A salesman representing Hawx Pest Control came to my door on July 11, 2022. He stated that the company was offering $40.00 pest treatments for homes in the area. For a year, the company would treat outside properties every three months, for $40.00 per treatment. The salesman asked me to initial on his I-Pad to hold my spot, and said I could cancel at any time. I reviewed the document before initialing. There was not a payment schedule on the I-Pad, as was later shown on their website. I was not given access to the "contract" until after the technician conducted the first treatment, which was on July 15, 2022, after the "3 day cancellation" period. The treatment took the technician about 10 minutes. I received an email to pay the bill $40.00 plus $3.30 tax. I payed the bill July 26, 2022.I then received an email for charges on August 11, 2022 for $43.00, they had charged on my credit card.I called and the receptionist sent me to accounts payable. That person told me that I had signed a contract, then said she would have her supervisor contact me. I did not hear from the supervisor. $40.00 was a fair price for the treatment, but $120.00 plus tax is not. I believe the sales tactics were fraudulent, and the 3-day cancellation not clarified. According to the written contract, that I did not receive until after July 15th, that "To cancel this transaction, mail or deliver a signed and dated copy of this cancellation notice...to Hawx services, LLC, ***************************************************************** not later than midnight of 7/14/22". That timeline would have been impossible to get a letter to them in time, even if I was aware of the cancellation policy. I am also concerned about the safety of the product, as the salesman said they advise animals be kept off the yard for one hour. But the tech, told me 2 hours, after the treatment was applied.Business Response

on Sat. 06/25/22 ******************* a Rep ***** man from Hawx ********** Control knocked on my door, when I opened up my door there was ******************* with no service vehicle. Just a badge and an Ipad. He than began to explain what he does. Me just moving into my home I was interested. He than told me about a deal for a ONE time service for pest control (should of known it was a SCAM) he told me he could do the service later that day but didn't have van as he laughed. He said that he would send someone out that day, So he had me sign for the ONE time service. He wanted me to pay yet I was still scatched as he just some stranger knocking on my door asking for money. So he left, A hour later ***************************** Service Technician came and did the pest control which took 10 minutes even though it should take long than that. I paid in full the $42.22. A month goes by and i get an Email about me owing the same amount. I called and spoke to a man. I told him that I had already paid, he told me that I had another service which is why I owed. I told the man that i did not want anymore service and to cancel it, He said he would take care of it. Now today @ **** I get an Email about owning $85.07 for service. So again I called to resolve the issue. I was told that I signed for a 12 month agreement. I then stated that i did not and I was not paying for something i did not want in the first place. I than spoke with a Manager of Hawx. She told me there was nothing they could do and that i signed for 12 months. I that told the lady i don't want or need their service and that ******************* lied about his service and made me sign a Ipad that was not working properly at the time in the sun where it would be hard to know what I am signing. She than told me that i would have to call ******************* to have him cancel it and there would be a $210 for a fee. I engaged in Hawx services about 2 years ago and canceled my account with them. Recently they started emailing me saying they were going to start charging me for services again. Despite several emails back and forth with their acknowledgement that I want to cancel services, they have refused to do so. Additionally they started billing me again.This is fraudulent and unethical business behavior. HelloThe very first visit, the person was not a professional, I had to help him make decisions and help him physically do the job (hornets). I have had to call Hawx Services multiple times because they did not let me know they were coming to my house and showed up. I called at end of July-early August to cancel the services as I was told my contract would be ** in August. I was told that I would have to pay $150 to cancel or pay the $50 in August because that is when the last service would be provided. I was told to call back at end of August to cancel. I called on September 7th and was told that the last service has not yet been provided and the earliest is the 16th of September and I cannot cancel until the last service is finished. I was told to call back again by September 30 so I would not be charged for September to cancel the services. Basically I was told the same thing in July/August. it seems to be a repeated announcement to keep charging me and not allow me to cancel the services. And to top it off, I still have hornets and ants just like I did when I did not have Hawx services.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
A friend of mine just had a service done from a local business pest control and she said wow, all the dead bugs laying around. I never found dead bugs only very much alive bugs ( like box elders, hornets, ants) in the highly Hawx treated area; which tells me the service was a failure. My friend was a one day treatment, Hawx serviced my house for a year! I am embarrassed I payed that much money for a service that did not do the job they were hired for! I appreciate they confirmed my cancellation after 3 attempts. It makes me wonder if they were actually spraying chemicals or water downed solutions?

I fell for the same ploy as others have shared here. The guy comes to my door and says he has a crew in the neighborhood and would I like to have my property sprayed for pests for $50.00. I should have been more suspicious when he said I could only pay with check or credit card. I was only suspicious enough to pay with a check thinking it would be more difficult for someone to access my account than a credit card. He asked me to sign a receipt on a laptop but never mentioned anything about a contract. A month later they accessed my checking account using the routing number from the check I wrote and took another $50.00. When I realized what they were doing I contacted my bank and let them know I had been scammed by this salesman and they recovered that $50.00. As one of their customer service representatives was quoted to have said, others found it necessary to close their bank account to prevent their taking any more of my money. *** told each of the people they sent to my house or called me that I did not agree to any services beyond one time.Business Response

there door to door sales men are scammers.. They get you into the initial spraying with a discount rate and tell you they would like you to stick with then for a year if you like the service... Service was bad, whole ant colony moved into my house, they never called me or texted me again till after the 2nd visit which I didnt authorize.. Then they try to tell you its a $500 cancelation .. Even though the verbal contract didnt match what they scammed you into signing.. to cancel you have to talk to an account specialist, they transfer you to an indian call center and wont cancel you unless you agree to bribing them for $500, you tell them no, and they try saying well what about $250 ... They wont cancel you through email and tell you that you have to contact there account specialist..Also you should know all these 5 star reviews are because as soon as they spray they sprayer texts you saying please give him a good review because he gets an extra $5 for a good review.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The door to door salesman told differently from what was in the paperwork was, and as stated in this company's response regarding me opening the email, the salesman who knowingly was scamming me had me open up the email and the attachments just to "verify" that I received the email and the attachment, well fully knowing he was scamming me and that this was part of the scam. If more proof regarding there scam is needed , look at the other thousands of complains and negative reviews showing what they are doing to people

My home was approached by a young man wanting to use up the last of their supplies from a larger job they had done in town. It was for a one time deal that he would spray for bugs around the outside of my house. I asked him 2 times if that was all I had to pay was $49.00 and he assured me that was all. He reiterated that they was just trying to use up the extra supplies they had from a larger job. That was in May I believe. A person came about an hour later and sprayed the backyard and left. Now I keep getting charged every month for this service that the service man said I signed a contract. He sent me s screen shot of the contract and it was signed but not my name. And at the bottom it shows a place for an electronic signature with my initials typed in (RM). I asked the man that called to setup an appointment to spray 3 months later and he said it cost ****** to get out of contract. He informed me that I wasn't the only one that he has heard this problem from and apologized that I wasn't happy but he could not do anything but spray. The very first appointment went very well and then nothing went right from that day forward. I tried several times to contact customer service. All I got was attitude and no resolution. I don't work from home, so I lost a lot of time and money waiting on technicians that never showed up. Then I was even charged when I didn't even receive services. If that's not enough, I had to pay $300 to get out of this nightmare. What a scam. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I would not recommend this trainwreck to anyone. Look elsewhere So , I paid $700 for 2 on site appointments. The 2nd visit, the technician was rude and asked me what he was supposed to be doing. I asked him if he had notes or anything and he said "no, it's your job to tell me". That didn't seem right to me, plus he was rude.You will see Many other complaints about this company . I wish I had also seen them before hiring them. I don't like that they make me sign a year contract before they will provide any service at all. My first service (MAY 16G) with Hawx pest Control was fine.Although the second service (June 16) the tech did a very poor job. I sent emails stating the poor job, including photos.I received no call backs or the option to come back out and retreat. As they said during their sales pitch. Also, I requested that I receive a phone call 30 mins before a tech arrives, so that i can be sure the dogs are in the house. The dogs would have attacked him if he entered the back yard, lucky i was home at the time. I went back and forth with a customer service rep,( talked fast so you could not ask questions)until he hung up on me. The ************* (July) never happened, no notice of scheduling, no phone calls, nothing. Yet I was being charged. I talked to 3 different people regarding this situation and was given 3 different excuses.One person actually told me the tech was at my house on 7/16. Stating in his notes that the dogs where not put up, so he could not treat. (It was a Sat and i was home all day, there was not Tech that day).Finally after being on hold for 20mins I talked to a manager, he then tells me that a tech will be out on the 7/29. This did not happen. Hawx has not been to my house (to service) since 6/16. No calls, no emails, nothing. Yet I am still being billed. I have sent registered letters to both their home office and local office. I seem to be locked into this ********************* pay a $400. Cancellation fee. (Repay of any discounts.)Business Response

I am writing this on behalf of my mom, ***********************. Her Account # is ****** On 5/**/** a salesman came to my door and talked me into signing up for what he told me would be 4 treatments over a year, with each service being $39.99 plus tax. And, after swiping my credit card, had me sign a small tablet. When he wanted me to initial, I said it is too small to see, he laughed and said that everyone says that, just initial here and here for service. I confirmed that I pay $39.99 today, and then 3 more times for the whole year, meaning 3more charges of $39.99 each, correct? He said yes but it comes in monthly installments, implying the remaining 3 payments would be split up so it was a smaller monthly charge. My daughter was right there with me and can validate this. I paid $43.11 that day (including tax). I noticed they had charged $43.11 on 6/27/22, I called to let them know I was not due for another couple of months, and that I did not see anyone come in ***** The *** said they did come and that they are taking $43.11 out EVERY MONTH for 12 months, but only coming to spray every 3 months. I said that is not what I was told, so I want to cancel and was told I signed a contract for this. (Apparently when he made it seem like I was signing for my credit card, it was really for this) and that there is a $220 cancellation fee. As soon as we hung up, there was a $226.38 charge pending on my card. I am not the only person who has had this issue with this company. I think it is wrong and that they are taking advantage of seniors who may not understand the technology or are unable to see the actual agreement they sign.
