A salesman knocked on my door midday during the week offering a $50 per month pest control service (my current pest control is $70/month). I confirmed I would make the switch to hawx and within 10 minutes another hawx employee showed up to spray my yard, which I thought was oddly quick. Afterwards I found out hawx doesnt come back out to spray for another 3 months and I was clearly lied to by the door to door salesman after our in depth conversation about my current $70/month pest control services. I called to cancel my services with hawx when they advised because someone already sprayed my yard, I would have to pay an additional $215 bill, this is on top of the $60 I already paid. Reminder the door to door salesman told me $50, but they charged my card $60. After calling hawx directly to dispute this large charge I was rudely scolded and told I have to pay the total $275 for a 5 minute pest spray that didnt include spraying for mosquitos (which the door to door salesman assured me it did). Upon advising hawx directly on the phone that I felt I was lied to, misrepresented and scammed and that I was going to report this to the BBB, they told me go ahead and hung up on me, I wish I was lying. As a side note, the door to door salesman opened my front door and uninvitedly walked into my house after I left him out front to grab my wallet. My dog jumped across the room as a stranger just entered our home unwelcome, breaking a glass across the floor and waking my new born from her nap. Knowing first hand how other pest control companies operate, this is the most unprofessional company Ive witnessed and they should be shut down entirely. I was shocked to ****** their reviews and find hundreds of the exact same scenario, but somehow these criminals are still operating and charging interest to our outstanding invoices. Your initial service was quoted at $50 with monthly billing at $60. A discount was provided on your initial treatment based on the minimum 12 month period. This amount was to be returned at the time of cancellation prior to services being fulfilled. The initial discount will be removed with continued service. We will provide a discounted monthly rate as well. If you wish to receive monthly pest treatments, warranty services are available to you at anytime in between your regularly scheduled visits. We ask that you contact us via text, email, or phone to schedule this as it is not an automatic scheduled service. Your June invoice has been removed. I am rejecting this response because the message provided by Hawx was very conflicting and confusing. So, I decided to call the company directly to discover there is still an owed cancellation penalty on my account of $153. I already paid the $60 for the one and only service and I refuse to pay the cancellation fee due to the misrepresentation by the Hawx salesman. After being solicited at my front door in the middle of the day, the salesman advised I was purchasing a monthly pest spray service that included mosquitos. My only mistake was made when I trusted this company and their representatives. I have been advised by Hawx numerous times it was my responsibility to read the fine print to find the scam and lies, but I chose to trust the company on what they advised I was purchasing. I also only had 72 hours to find the scam, and because I didn't find the scam within 72 hours, I am now being held hostage to their services or I have to pay a large cancellation penalty to end my services with this company. From a business model standpoint, there is no reason for a pest control company to have a cancellation penalty, especially a company that is dropping foot salesman into neighborhoods to go door to door selling lies. This is all part of the scam, and I will not sit by idle.

I have been a client of Hawx Pest control for over 2 years and was always satisfied with the service received. The technicians and customer service representatives were always kind and professional. That is until today. I called customer service because I had some questions about billing. I called two weeks ago to request a service because I noticed ant hills around the perimeter of my house. I received an email a few days later stating that my monthly bill was not paid. I found this odd because my contract said I was charged quarterly. Nonetheless, I went online and made the payment on 8/14, so my account would be current. And then, I went through my payment history to find out how I could have fallen behind. Good thing I did because they have been overcharging me. 2/9/2022 - $119 (the quarterly charge for Feb, Mar, and Apr)4/21/2022 - $119 (the quarterly charge for Apr, **** and Jun)5/16/2022 - $119 (quarterly charge for **** Jun, and Jul)6/12/2022 Notified that billing would change to monthly, but it doesnt include an effective date of the change. 6/30/2022 - $54.99 8/14/2022 - $54.99 Notice anything weird? I did!! The customer service rep noticed something too and said that I shouldnt have been charged in April. Great, but what about the May charge? Hawx charged me for 3 months in May 2022service. I advised the rep of this, and he kept telling me that the fees increased and I had to accept that. I understand the fees were increased but in May I was charged for a quarter and then charged one month later. I would like to receive a refund for all a portion of the May fees charged that were not used in addition to the April charge.Business Response

A salesman had made contact with me at my home for outdoor pest control. I had already had a provider for this service. However, the deal the salesman had quoted me was less expensive than my current provider. I had very clearly stated that I was only interested in a ONE time trial. As he had asked me to sign a contract, I had asked him 3 times if this was for only ONE time, to which he responded "yes". Quoted me a $50 fee for a one time application. The service had sent someone the following month. I had then called and told this company I no longer wanted service, and was led to believe that I only signed up for ONE treatment. I also stated that I did not want any further charges. I was then charged $249 and $200 for the second treatment, that I was told would be $79. I have no problem paying for the 2 treatments that had been done. Treatment 1- $50 and treatment 2- $79.I was then told the $449 was cancellation fee for the entire year. I had disputed this with my credit card company, the funds had been returned, until they presented my signature on their contract. Again, I had asked 3 times if I was signing for a one time treatment and told it was for $50 charge for a one time treatment. A sales person came to my door and lied to me about how much services would be. I had him repeat it three times to me. The sales person said it would be ***** every 3 months along with the technician coming out every 3 months. I told him I didn't want to be billed for services until after they were done. He told me I wouldn't be until services were done. He also said that of the clme out again before if I still had ants it would be warranty service and it would be free. I still had ants, they **** actually worse and coming in the house. I called for warranty service. They billed me again when not supposed to because it's a warranty service and before 3 months. I caller and the girl on the phone told me it's every month. That is NOT what I agreed to!!! This is fraud! I googled this company and they have so many complaints against them! They also frauded my neighbors. When my technician came out ***** he said this happens all the time and he has to clean up their mess! This is fraud! I also read they have been withdrawing from people's bank accounts. I tried to cancel several times and they just leave me on hold. No one will pick up the phone. This is straight up fraud. This is the worst company Ive ever used. A sales person uses predatory tactics to get you to sign a contract that they never explain to you. Ive been billed for services never completed and they wont do anything about it. Every time *** asked for a manager there is never one that can help me. They say theyll tell them to call me and I never get a call. Ive been billed for three services when only one was completed. Repeated called customer service to complain about ******************** not working and tried to cancel services for over 30 days and everytime i tried to cancel services the customer service reps insisted on trying to earn my business and instead of having manager call me back as promised multiple times they just had people come respray home and cause an investation of ants i called to cancel and was told i would have to pay $400 since i was on contract even though i was advised i wasnt signing a contract at time of service agreement of being month to month and that i was able to cancel at any time so when i explained to ******* in customer support department i explained i wanted to talk to a manger to cancel my account she said she would have a manger reach out in 24-72hrs and then took it upon herself to bill me for $400 to cancel my account before i was able to speak to a manager about cancelling services which is wrong and unethicalBusiness Response

Representative came by the house offering free service to the neighborhood, stating I would have to sign for the treatment and that they would come by every month after, but could cancel if I chose I didn't want it. I tried to call and cancel and they told me it was a 12 month contract if I cancelled I would be charges $250 for the "free" treatment offered. I was not told this in the initial meeting. Not only that, but the treatment didn't even work. I had mosquitos every day since. They also text me saying they were coming to do another treatment, I called and cancelled it but they never actually cancelled it. I am not normally someone that bad mouths businesses - I know how hard it is to work in the service industry, but the experience Ive had with Hawx Pest Control has been absolutely awful. In June a nice salesman came to our door and offered their pest control services at a discounted price because a bunch of our neighbors use them and it will be easy to add us to the route. I know, I know, standard sales practices. He offered a one-time mosquito spray to include in our package. He would call me the next week and check in about whether or not I wanted to keep the service. Unsurprisingly, I never heard from him. The company claims to have sprayed our home each month - however, our mosquitos are worse than ever and between myself, who works from home, my nannies, and my obnoxiously loud golden retriever who freaks whenever a car comes anywhere near our house - none of us have seen a truck or pest control representative spraying the yard/house. They give no indication of their visit other than technician notes in an online portal. We recently have noticed an ant problem inside the home and I was informed that they would be by today to spray inside. When I asked for a timeframe they said, between 9 and 5. Very helpful. Again, unsurprisingly, no one has come to spray. Only now did I have the wherewithal to look up Hawx reviews online. Reprehensible. They ******* hundreds of customers with their misleading sales promises and ineffective pest control. Icing on the cake? $500 to cancel a contract that they said wasnt a contract and could be opted out of at any time. I should have done my homework for sure - but with two babies screaming while trying to listen to a sales pitch - Im sure Im not alone in being distracted and too trusting. I simply wanted a safe environment for my family - too much to ask?I canceled the account in order to get out from under them. The cancellation fee is absolutely ridiculous. Hawx Pest Control mislead their services. They were going door to door in our neighborhood at 8PM selling a one time pest control treatment for $50. They insisted we finalize the transaction that evening (before the service was complete), my son electronically signed their tablet to ensure they return the following day, however I refused to pay prior to treatment. After my son signed, they agreed to come back the next day. I gave my daughter in law $50 for the service. Upon completing the service my DIL went to pay in cash, however they refused to take cash and stated she had to pay via debit / credit card. She did so, and thought we were settled up. The following month she noticed another $50 was debited from her bank account. After contacting them, they stated my son signed a 12 month contract for $50 per month. When he said that was not the agreement, they stated he could cancel the contract for $250. They immediately charged my DIL's account a $250 cancellation fee. She never signed a contract with HAWK Pest control and did not give them authority to withdraw future funds from her account. The bank temporarily returned her monies, however HAWK has disputed it stating there was a signed contract, although it is not signed by her and has recharged her accountBusiness Response

A salesperson came to my door in early July promoting a special for this company. According to his explanation, the special was for an inspection and bug treatment for $49.99 and if I wanted to, I could sign up to have quarterly treatments at the same price. I specifically asked him if the annual cost was $200 and he confirmed it was. He also said when I asked that I could cancel "any time" except for that first service. He charged my card and asked me to sign on his ipad. I recieved a visit/ treatment and thought all was well. However, I recently received notification that I was being billed an additional $49.99 this month, and when I went online, I saw that this looked like a monthly thing vs what I was told. When I called to cancel the service, I was told that I had signed a contract that bound me to $49.99 a month and if I canceled at any point prior I would be charged an additional $200. This is in direct contradiction to what I was explicitly told by the salesperson. The fact that there are so many complaints lodged here shows this is not an isolated incident but that this company has a pattern of deceptive business practices. Thank you for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear of this matter. After signing up on 7/6/22 you received and viewed your agreement via email according to our records. This reflects your quarterly service schedule as well as your monthly recurring rate. You were provided a $200 discount based on the minimum 12 month agreement. You agreed to return this amount prior to fulfilling services. Your August monthly recurring charge has been reversed back to the card on file. Please allow 5-7 business days to receive this. At this time the account is closed and the initial discount will remain.
