Hawx seller came knocking on our door April 2022 sold us on pest control told us the pest control included web removal mice traps and removal upstairs and down stairs web removal and spraying. The web removal was suppose to be everywhere seen. We started seeing mice droppings and we told our pest control technician to put traps down. We were then informed that we didn't have that service in our contract and tht would be an extra charge. When initially we were told we had the mice trap and removal i. Our contract. We were told the contact was to be 6 months long. After the 6 months we taught the contract was over like it was explained to us we called hawk and we were told it was a 1 year contract we went trough with the 1 year because it was only 6 more months. The contact was over June ***** today August 2022 I had a hawx technician knocking on my door telling me the contract was not over but it had rolled into a month to month charge of ***** until I called in to cancel it. I called in to cancel and called to request a refund for the ***** I was charge without my consent of extended month to mont contract and it was denied because they said I should have canceled in June of 2022. If it is a 12 month contract it should cancel at the 12 month not rolled into a month to month wich we were not aware of. I would like the BBB to help me get my ***** refund. The hawx sellers are not honest they have customers on ****** stating they were tricked into a 12 month contract like I was.Business Response

On 7/16/22 I spoke with a rep named ***** from Hawx Pest control. I set up a appointment for them to treat my home monthly. On 7/18/22 I received a text from a technician named ****** stating that he had completed the services inside and out. I replied that it was impossible because I had been home all day waiting for them. He checked his paperwork and apologize stating that he went to the wrong address. I asked him to cancel the services. He apologized again saying that they had already charged my card $39.00. He gave me the phone number to the office . I spoke with another representative which said that she would help with the cancellation. Today 8/31/22 I have not received the refund and they charged my card again for the amount of $39.00.Business Response

On 6/8 I signed up with Hawx pest control. In the signing up process I was never told that I was signing contracts. The word contract was never mentioned by the sales lady. I went through with getting the services and completed the first one a few days later. The next month when I get a charge from the company on my card I am confused. I start looking up the company and reviews only to see that this company only does business through contracts and I have been tricked into signing one. I was told that the signature is to give permission to complete the services and that I pay after each service, not monthly. I called in an attempt to explain and cancel but you can not cancel without a $200+ cancellation fee. This is my second complaint to bbb, as I will get nowhere with the company's representatives. The communication is terrible and as of today I have paid for 2 months worth of service, with none completed in that time. I wish to close my account with no further charges or services, and I would like my $169 back as well. I do not appreciate being taken advantage of by companies like this, and it proves you only care about the money not customer satisfaction. You don't get to lie to your customers and then place the blame on them when they no longer want your services. Stop lying to your customers and be honest, Hawx.Business Response

Representative from Hawx Pest Control came to our house and offered his services. He said that the fee would be $69 a month. I said NO. He came back with another offer of $39 to spray inside, outside of house and remove all spider webs and 1 bees nest. I asked him if I wanted to cancel services at anytime, if there would there be any cancellation fees. He said there would be no fees and I could cancel at anytime. Nothing was ever said about a 1 year contract during any discussion. So we shook hands, TWICE, on the deal that we agreed upon. $39 paid that day, spray inside and outside, remove webs and 1 bees nest, cancel anytime, no fees or questions. He also stated that he would do the deal because he was trying to get 2 more appointments to fill out the service techs day. Tech came next day and performed services. No complaints. Called today, 6 days later, to cancel services and was told that if I cancelled I would have to pay $210. Told the account manager what was agreed upon between me and their representative she stated that I would either have to continue service or they would apply the cancellation fee to my debit card on file. I said the debit card has already been removed from the account. She said if we cancelled then they would turn it in to a collection agency if we did not pay. I asked to speak to someone above and they refused to give me any contact information. She stated that I was already talking to that person. Got email immediately after hanging up with the company stating that my account was closed.Business Response

On June 21, 2022, a friendly, smooth-talking salesman came to my door offering a one-time pest control treatment for $39. He said it would be interior and the garage as well. It seemed too good to be true, but he assured me all my neighbors were signed up. I got no receipt. When the technician came, he told me the treatment was only for exterior. This, after I had already moved furniture, etc. away from the walls in preparation. He insisted that doing the exterior was the best method and they would come back for free if I noticed any bugs afterwards. I guess if I had paid by cash or check, the scam would have been revealed. I then noticed a charge of $39.99 on my credit card statement. When I called to complain, I was told I had signed up for a year's long package of treatments, and it would be an additional $210 to cancel. This customer service man said if I could provide Ring camera video of the conversation to prove my point, they could consider a complaint, which was of course impossible. I was not used to talking to such a rude, argumentative, low-life con who clearly was used to dealing with calls such as mine to no avail. He refused to give his last name and refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor. I complained to my credit card company of fraud, but am afraid that I am about to learn a financially painful and humiliating ******* This outfit should be shut down immediately, prosecuted, and all complaining customers' money returned. When their prices increased more than doubled, I called to cancel. I spoke with a CS representative for quite some time and she agreed to get it as close to my original amount as possible. I have been a customer for 5+ years. She verbally told me they would lower the amount to $39.99 per month and I agreed. Then for the next 2 months I was charged the higher amount. I called again and when they would not honor the amount I was quoted, I asked to cancel. They did look in the notes and see my phone call but the amount they said was in the notes was $44.99. I asked to cancel during the most recent call. I asked him to also credit me back the difference in the amount they had in the notes vs the amount I was actually charged. He refused. So I was charged more than what they had actually told me and they won't even credit the difference. He was very argumentative and said he would credit that amount if I didn't cancel. Hawx offered to service my house for 30 dollars a month. They came out in July of 2021 serviced my house and said they would be back in August, and September to spray for mosquitoes and if we needed to spray for spiders in between let them know. They never showed ** in August or September called them in October to ask about they said sorry you needed to call and request. I said no they told me they would be back out. So instead of arguing I signed up for a Pest control treatment for them to come treat in October they didnt show up called them and said they were sorry didnt have me down to do any services so they said we got you scheduled for the 2nd week of November never showed up again so I called and canceled. Then I get a bill for 471 dollars called and asked about this and they said we had to charge you 30 a month from when you canceled until your contract was up which they said nothing about and I also had to pay a early cancellation fee which they never mentioned either. This company is very dishonest and never tells you about any fees. Besides the quart key monthly fee of ******************************************************************************************** paying a early cancellation fee.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I didnt get the service I signed up for. I have already paid 90 in 2021 and I only received 1 application when I paid for 3 I think my account should be paid in full and no more money needs to be paid. The company told me there was no cancellation fee when I signed ** in July 2021 and I called Hawx in November of 2021 to cancel but never got cancelled until I reached out to BBB.

On May 25th, 2022, a young man from Hawx came to my house and spoke to my son about spraying the house one time to try it out. He told us it was just a one time fee of $40 for a spray so I signed a check for my son and he gave them his email and my phone number while I headed out. We Never Signed Anything. The employee did the service and we thought that was the end of it. Well, yesterday, an employee from Hawx came to my house and says they are here to complete services. I had never agreed to get any more services and I told him I only paid for a one time spray. He looked at my account and noticed that there was just a check**** where the signature should be and said this has happened before, said it wasn't right, and apologized for the inconvenience. He went to his vehicle to talk to his manager to sort this out (at least that's what he said) but left after a few minutes without resolving anything with me. I checked my bank account afterwards and noticed that they had been taking out $40 for the past three months! I called the company over three times, explained my situation each time, and they said they could not do anything and that I would have to pay a fee of $210 if I wanted to cancel. When I told them I never signed anything, they said that check **** on the agreement counts because some people just put a dot as their signature so I can't do anything about it which is RIDICULOUS. They said I had three days to cancel after getting the agreement and since that time had elapsed, I could either wait until next year to cancel to stop it from automatically renewing or pay the cancellation fee now. Since my son put his email, WE DID NOT SEE OR OPEN the agreement until I talked to him about it yesterday and that's when he checked his email and found the one they had sent with the agreement. Now I've had $120 taken from my bank account over something I did not agree to!! This is one of the most unethical business practices I have had the misfortune of experiencing.Business Response

On or about August 1st 2022 a sales representative came to my home and offered me a discounted service. They showed me a piece of paper which I had initialed which showed that I would to pay $60 for the entire year I paid the initial $60 on my credit card on the same day. I am now being billed $60 a monthly. I called up Hawks and asked what happened and they said I signed a contract with recurring charges I said there's absolutely no way I did that I asked them to send me the contract and they sent me a contract without my signature on it it has some other signature that is not mine. On June 17, 2022, a salesman knocked on the door selling pest control. Since we had a service already the conversation shifted to mosquitoes and we agreed to try the initial service on the 20th and, if all went well, the rest of the season (through October).We paid for the initial service $50 plus $4.13 tax and agreed to $50/month for July- October. On July 25 we received an email for the first month. It was set on autopay with the initial card given.On August 16th we received an email for the second month. Today, we received an email for 2 months listed as past due. A phone call to customer service confirmed no ******************** were provided in July or August. The reason listed was because they did not receive payment and would not provide any service until the monthly fees were paid.We asked to be transferred to billing. Billing repeated the same information. We asked why they hadnt called to say there was an issue or to schedule. She said we were scheduled but canceled due to no payment. When we said we would not pay for services not provided, she said that was fine she would send it to collections.No attempt by either person to make the situation correct.We asked to cancel and we were told we could for $199.
