I had solar installed in Feb 2020 and I just found out that a micro inverter has never reported. I reached out to Enphase and they sent me a replacement part and recommended I contact Blue Raven to get it installed. I did and Blue Raven told me on Apr 14, 2023 that it was past my 2 year warranty and I had to pay a $150 fee. I asked them why, considering this obviously wasn't installed correctly and I have heard absolutely nothing back. After several attempts.Business Response

We are sorry to hear about this experience. This was escalated to our work orders management team who has waived the service fee so that the new microinverter can be installed at no cost. A technician has been scheduled for the morning of July 11th to have this resolved.

A week ago a door to door solicitor came to our house and talked to us about clean energy and that we would qualify for FREE solar panels. I asked several times how is it free. He said DTE would pay for them. After much discussion, he fumbled and said "AFTER" the panels are paid off. So, who is going to pay them off? We were going to have a sales rep come for an appointment to discuss it further. AFTER researching online and even their own website basically says YOU have to finance it. So, that guy LIED! I called the day of the free consultation and CANCELLED the appointment. NOW they keep calling me. I want them to STOP calling! I don't want your crappy panels! I figured it out, it would take 20 years to PAYOFF the panels BEFORE I would start to so called "save money". Really DTE ONLY offers a credit on my bill and NOT sending me a check ( like the guy told me)according to DTE.Business Response

We are sorry to hear about this interaction with our appointment setter. This has been passed on to their management so that they can address this directly with the employee and make sure that they have an accurate understanding of financing and net metering. The homeowner's information has been removed from our system and they can expect no further contact.

I received a quote from blue raven after a short 30 minute conversation they gave me the estimate and I decided to go with a different company. Now they are trying to charge me **** dollars because according to them I told them after the deadline. Which I had no idea about and I had no idea I signed any sort of contract. This kind of business practice is unethical and should be stopped.Business Response

During the beginning of the project in February, the homeowner signed a the home improvement contract where the cancellation policy was clearly outlined. Our support team also verbally communicated this policy during the onboarding call the same day they signed the agreement. The project proceeded normally, but was canceled after we stopped hearing from the homeowner regarding the financing documents. Our teams spent over a month try to reach the homeowner, who ultimately said that they were still wanting to go solar with **. Less than two weeks after this, we stopped hearing from the homeowner again until they responded to our customer advocacy team on June 20th, saying that they wanted to cancel. At no point prior was a cancellation request made. The reimbursement fee is for the permitting, design & engineering, application fees, and other work completed when the project was active. Our customer advocacy team is working with the homeowner to see what costs we can absorb in order to reduce the amount owed.

June 2021 Today I called Blue Raven Solar. My solar company about a problem of monitoring my system. I have called them for over a year now. I can no longer monitor my system and neither can they. They said they have a work around part but it will now cost me a $500.00. Just because there systems have changed I don't think that it is my responsibility to pay for another part. That was never in my agreement when I started my solar system. I spoke with a representative there that was new to his job and I could get nowhere. I then spoke to his team lead, ********************* and he would not do anything for me. I then asked to speak to his manager and he refused to let me. So i don't think I should pay any more than a service of ****** to get his problem fixed. Without this part their company cannot check my system remotely either in case something else goes wrong. Just because their system has changed does not mean that I must pay for it. I think this is absolutely wrong of this company to penalize me for this and I want this resolved and cannot get get any help from them.SIncerely,********************* ************Business Response

We are sorry to hear about the frustration with the system monitoring. Cell carriers have sunset the 3G network, meaning it has been phased out and is currently obsolete. The system's communication module relied on this network for system monitoring, which is why it is no longer able to communicate. This change in network support is not something within our control and is an issue for all 3G-dependent devices across the U.S. We have attempted to resolve this issue with the manufacturer of the communication module to see if they would accept warranty claims for this issue. However, with this not being a defect or specific product failure, this is not covered under any warranties from either the manufacturer or Blue Raven Solar. If the customer is able to source the replacement data module for cheaper, we would be happy to install this for them.

We hired this company to install a solar panel system on our home on 4/1/23. This is now 6/17/23 and our system is still no operational. They have sent us emails that everything was inspected and passed and it was time to Energize our system with instructions on how to do so. We are unable to energize our system as the initial installer never installed solar panel breakers in our main power box. Im actually flabbergasted how this passed inspection with Blue Raven, Mecklenburg County, and *********** when there were never solar panel breakers installed in our main power box so the system was never able to be turned on or tested. A representative from Blue Raven came to our home today to check everything out and said, The problem is they never installed solar panel breakers in your main power box. And then they left. Im unsure as to what will happen next but I am extremely dissatisfied with the service received from Blue Raven and it seems like fraud that a system could pass a county and *********** inspection with no solar panel breakers even installed in the ********** box. I am expected to begin payments on this solar panel system when it isnt even operational.Business Response
Date: 06/20/2023
We are sorry to hear about the delay with energization. After discussing this with management, the representative that was initially sent was not familiar with the electrical portion of the system, since unlike most installations, this did not require a MSP breaker. The system is up to code with both the county and the utility company, and this was a simple misunderstanding which we apologize for. A more experienced technician is scheduled to have the system turned on today.

I am rejecting this response because:At this time the situation is not resolved. We had Blue Raven come to our home and we purchased the panels . We was told a few panels needed to go on the barn roof and that it needed replaced. We agreed to have the roof done and panels installed. This project was to take 6 weeks . The roof was removed and a new one put on that leaked. The contractor came out replaced it again . It still leaks as of now we have flexseal on it . But here it the really bad part Blue Raven changed the plans about 10 times on where the panels would be placed .so no panels are needed on the barn roof YES we agreed to the change because we don't know anything about solar panels and feel they was moved in the best interest of us. We have a tree that needed to come down and they also agreed to removed to tree because of all the problems we have had now they went back and said no they aren't removing the tree. The 2 new roof was metal and left in my backyard blowing all over the place ,where my special needs daughter plays. This is completely dangerous so I had to remove all the metal and discard it. Everytime I call I get the same answer. We are working on getting you answers. But I never get them . We are out 10 months from when we signed to have them installed. We have taken off work for people not to show. I don't feel like they are standing up to there end of the deal . Not to mention I lost time off work,I paid a dump bill for roofing, I paid for 2 new tires on my car with roofing nails on the side wall. There answer was I have to work with this contractor or hire a new one. I never hired this one they did . 10 months no working panels ,no saving on electric, and a huge headache . Even today sent me a email with the wrong diagram of where my solar panels are ? I want answers or my roof back to preinstallation order and the panels goneBusiness Response
Date: 06/23/2023
We are sorry to hear about the frustrations with this project. Originally our team believed that panels could be placed on the barn, but after conducting a thorough structure review, it was determined that panels could not be safely installed there. By the time a redesign was complete with the structural review information, the panels we planned on installing were no longer available in the region with our supplier, resulting in another redesign. As far as the tree trimming, this is not something the customer was told would ever be covered. There was a minor miscommunication regarding this previously when we asked about scheduling, but that was quickly sorted out. With regard to the insulation and vehicle damage, we were under the impression that this was being handled or was already handled with the contractor but we will follow up with them to ensure that these concerns are addressed. There was one reroof that was completed on the outbuilding. Our non-standard team is currently investigating why the reroof was included in the proposals after it was determined that panels would not be installed on that building. We apologize for these issues but will be working to resolve them as soon as possible.

Date 8/31/2023 Solar panels installed. Installers did a horrible job, installing them. Left fire hazards in fuse box and attic. Promised tax break. Panels never worked in 2022. Renigged on **** apr. Asking me to sign for financing now, at **** apr. Panels aren't generating the power I was estimated they would.Business Response
Date: 06/20/2023
Initially, our net metering team was informed by the homeowner that PSE had set the new meter when in actuality it was not. This led to premature energization, causing the fuses to trip since a utility inspection had not been completed. After learning of the situation, our net metering team had an electrician replace the faulty fuses, which resolved the issue and passed the utility inspection for PTO. The fuses and breakers functioned as intended, and we have no reason to believe there was a fire hazard. Per request, our work orders team is sending another electrician to verify that the previous corrections were all that were needed. As far as the financing, the original rate was ****%. In January, we received a call from the customer stating that the loan was canceled by GoodLeap and she was sent a new application with a ****% interest rate. Our financing team called GoodLeap, who claimed that the customer called in and canceled their loan months before and informed us that the interest rate previously selected was no longer available. Unfortunately, this is not something within our power, and concerns regarding this should be handled directly with GoodLeap. If the customer has any questions regarding the residential solar tax credit, we recommend they discuss this with a tax professional.

When I found out that I had 4 Solar panels that weren't producing through Enphase (the solar production monitoring firm), I ordered a warrantee repair through Blue Raven Solar. Blue Raven replaced 4 Solar microinverters. My 4 panels continued to be faulty because Blue Raven miss-diagnosed the problem. It took many misleading phone calls to find out finally that it, in fact, wasn't the inverters, but the wiring that connects them to the main roof hub. I was told that the wiring wasn't covered under my warrantee and I would have to pay over $1200 to repair it. I continued to try to call the supervisor of the work order ***** ***********************, to no avail, then sent an unanswered email to her. Below is a link to my email trail with Blue Raven Solar :*****************************************************************************************************************************************Business Response
Date: 06/13/2023
The customer started the *** process by themselves through Enphase and we were not aware until new microinverters arrived and the customer requested a site visit. We made no initial diagnostic visit since we were not made aware of the issue until after the fact. Post-service warranty visits are usually not covered under manufacturer warranties, but since the customer made the warranty claim themselves our work orders team waived the post-warranty service charge and had a visit scheduled to install the microinverters ordered by the customer. During the visit, ************** observed that it was not an issue with the microinverters themselves, but that the customers had animals on the roof chewing through the wires in several places. Per the "Warranty and Guaranty Exclusions" section of the customer's installation agreement, animal damage is not covered under any of the warranties. The supervisor that was working on the customer's situation is currently out on personal leave, but we will have our team reach out to reestablish communication.

I am rejecting this response because: Blue Raven is refusing to honor repairs under warrantee claiming the damage was done by some sort of "critter" which is not covered. There is absolutely no proof that critters were involved. I was shown only photos of frayed wiring. I have done research on Solar system wiring and I believe that an inferior quality of wires and wire tying were used in the installation. Good ************** is very important in this application in order to withstand wear and tear from the elements. I can submit my findings as well as the photos and emails at request.
Sincerely,
***************************Business Response
Date: 06/21/2023
The chewed and frayed wires show clear signs of damage from what are likely squirrels. There is no other reasonable explanation for such significant damage, especially in an area where damage from animals is more common. The materials used have specific weather ratings but are not designed to withstand significant amounts of damage from animals. The quality of wires and materials is some of the best on the market and in the residential solar industry. Critter damage falls under standard home maintenance and is outlined as not being covered under the warranties. Our team has attempted to discuss this with the customer directly and has also invited them to share our findings with a pest control specialist if they disagree with how the damage was caused. We have yet to hear back about this.

Complaint: 20165927
I am rejecting this response because: Blue Raven is refusing to correct the wiring. for my 4 solar panels under my 20 year "no worry" parts and labor warrantee. Claiming and denying critter damage can go back and forth between us to no avail since there is no real proof either way. Blue Raven sent technicians on site to fix the wrong issue and replaced the 4 microinverters instead of the real issue of wiring. It is not my fault that there was miscommunication between Enphase and Blue Raven. I called Enphase to report the lack of production and they put the work order in motion. I am asking Blue Raven, as a paying customer, to make the necessary repairs and honor their deal with a Client. This is surely a small cost for such a large organization.
Sincerely,
***************************Business Response
Date: 06/23/2023
The damage from the animals warrants replacing many of the parts, a quote for which we have provided to the homeowner. We would be happy to accept a warranty claim if the issue was a product defect or failure, but animal damage is not covered under any warranties. There was no miscommunication with Enphase or Blue Raven Solar since the customer made the warranty claim themselves and did not involve us in any diagnosis. Since we were never contacted by the customer for an initial diagnostic visit, we were unaware of the extent and cause of the damage. Not only have we honored all of our warranties, but both we and Enphase have provided the customer with substantial accommodations that do not fall within either of our warranties. We will continue to maintain our position.

We contracted with Blue Raven Solar based on good experiences with the sales team and because the founders were originally from our community. Installation was fine and the array operated sufficiently, but never quite at the performance levels originally represented. In the past three years, we have had the inverter fail and need to be replaced twice. The most recent failure has exposed significant problems in customer service, sales, and service. We have been 5 weeks -- in the height of beautiful spring weather and sunny skies -- unable to generate power and offset our power bill. Our first call requesting service was not addressed and we had to call back after waiting for an alleged email that never arrived. The representative insisted we had missed the email but we immediately received the resent message while on the phone with the rep. ** then took several more followup calls to determine when the replacement inverter would be installed. The service technician(s) were late to scheduled appointments with no call or other communication to advise on their arrival. In the midst of all of this waiting, two door-to-door representatives showed up in plain clothes with no indication that they represented Blue Raven but attempting to sell us on solar panels. One of the individuals had his .45 prominently holstered on his hip. Blue Raven service and support has significantly declined since the new owners took over.Business Response

We are sorry to hear about these experiences with the customer. Our work orders team has approved a refund for the $150.00 service charge which will be processed by our accounting team. The customer has experienced an unusual number of inverter failures, and though they are outside of their production guarantees and labor warranty, these replacements are still covered under the 25-year manufacturer warranty. Our door-to-door appointment setters are expected to conduct themselves professionally and we are sorry that this expectation was not met. Our sales HR team has made sure that this was addressed with area management so that it will not be an issue moving forward.

Ticket ****, Solar Panel Installation was completed 05/30/2023 - Since the moment the installation was completed 3 of my breakers have been tripping. 4 or 5 times on 05/30/2023 and also 3 or 4 times on 05/31/2023. On 06/01/2023 and 06/02/2023 I had everything turned off outside of 1 AC unit to ensure my dog does not overheat). I am unable to leave my dog home on her own as the breakers have tripped when I am gone). Blue Raven had an electrician out and told him to do a temporary fix for the weekend (an industrial extension cord to another outlet). Monday I was informed that Blue Raven was not reliable for the issues that started to occur after installation, that the breaker is overloaded and that I need to get my own electrician out here to fix the issue. I have been in my home for 2+ years using the same outlets for my AC units and have never had an issue with my breakers tripping until the day the installation was completed. In addition, the electrician was unable to deduce the reason for the other breakers tripping. All I had asked was for them to fix it as there is a direct correlation to the installation. Now I am left to invest more money into an electrician in order to figure out what was done and to ensure the safety of my dog. I was willing to work with them on this, but now they have simply disregarded the issues and are leaving me to pay for it to be fix. I no longer wish to support a company that will not do the right thing when issues occur after their team was here messing around with my breaker box.Business Response
Date: 06/08/2023
We are sorry to hear about these electrical issues but we do not believe that this is attributable to the installation. We believe the issue to be an overloaded breaker, which we could not have caused. The ** unit has a label specifying that it should be on its own circuit, which is a guideline not currently being met. If the breaker only started tripping after our installation, it could be indicative of an underlying issue with the main service panel. We also have no record of either ** unit during the site survey or installation, meaning that we could not have touched either of these systems. During a visit to troubleshoot the issue, *************** noted that when both ** units were turned on the amperage hit near 30 amps and that the breaker found tripping is a 15 amp breaker. This means that the breaker is designed to trip if it exceeds 15 amps and that it is tripping independently of other breakers or wiring. Our quality control manager reviewed the situation and came to the same conclusion. We recommend that the customer reach out to an electrician in their area to further address the issue.

I am rejecting this response because:I have had discussions about my AC units with Mr. * when he initially came to me about *33303234333938373231* panels and explained/showed where they are located when installed. Additionally, they were installed long before the day of the installation on 05/30/2023 with no issues of the breakers tripping.
Blue *31303939303235343532* had mentioned in their response that there may be an underlying problem with my breaker box. My house was remodeled in 2016/17 where the electrical work was completely updated. In the 2+ years of being in my home, I have ran my AC units in the same windows and outlets with no issues. *irectly after the installation my breakers started to trip (breakers 1 - 3) even when no one was home (AC units being the only thing running which does not explain the reason for the other two tripping)Mr. * was sent to my home on Friday 06/02/2023 to look at what the issue may be. In order for him to hear what it sounds like when it trips, he had advised me to turn everything I could on (oven,T*s, fans, blow dryer etc.) in order to force a breaker to trip. Prior to me doing that he had stated the breaker was sitting at 18 with the two AC units running. It was not until I turned on my blow dryer (with everything else turned on) that it jumped to 30. I do not typically run my blow dryer and bedroom AC unit at the same time. This was an isolated incident that was requested of me by Blue *31303939303235343532*s electrician.
Mr. * advised me that he spoke with someone in the work order department who advised him to run an extension to another outlet for a temporary fix. I was given the impression that either the original electrician Mr. * or Mr. * would be back next week to address it.
That Monday I was advised that they were not responsible and that I should get my own electrician out here to fix it.Sincerely,
*******************************Business Response
Date: 06/12/2023
Even with the 2 ** units sitting at 18 amps, this still exceeds the 15 amps and does not follow the single circuit guideline on the label of the ** unit. If an electrician can show how this could have been caused by our installation then we will discuss the scope of work and reimbursement, but in its current state, we have no reason to believe that this could have been caused by **.
Thank you.
