I had solar installed through Blue Raven in January of 2023. During the installation they damaged my concrete roof tiles. I have contacted them numerous times over the past seven months in an attempt to get the matter corrected but have not gotten a satisfactory response. They claim to have hired a subcontractor to fix the issues and have been out to inspect the roof, then claimed the wrong materials were ordered, and stop responding to requests for follow up. I just want the roof damage they caused to be fixed. I am happy to provide phone/text records of all of the contacts, if needed.Business Response

We are sorry to hear about the damage to the customer's roof tiles. For the past several months our technicians and Work Orders Team have been working to find tiles that closely match the ones that need to be replaced. Unfortunately, this has been a process of trial and error since the tiles on the roof have proved difficult to match. In recent weeks, the Work Orders Team has been reviewing repair options with a new roofing company that specializes in tiling, however, the needed tiles have been out of stock. We plan to review and move forward with this roofing company as soon as the materials become available. We will reach out to the customer with any significant updates we are given regarding the tile so we can get the repairs scheduled with our technicians as soon as possible.

On 8/24/23, a sales person for Blue Raven Solar knocked on my door. I was working and on the phone at the time and didn't answer. My sister later went outside to get something from the car, the sales person saw her and approached her. He told her: (1) that he was with the power company, (2) that he needed to talk to the homeowner about a "problem" in the neighborhood, (3) that he couldn't say anything more to her since she wasn't the homeowner, and (4) that there "had been issues" that needed to be discussed. Thinking this was an urgent situation from the power company, my sister came in to get me. I had to get off of a call with my boss to go talk to this guy, only to find out that he was trying to sell solar panels and did not represent *********** in any way. What he told me: (1) he again reiterated that there had been "issues" in the neighborhood but wouldn't be specific, (2) that *********** was requiring that all customers go solar by ****, (3) that "no money will come out of your bank account", (4) that *********** would be raising their rates by 10% next year.I called *********** who confirmed that everything this guy said to both myself and my sister was false. He was not affiliated with them, they will likely raise their rates but don't know how much or when and they are absolutely not requiring solar. Plus, he was trying to make me think that there was no cost to me when this would obviously require a loan. The ************** Ch. 75 Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act prohibits companies from, among other things: Misrepresentations about products or services and false advertising. These people show up at my door again with this kind of misrepresentation and I'll file a legal complaint.Business Response

I had solar panels put in several years ago. I have asked blue raven to come out and look at them and Duke to come out and look at them and neither company will and my light bill is $300 right now which is really high when you have solar panels something isn't right and no one will help me find the problem. Everyone I speak to State my light bill should not be that high with having solar panels we keep our temperature on 77 during the day and 74 in the evening which is not bad.Business Response

We are sorry to hear about the customer's dissatisfaction with their ********************** system. The most recent communication we had from the customer was on 1/20/2023, where they only let us know what their bills were the past few months. In response, we informed them about how their system's production aligned with our estimations. However, no request was made for us to conduct an on-site inspection of the system. Based on the customer's online monitoring portal, it has been verified that all their panels are functioning normally.
When the solar system was designed on 7/3/2019, a year's worth of usage was not provided to us. Consequently, the solar system's design relied on an estimation of usage. Given the likelihood of the current usage differing from the initial estimate, it's possible that this has led to higher utility bills. To effectively reduce the customer's bill, the addition of more ********************** panels may be necessary. We are prepared to assist the customer in incorporating more panels to lower their current expenses. To review and initiate the process of adding panels, utility bills can be sent to us at ***********************************Initial Complaint

Solar is great but use a different company. The sales team will lie and continue to lie just to get referrals from you. They talk about this great program then wont pay you what he said they would.Business Response

We are sorry to hear about the negative experience the customer had with our referral program. We have provided feedback to sales management to make sure our representatives are correctly presenting our referral program. We apologize for how it may have been portrayed but believe we have a great program in place due to having a lot of confidence in our product. We try to make our referral plan very transparent and have included it on our website. Our referral plan includes a payout of $500 on the first, $1000 for the second, and $1,500 on the third and any other referrals after that. We take a lot of pride in our product and wanting customers to feel confident in sharing about it. I entered into an agreement with him to install panels for solar and it’s been to four months and blue raven solar field twice to do the proper installation, and I still haven’t received any connection to my system… All I get is a run around… I did this in May so I would be able to use the entire summer to collect for my electric bill and it’s still not connected… all they’re going to do is pay for my first payment on the system, I will receive nothing for the four months from the sun this summer. And they still can’t tell me when I will be connected.Business Response

We apologize for the delays this customer has experienced during the interconnection process. Our net metering team has approved additional compensation for the customer to reimburse them for their financing payments. At this point, the new meter has been ordered and we are currently waiting for it to be installed. Based on the timelines from the utility company, we expect to have an update from them on the meter status by the end of next week.

We are sorry to hear about this customer's experience. Our teams faced several delays throughout the process and we apologize for not having better communication. Moving forward, we will have our teams contact the homeowner for any updates on the project. As far as the reimbursements for the financing payments, our accounting team had another check reissued on July 28th and we expect this to arrive in the mail soon. We are also having 2 additional reimbursements processed to account for the upcoming bills and will continue to make these reimbursements until we receive permission to operate from the utility company. At this point, we are waiting for the utility company to set the new meter. Once this has been completed, our team will reach out to assist with energization.

Overly aggressive salesperson, ignores No Soliciting signs (4 times). Would not provide any id when requested, as required by law. Now being pursued by Albany Police for Criminal Trespass.
Gives salespeople a bad name!!Business Response

We are sorry to hear about this interaction with our appointment setter. All sales representatives are trained and expected to be respectful in all their encounters, especially with homeowners. From the homeowner's city municipal code, it does not require our representative to present identification if its requested. This has been escalated to upper management to handle this issue accordingly. Thank you.Customer Answer

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
Per the Police Dept, door-to-door salespeople are required to provide id and/or a copy of their city issued license, if requested. This guy chose to walk away, and fled the area instead. Then had the stupidity to show up again another day, and ignored the sign at our door again. (see below)He also broke the law in not respecting a clearly posted "No Soliciting" sign, which in this case was immediately next to the doorbell, plainly visible! It is there for a reason: my wife sleeps days, as she works nights as an ICU nurse in a major trauma center. This guy chose to ignore the sign, and woke her up.
Of note, another neighbor had a very similar experience. Based on the exhibited behavior of the (supposed) salesman, the Police are treating this guy as a potential burglar, and are watching out for him, at which time he will be arrested, per the officer. We did manage to get a photo of the salesman, by the way.
Finally, he misrepresents himself. Says he is doing a survey, when he is actually trying to sell things. This guy really gives salespeople (and the company) a bad image! Another Utah company out committing fraud???
Sincerely,

We appreciate this being brought to our attention. We train to follow the City's municipal code which does not require showing ID upon request. However, as a company we want to abide within all expectations from law enforcement and will look into this issue further to provide necessary training. We apologize for the negative experience for the homeowner and have provided feedback to upper management regarding the experience. To further the internal investigation we have reached out to the homeowner to get further information regarding the sales representative. Thank you.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
Per Police Dept., they are wrong! City requires solicitors to provide ID when requested. Violation can result in a Criminal Trespass case, as in this instance. Note- We have since found other neighbors who also had issues with this guy. Police have requested we notify them if he is seen anywhere in the area again. Will be arrested, as long as we can identify him...we will. Too bad this company ignores the law...

On July 2017 2023, a representative from Blue Raven Solar knocked on our door and informed us that due to discontinuation of coal mining and an agreement between the government and ********** that we have a choice to either install solar panels on our roof or have our current energy bill increased by 15% each month. I then subsequently called Energy United who informed us that this information is not true and is indeed a fear mongering tactic employed by a disreputable solar panel company. I am filing a complaint due to the dishonest manner in which this business seeks customers. I am sure that they are able to mislead many people, ultimately costing them thousands of dollars.Business Response

on 5/17/23 Blue Raven Reps came to my home and they told me as is their advertisement to provide an estimate for solar options for free. they informed me i need to provide permission to have them provide me an estimate, (as i didnt have my glasses, they just told me it was for this permission and i didnt need to get my glasses) which they did provide me the numbers once i signed. once they provided me the estimate, i informed them that would take me some time to get the funds ready. now, they are trying to charge me cancellation fees. they misinformed me of the document likewise with their advertisement. at this point i still have not been able to secure the funds and cannot move forward. this contract needs to be null and void as it was signed under a misintended manner.Business Response
Date: 07/21/2023
This is the first time we are hearing about these contractual concerns of the Home Improvement Contract from the customer. Furthermore, after the contract is signed, we conduct an onboarding call that confirms with the customer their signature on the contract, outlines the estimated timelines of the project, and references our cancellation policy to ensure they are aware of what to expect from Blue Raven Solar moving forward. Notably, a homeowner cannot move forward with the solar process until an onboarding call has been completed and the homeowner has verbally confirmed that they understand the information provided on the call and in the contract. During the earlier portions of the project, we were informed that they would be working on getting the money to go with the cash option, but after working on the project for a month we stopped hearing back entirely. By this point, permits were completed and we were ready to proceed with the installation. Over the span of another month, several different teams attempted to contact the customer to no avail, until we informed them that we were sending the project to collections to receive reimbursement for the work we completed. Our customer advocacy team has offered to put the project on hold until the customer is ready to proceed but has not received a clear answer regarding this in any of these correspondences. If the customer wants to finalize the cancellation, we will have our advocacy team determine what costs we can absorb in order to reduce the amount owed by the homeowner.

I started working with Blue Raven Solar (BRS) on 10/17/2022 to get some new solar panels installed on my house. Though out the process. I was told that payments on the panels would not start until the panels were turned on, and they would take care of everything with utilities, which is Xcel Energy I this case. After standard design and documents were taken care of, the panels were put on my roof on 12/8/2022.
Im writing this on 7/5/2023 and the panels have yet to be turned on and I'll shortly have made $750 dollars in loan payments. The solar loan itself is backed by a 3rd party and I'm under contract to pay the loan with them regardless of the state of the panels.
Around February they (BRS) would compensate me for money spent on the panel. Then followed 3 months of nothing while BRS solar tried to figure out internally who to blame and which internal department owed the money. All while I still had making payments.
Around May they said instead of compensation they would reimburse any money paid toward the loan and take over the loan, but so far the only thing thats actually happened is I've had to make 2 more loan payments.
BRS's claims of me not owing until the panels have been laughably false, and any and all feedback or communication I've gotten form BRS has only come because frequent calls on my part, most of which resulted 15 mins of a confused tech trying to look up my account, saying they will call me back with more information, and never doing so.
Ultimately I just want my solar panels turned on. Even though Xcel Energy are the ones preventing me from turning the panels on, BRS has done nothing to meet the promises made at sale time nor any of the solutions put forward. As of now I've just spend hundreds of dollars for panels to sit on my roof and degrade in the sun and produce zero energy. Not. A. Single. Watt.Business Response

We are sorry to hear about this experience and we apologize for the frustration. Prior to the complaint, the customer was made aware that we are no longer actively pursuing PTO. In May we entered into an agreement with the customer that included us buying back the loan from the financier and canceling the home improvement contract since Xcel is not able to provide the needed infrastructure to support the system. For this agreement, we will be reimbursing the customer for all financing payments made, and the panels will remain on their roof at no cost unless Xcel is able to provide PTO. Our legal and accounting departments have been working with the financier to resolve this as quickly as possible, but there have been delays due to the unique circumstances. These teams will continue to work towards having the loan taken over by Blue Raven Solar and will reach out regarding any updates.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:There is still no action. I was told on 5/25 that the payments would be sent out and I'd get proof of loan payoff by 5/26 and get reimbursed within 10 business days. I have all record. It's 7/11 and I've gotten nothing.
This is also the first Im hearing that Blue Raven is no longer pursuing PTO. The language in the contract (unsigned version attached) makes me believe they would still be in contact with Xcel about PTO and would contact me about next steps once they have PTO or my application is moved up.
Either way, my entire experience with Blue Raven past the install date is them making promises and then failing to meet the deadlines they themselves set. What BRS say they will do to fix the issue means nothing unless they actually do it.
Sincerely,
***** *********Business Response
Date: 07/13/2023
The proof of loan payoff is a document that comes from the financier and is not a document we are able to produce without their involvement. For this process, we have to go through SunPower and SunPower has to go through Tech CU for the buyback, which has proved to be a long process that is unfortunately not within our control. The team has given the customer estimated timelines based on what has been communicated to us, but they have no guarantees on these estimates since these are very unique circumstances. Regarding PTO, this project was waitlisted by Xcel, who will provide us with updates as they come. Our net metering team may continue periodic follow-ups but this will not be a project that exists in our standard workflow since the timeline for an infrastructure upgrade is unknown.

I am rejecting this response because:
The reasons why you’ve failed to meet your own deadlines really don’t matter. I’m an adult, if it happened once I’d call it rotten luck for all parties involved and move on. The third or forth time and it’s just bad planing and false promises given to appease. If an employee showed up to work late consistently, even if what happened were events truly out of their control, you would say that they should have planned better.
The simple fact of the matter is that BRS has consistently failed to meet contractual obligations.
Sincerely,

We understand the frustration but would like to reiterate that this process is not within our control and we have provided a timeline based on the information we were given. Our teams have reimbursed the customer for the financing payments they have already made and will continue to make these reimbursements until the loan is taken over.
Thank you.
