We had a door-to-door salesperson dishonestly lock us into a 12-month contract. He told us we could cancel anytime. We were also not told that we would be charged $89 every month for their service, even if they did not provide their service during the month. When we canceled our agreement, we were charged $410 since we received an initial discount. They make it seem as though you are getting a great deal on the initial service, but its just a method to ensure you stay locked into their system. There is no reason the initial treatment fee should be $250 when the recurring treatment fees are $45. Of course the initial fee is so high because they make you pay the difference between the initial fee and your discount when you decide to cancel anytime. We were also told that their treatment was safer than table salt. Imagine our surprise when they showed up in full PPE with respirator! We would never have signed up in the first place if we knew the truth of how toxic their treatments are. They get positive reviews because they tell you to leave a review after treatment and if you do, the service technician gets $5. This is pure bribery for positive reviews. All in all, this is a dishonest company and people need to be away of their scam.Business Response

I was lied to and mislead by their door to door salesman a long with several neighbors in my neighborhood. The sales representative told me the fee would be $49.99 every 3 months and not until services rendered. That is what I agreed upon. This company Hawx had charged my card 2 times in a month. So I called to cancel. That is not what was agreed. I could not get a hold of people they just kept me on hold once they knew I wanted to cancel. They also told me I had to pay a $200 cancelation fee. This is a true scam!!! There are 1000s of complaints on them from all different states. The technician who came out even admitted they do this. He said verbatim he always has to clean up their mess!! He had this problem all the time! I had filed a complain previously. Scott R***** called me after my complaint claims I have a $0.00 balance and admits that they mislead people also!! I called Scott R***** several times and emails! I am still getting calls, texts, and emails about a $200 balance! Nothing has been done! This is harassment at this point. I want this lying, scamming, harassing company to leave me alone and stay away from my home! I read the reviews on them and reports from Facebook, the internet, and here! They are a true scam! I keep getting calls from a number with the name Elizabeth R Odgen Utah, texts from ###-###-####

A man showed up at my door begging for a drink saying how he'd been walking door to door in 100 degree weather, I politely agreed as I was having a bad day and expressed how I found out my brother in law had cancer, he then told me he was with pest control and they were offering free services to everyone on our road, I told them that'd be great, signed a dry erase sheet of my info and asked if he could come the week after once I dealt with family matters, after two days my card had attempted to be charged over 30 times and when I called the company to ask what was going on I got hung up on. Now they are saying the dry erase sheet I signed was a legally binding contract for a 1year service agreement.Business Response

Called Hawx on 07/25/2022 and spoke to ***** regarding a balance due of $54.11 and we did not receive any service. I was told an email was sent out to their customers that they were changing to monthly billing and we didn't respond we were automatically enrolled. We did not receive no such email. I was then advised our next service appt. was to on 08/04/2022. (My preference has always to pay for services when completed - QTRLY. I would have NEVER agreed to this) I paid it on 07/25/2022 at a discounted amount after they adjusted their fee. On 08/04/2022 we never received service. I called on August 7th wanting to cancel our service and receive a refund for what I paid on 07/25/2022 - $43.29 and spoke to **** who was no help. He did not understand why I deserved a refund. I then disputed the amount with Chase CC. on 09/13/2022 another email sent of the balance due. My husband called and spoke to ******* who said the account is closed but we still owe a balance for $43.94 - FOR NO SERVICE! This is NOT right. They never showed up on 08/04/2022 per *****. They should not be trying to collect $43.94 as a prepayment for service when they never showed up on 08/04/2022. The last time we received service was on 04/14/2022 and that was paid for $108.24 on 04/15/2022.Business Response

These guys came to my door about a month ago, soliciting. They said it would be ***** per visit, and I agreed to that.What they meant to say is that they are going to charge you every month, even if they don**;t come out. I had to have my bank stop payment on everything including the $210 they tried to charge for a cancellation fee.Business Response

UPDATED:In July of 2022, I was approached by a Hawx Pest Control Representative at my door. He was friendly, knowledgeable, an coercive. I listened to him and his speech about the product he was offering and when I told him I was strapped for funds, he made me a "special deal". The deal was a $39.99 payment for a quarterly visit. He also went on by saying that I could cancel at anytime! Sounds great! I accepted and signed the (what he said wasn't a real binding) contract. Fast forward a month and I noticed a $39.99 charge on my account. I called to find out why and was informed that the $39.99 charge is a MONTHLY charge with quarterly visits. So I requested a refund/ cancellation and was told that it would be a $200 cancellation fee! I can't afford that nor would I have agreed to sign for the service that I was apparently misinformed about. They said they would call the representative to confirm to see if they can assist me further. I just hate when company's representatives use tactics like this in order to make a sale. If you're approached by one of their reps, have them break down EVERYTHING that's in the "non-binding" contract. How **** of me.UPDATE: They called me back after I told them I would contact the Better Business Bureau and they told me they contacted the salesman (who was a manager apparently) and he himself admitted to not disclosing everything he shouldve to me including the absurd amount to cancel a contract. BUT even after the admit of a mistake on their part, they refuse to release me from the non binding contract. Oh and the number they listed under my ****** review, ************, that they said I should call immediately to resolve the issue, doesn't work. The line either doesn't exist or has been disconnect for some time now. I have read through the reviews that mine is under and the problems are the EXACT same as mine. Services I spoke with the sales team before purchasing was not rendered. Company advised they could handle an African bee/wasp problem I was having. They told me for $50 they can handle that and spray earring the house inside and out. When service provider came on 7/18 he sprayed inside and out. When I asked about the additional services he said we don’t do that. I called the sales guy back and didn’t hear back from him until 7/19 he advised he was going to call the center manager and have someone come back it. They never came back out on 7/21 I asked for the services to be canceled if they could not provide the service. He said they can give me half credit. After numerous calls on 9/12 I spoke to a rep that said send her the text with me requesting to cancel it and she would cancel my services at no penalty. Then I get a call back saying they could not do that and I would have to pay a penalty. This is crazy so I have to pay a service you could not provide they I canceled the service I’ve no one came out and I still have to pay a penalty pay after your rep said I would not have to. I have the email and I know you all have it too… so I think this is a common sense matter that can easily be resolved. My account number is ******. When Hawx first cane to my home to solicit their service, I explained that I already had pest control and was not in need for another company. The salesperson then started to refer to the issue that I have (which is also common in the area of ******* that I'm in) and stated that the company would be able to help with snail removals and whatever products they use would keep the snails away. I asked the gentleman multiple time is he sure his products will help deter snails from the home and I was told yes amongst them being able to do a fog for mosquitos. I never wanted the general package because again, I already had a pest control that I was happy with. I told the salesman that I would try it out and that if I see a difference that I would choose Hawx over my current company. To make a long story short, there has not been any change at all. In fact, there are more snails that are attracted to my home now then there have been for the entire year that I have been here. I called Hawx to cancel and explained why and said everything I was told about what **** was able to do is not what I am seeing, pretty much, the service that I was told I would receive and the results of those services have not been fulfilled. Now I am being told of cancelation fees, I was never told about being under any type of financial commitment and I would have never agreed to have HAWX treat my property if I had know. I was told by a manager that the information was in the agreement, well the salesperson came here with an IPAD and pretty much said sign here and here. So she said we'll we emailed you the agreement, well I'm thinking this salesperson is being honest in his word, I did not think to refer back to the document once he left. I told the salesman I was a single mom and I have special needs kids, it feels like predatory sales practices where he used the fact that I was a single mom to get me to sign on because as he said "he wants the kids to feel OK when outside". On August 12 a man named **** (that's who i was told by the csr rep) knocked on my door and told me for today only, HAWX was in the neighborhood offering deals for doing pest control services. He told me that the service would charge $45 dollars quarterly to come out and spray for bugs and inside the house/garage. I was hesitant about signing up but we went on to discuss on 2 more times in this conversation that it was a quarterly charge and they would come out quarterly. He said I could cancel at any time since this was a special they were doing right now. He took my information on his tablet that he was using and stated I needed to start the service at that time and later that day someone would come out to my home to perform said services.because their truck was in the area. I went ahead with the service and gave him my credit card at that moment to begin service. Today I see i was charged another $45 dollars for service. i proceeded to call 'cause 1) I didn't get a call for when they would be out so why am I being charged and 2) Did i just pay my quarterly service charge. So I called the customer service rep. I was informed that my $45 charge was a monthly charge and not a quarterly charge. I then asked to cancel. The rep then goes on to tell me that I checked my email 26 times and that my cancel fee would be applied. I asked to speak to a supervisor who wasn't available and ****** would call me back. I never recv'd a call & called back myself. ****** was unavailable so I spoke to ***** who tells me that there is nothing ****** could do about the cancellation fee as the initial charge was a discount to a full years service and if I had called within 3 days I would have received a zero charge cancellation. I remarked I was going off what the initial rep told me and wouldn't have known he gave me incorrect information about the service & charge not being quarterly. A sales representative for Haux came out and quoted us $40 to start and a service guy could come out same day. He came out the next day we were billed $40, this was July. Then we discussed quarterly billing and spraying. Then we were billed in Aug. $115 with noone out to spray. I contacted Haux to follow up because we talked about change to better the price and service. I explained that to the representative when I called. She started to explain so many things and none and told her I just want to cancel. I asked the sales guy if I wasn't happy if I could cancel at no charge, he said yes. Now, this representative is telling they are billing for 3 services and each one has a cancel fee and to cancel it would cost me hundreds of dollars. Representative was rude and had no care in the world. I contacted the sales guy and was like well yesthats right etc when I said no that's not what you said and looking at Haux reviews now I'm not the only one getting played. Plus I told him that I have bugs and spiders every and with the other service I had. It's been horrible. Then today I was billed again and no service guy out to our property. I want Haux to just let us go out of our contract for free so we can just depart ways. If they do that then we will not think about taking it any further into a small claims court or class action suit with others.Business Response
