they are using seems to drive the bugs to the house.Business Response

I signed up with Hawk pest control August 25, 2022. I was misled by the sales rep who suggested I would be paying around the same price I paid for my previous pest control. Once I found out I was being billed monthly versus every 3 months as I was led to believe I called to cancel my account just to be told that it would cost me nearly $600 to cancel because I signed a 1 year agreement. I was never told I was signing a contract or that I was going to have a cancellation fee. The service was not even decent and they are terrible to get in touch with. They also cancelled on me more than once for my first servicing and never called until the next day the second time to reschedule and when I called them I couldnt get anyone.Business Response
