Hawx pest control employee ***** approached my door told me about all their services etc. I said well we actually use *****. He said let me show you how much money you can save if you choose hawx. I then said okay cool but does youre product work? He said its all plant based natural products. I said what if I dont like it or it doesnt work? He said this isnt a contract so you can cancel at anytime. I said okay sure lets try it out. He says to sign a paper to allow access to provide a service and lets see if you like it. I sign a form. Then I get a bill I said okay Ill pay the bill but I no longer want youre services because Orkin product works better and ***** said well itll be better to just keep our services because itll be cheaper I said I only signed up to do a trail run to see if I would like the product etc and I dont and since I dont like the product I dont want anyone on my property providing a services I dont want. I just received a bill for $734.45. I was told when I called to cancel my service that I was in a binding contract. I said I didnt sign a contract and I never received a copy of a contract nor is there one posted to my account. Im not paying for a service that didnt work.Business Response

A sales rep came knocked on my door back on June 2022. After telling me about the services I declined twice, but was told he would give me special pricing. Like many other complaints on here I was given the price of $49 for this service every 90 days. Now, they want to charge me $49 every month because that is actually the terms of the agreement, which is not what the sales rep originally stated.This is a bad business model only to trap customers into a service contract, and when you try to cancel they will charge you an early termination fee of over $200.Business Response

On June 20th, ********************************************************** pest control. The man said that it would only be ***** for the next few months and that once the temperature drops that they would stop services and resume when it gets warmer. For the last 3 months Ive had $100 come out of my account monthly for a service they have only half done, or not done at all. They havent been spraying my backyard. Just today the man who came only sprayed my front. So not only was I misled about the price, they havent even done what they said they were going to. I still have an unbelievable amount of bugs for them apparently coming out and spraying monthly. I was told today that for me to cancel I will have to pay an ungodly amount. This company is a scam and will try and cheat you out of your hard earned money.Business Response

On August 03, 2022 a sales agent from Hawx came to pur door, unsolicited and gave us a pitch for pest control. We agreed to monthly service only because the sales agent said he was offering month to month service and we could cancel at any time with no penalty. We contacted Hawx on August 25, 2022 and advised the phone agent we wanted to cancel service. The phone agent said we would have to pay $250 to cancel as we signed an annual agreement. He asked if we recalled the sales agent at our home turning his iPad around for us to sign the agreement. That was, according to the phone agent , when we agreed to an annual contract. I told the phone agent that when we signed the iPad to set up automatic payments and when signing we confirmed with the salesman this was a month to month service and we could cancel service at any time. That was the primary reason we agreed to ************** we specifically said we did not want an annual contract.Hawx is a predator and older people are their prey. We were scammed by the Hawx sales agent who came to our home. We want our service ended immediately with no penalty as did not willfully agree to anything but month to month pest control service.Business Response

HAWX Pest Control salesman verbally sold me a service plan that was later emailed to my spam account. I agreed to 4x a year at $50.00 per service. The agreement shows initial service at $249 with $200 discount and initial payment $49 with reocurring totals of $50. Agreement form is very deceiving showing the 12-mth quarterly service schedule dated with amounts of $50 checked off for 07/22, 10/22/22, 01/23/23, 04/23/23. Attachment also states Customer authorizes ** to charge *************** account for initial service and automatically thereafter on a monthly or quarterly basis determined determined by customer on page 1 of agreement. Hawx has since started charging my acct $50 on 08/22. when I called they said they no longer offer the quarterly plan. I hung up and the called me back to hear me say I was cancelling and they immediately charge $200 to my acct.Business Response

A young sales representative named *********************** showed up at my door offering me a deal to sign up for Hawx pest control. He said that he had just signed up a bunch of my neighbors and if I signed up that day he could give me a huge discount on my initial fees and my monthly fees. He told me that their products are organic and safe for pets and humans. This was important to me because I have children and a new puppy who play in the yard a lot. He told me if I wasn't satisfied he would cover my cancellation fees. He told me that their products would completely rid my yard of mosquitos and they come back as many times as you need. If it didn't work, he said I could cancel and he noted in their system when he signed me up that **** will cover the cancellation if customer not satisfied. I saw him enter this on the iPad device he used to sign me up. After the first service when they sprayed pellets all over the outside of my house they also put a big poison sign saying to stay off for several hours. I called **** to ask him about that and **** told me he moved back to ****** and was no longer with the company! but he would call his supervisor and ask. He called me back and told me that supposedly its safe but they recommend you stay off it for a few hours after they spray. After the initial treatments the mosquitos were still bad around my house. I called and had them come out to fog one more time and it still didn't make a difference. My wife and I were not satisfied and concerned about the puppy stepping in their chemicals so I called to cancel and told the customer service rep the whole story. Of course they said there were no notes on my contract about **** covering my cancellation (despite the fact that I saw him type it in the notes). I spoke to several supervisors and tried to offer a compromise of a lesser cancellation fee and they insisted they had to charge me $449.99 and there was nothing they could do. Had service to start on 8/10/22, and was billed for that day. Then turned around was billed for the 8/11/22, 8/12/22. I sent a email with no response. I called and was told that my money would be put back on my card by the next day. I explained I was on a fixed income and that their overcharge caused unexpected expenses for me. Didn't matter no care in the world and as of 8/24/22 the money still not been repaid.Business Response

On 7/22/22 a sales individual came to my home while I was working in my garage. He explained that they can offer pest management. I asked how much it is and how often. He indicated that I would only be billed when they come out for service. He said they come out quarterly for regular maintenance and monthly in spring/summer. He said that I always get an email a week before as a reminder, then a text message a few days before to confirm and then a call the night before so it allows opportunity to defer another month or so. I indicated that we are getting new siding on the house so not sure if we would want to continue service as I think some of the issue is coming from the siding. He said it wouldn't be a problem and I can cancel at any time without any fees. I thought it was a good option so he just told me to sign twice on his tablet and said it was to allow them to have someone come out tomorrow (7/23) for our first treatment. On 7/24/22 I called the number on the contract because I wasn't interested in continuing and just thought it would be better if we just did our own pest management. When I called, the number just rang but no one answered and I couldn't leave a message.On 8/22/22 I received an email notifying me about my monthly charge. I was confused because I never received an email, call or text and did not think they provided any services. I emailed and was directed to give a call. When I called, someone did answer and it was **************** said that I don't recall anyone coming for service and she said that it is a monthly charge regardless if service is provided or not. I indicated that I felt very misled as I wanted to cancel given that when I talked with the sales individual he was clear that I can cancel whenever without additional charges and he said I would only be charged when service is provided so there was a clear misunderstanding and want to cancel without any fees. I am rejecting this response because: the response was not clear. I previously wanted to cancel services and told that if cancelled, I would still be 100% responsible for all charges for 1 full year regardless if services were provided. I would like to have a clear response indicating that my account can be cancelled without any further charges brought forth and the official effective date of cancellation. Please clearly indicate the last charge and end date so I can ensure that everything is properly resolved before determining approval of the complaint.

A salesperson came knocking on our door 5/27/2022 he was telling us how good the pest control service was and that our neighbor had termites. He continued to speak about my husbands truck saying that his grandfather had one just like that. He offered us pest control stating that our service would cost ***** and that we would be charged this every 3 months. He NEVER stated that this was a yearly contract and that cancellation fees apply. I noticed that in my bank account the amount changed to ***** and that it was being taken out of my account every month. It was never disclosed that it would be a monthly payment. He shows me an Ipad and he says he would need a card and that to sign here so that I could be charged the *****. Again, I emphasize on that it was never disclosed that this was a one year contract. Once I figured out that this was happening I called the customer service number I spoke with ****** and I let her know I would like to cancel service she stated that I would have to pay a total of ****** for cancellation and she transferred me to ************** told him the situation and he told me that I would have to pay ****** to cancel my contract. This company is deceiving of giving correct info. He told me that if my husband was in the room with me because the contract was under his name. I told him the sales rep knew that my husbands name was on the contract but I was the one that signed and the payment is coming out of my account. He told me that the only person that can call to cancel was my husband. I told ****** that I don't understand why the sales person does not say the truth about what is really going to be done for service and how much its going to really cost. Not to mention when the person comes to do service they don't ********** my whole yard we look at our cameras. So what am I truly paying for? We have noticed a lot of ants in our home after they started to come to spray our yard. I would not recommend getting any service by them!Business Response

A salesman named *************************** solicited my door selling the services. My daughter spoke with him and advised him I am retired and receive a small social security pension and that I am not working. I cannot afford any extra bills at this time. He was EXTREMELY persuasive to the point in which he kept reducing the price time and time again. My daughter kept advising him I cannot afford it. Honestly, I felt harassed by ***************************. The non stop sales pitch he kept on and on. I told my daughter to tell him ok, I would try it, but if I could not afford it I would need to cancel. ******* said NO PROBLEM, I GOT YOU. My daughter insisted he put it in writing and he stated DO YOU NOT TRUST ME? She said, not that we do not trust you, but this is for our protection. He proceeded to say NO WORRIES, YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOU LET ME KNOW OR CALL THE COMPANY. MY daughter asked, are you sure? Do I have your word? Can we trust you? He stated YES, I AM NOT OUT TO S**** YOU OVER. His exact words, verbatim. He proceeded to say, I HOPE YOU CAN STAY THE ***** BUT, IF NOT AT LEAST 6 MONTHS, WITHOUT ANY CANCELLATION PENALTY FEES. My daughter asked him what if she cannot afford not even 6 months? He replied, WELL AT LEAST 3 SERVICES. To my daughter and me, as we understood it, meant 3 months. *************************** NEVER explained what 3 services meant, covered or until what date I would be able to cancel. He gave my daughter his word, he sugar coated everything and basically said one thing and put something else in writing. My daughter asked him, does my mother need to sigh? Proceeded to say to me mom sign here. ******* clearly said, NO, YOU CAN SIGN. Meaning my daughter. So my daughter signed. My daughter called ****, spoke to several supervisors/**** and explained the situation, that I could not continue due to difficult economic times.
