One of their salespeople, *********************** approached me at my house at around 8:30 pm. I was offered a service to have my home sprayed for pest control. I do not speak fluent English, and this person tricked me into signing a contract for about $69 per month. I was surprised when the company charged my account again, and I called them to try to cancel this service and get my money back from this month's charge. Once I was speaking on the phone, I was treated very poorly due to the language barrier. A friend assisted me with canceling this service over the phone at around 4:45 pm today, 7/23/2024. I was then informed about this scam. I need to pay another $200 to cancel, and they won't refund my money. I do not understand why they can charge me for a yearly service when I only agreed to a one-time service. Their employee tricked me, and the same person lied, telling me that my neighbors had also signed up for the service, but to my surprise, they didn't.I want your assistance in canceling this service, receiving my refund, and never again hearing from this company. It has been viewed, and had also signed the welcome letter. In the agreement and the welcome letter it notifies of the 12 month agreement and the monthly service charge. We service quarterly and offer warranty services any time in between the services if a pest issue arises. Your account is still active. There is a company called Hawx, which promises better prices and better service than Terminix for pest control and bugs. I signed up with them 6/7/24 I gave it a try because I pointed at a nest to the sales person and said, you could treat that? Even with it being that high?Yeah, we have extension poles we use that can definitely handle that, how about TuesdayThey claim they will treat wasp and stinging bug nests. Tuesday came and a teenager was at my door like how do you expect me to reach that?I informed him his sales team said they were ?? equipped to do so. I called to cancel the service after since they couldn't actually do what their sales people promised. I was directed to a manager who asked me to give them another attempt. 2 more appointments and escalation with a Manager designating specific staff, and every single one disagreed with the sales guy and their own manager stating they were not equipped to treat a nest higher then arms length of the first floor. I called them and told them I needed to cancel the services because they were not able to complete the work as promised and were in breach of their contract. I verbally rescinded credit card authorization. They wanted to put me on hold to speak with a manager and while on hold they charged my credit card $200. This was after they charged $49 initial enrollment and $39 for the 2nd month. They were in breach of contract for both months. I made the mistake of giving them the opportunity to fix the issue when they claimed that they did have the personnel and equipment to reach the nests I pointed out to the sales technician. When the technicians that the manager sent out also couldnt do the work promised I determined their business practices are dishonest and when you point out the breach of contract they put me on hold for a manager and charged an early termination fee before I could speak with another manager.Business Response

In the agreement it explains the monthly recurring fee and the early termination fee. Your initial service was performed on July 20th, 2023. You had paid the initial charge on July 19th, then the monthly fee was not paid again. After the account had been severally overdue we had closed the account and added the early termination fee. Selling tactics like ignoring NO SOLICITATION signs in many homes in our neighborhood wil not be tolerated. Today a representative is making many homeowners angry for not only ignorning the sign at the front of the neighborhood, but saying they don't care about No Soliciting signs is not a proper way to do business.Business Response

I signed up for services with Hawx on June 14, 2024. ************************* ****************** me up) He told me they would come out monthly for $49.00 and initial setup was $135.00 for first treatment which he scheduled within a few days ***** came out on 18 of June knocked down cobwebs,a couple of wasp nests and sprayed around house and eves for spiders ,ants ,bugs etc. In the last month I have gotten more spider webs and bugs etc .(so I had put down sticky pest traps in the garage ) then saturday July 13th - I noticed there was a charge for $49.00 on my CC from Hawx and they had NOT been out to provide services. So I called them this morning to see when they had come out last- I was told the June 18 I said then WHY was my credit card charged $49.00 on saturday if you all hadn't come out to perform ANY services?? I was told then that MY services were for every 3 mos. according to the year contract I had signed !! I said that was NOT what I was told I was signing up for -I was told they were coming out every month for $49.00 a month and that if I wanted additional services such as rodent or gopher control that it would be extra . So I told the guy I wanted my services cancelled that I did not like being LIED to and he then told me that he was going to charge me $199.00 cancellation fee !!!! I told him h*** no!! That is not how you should run a business lying and cheating to get what you want ! I would NOT recommend doing business with these people ever !!! In the agreement it explains the monthly fee and by initialing the agreement you are allowing the monthly fee to be automatically withdrawn. We charge monthly instead of a larger quarterly payment. Services are quarterly and any time in between services we offer warranty services if a pest issue arises. We also have a signed welcome letter going over this information. Due to not wanting to fulfill the agreement we had to add the early termination fee, as stated in the agreement. All charges are valid. If you would like to reinstate your services an account manager will work with you so you can fulfill the agreement. This company is always late for regular quarterly pest control and trying to get away with their obligation. I think it is close to the level being a fraud/scam, instead of a regular business. They won't come until you bug them into doing so. The only thing you constantly receive from this company is sales message, instead of service.Business Response

I'd like to share my annoyance experience with Hawx Pest Control. I had a one-year service agreement with Hawx from June 21, 2023. I sent Hawx an email on May 21st, 2024 stating that I don't want to renew the service agreeent. At the time my account balance was zero. The next day one account manager called me and I clearly told him that I don't want any service nor any charge. He insisted to schedule a warranty service for me on May 30th. I told him that I would not be home and I would not pay anything if he sent someone over. Apparently someone did come to provide a warranty service. Not long after, I was texted and called by **** telling me that I have a $55 balance. I answered the call and explained why I should not be charged, but I was hanged off or the call was cut off. Then I started to receive calls from Hawx every day, even multiple calls a day. On July 3rd, I talked with an account manager and explained all these again to her, she agreed to close my account, which should be closed on May 21st; and she hung up the phone on me. Then I received the above message. And I was still called by Hawx every day, multiple times a day. I answered one again yesterday, and I was cut off again when I explained the situation to him. Now I'm still called every day, multiple times a day.The reason that I don't want to have business with this company is not only that their practice is not effective, but what is worse is their customer service - it's so hard to have effective conversation with them. It's so hard, if it's ever possible, to get someone to answer the phone when I tried to reach someone to re-schedule service time. And now when they want to chase me for payment, they call me all the time. And when I answer the call, they cut me off - my understanding is that, they only want to get me to pay; they don't want to listen to me at all. What kind of business is that!Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Hawx made no effective offer to resolve the complaint --except offering me a reduced price of $44 /mo if I agreed to a 3 year contract. An offer on it's face is ridiculous why would I agree to more lack of service. I am requesting 3 months refund $54/mo or $162 total as they have not serviced my house since January this seems more than reasonable

Hawx Pest control was hired to provide pest control services. We are charged for this service on a monthly basis. Services were not performed for at least 2months per Hawx customer service representative on July 9 2024, verified with bank that I was charged for this service. I had a pest Control company I was happy with and someone came to my house and I have multiple processing issues due to lime and mold in my brain and they convinced me to get rid of my current test control with which I was happy The salesman spent an hour and a half going over specifics at my house, then messed up the payments so intruded on my time again.Then on the day of the service, the technician showed up to hours late and started treating the wrong home so I had to go out and talk to him He had no wasted my time with an hour and a half half of explaining what I needed One of the primary things I needed was mouse traps or bait by a new tenants window and he failed to do that He gave me his personal text and said if there were any problem to contact him I didnt want to get him in trouble and followed his directions and contacted him multiple times by text with no response ************ came to my house, pestering me until I agreed to a service that ended up being no better than the one I had They didnt fulfill their end of the contract. I spent over an hour discussing with them and theyre still trying to charge me a couple hundred dollars and a monthly fee.I already had to pay a few to switch over to them, so this is ridiculous and I think poor business practicesBusiness Response
