I have repeatedly asked representatives from Blue Raven Solar to stop contacting me. Each time, they state they will make a note in their files, and yet, I still receive messages and have had them stop by my house. The last time they contacted me via text was on June 30th, 2022, from the number **************; I responded with the same request to not be contacted and let them know that if they reached out to me again, I would file a complaint with the BBB. Today, I received another message, this time from the number **************, claiming to be from *************************, manager of the company.

We are sorry to hear about the misunderstanding regarding our financing plans. Our sales teams provide customers with several options, one of which is BluePower+, which does include 18 months of free solar. The contract with this homeowner shows that they signed up for the BluePower financing plan, which does not include the 18 months of free solar. Our team's management has reached out to the homeowner to request more details on the letter and messages they say they have, but has not heard back yet.
      Thank you.

Communication was strong up until we signed on the dotted line with Blue Raven. They were scheduled to install our system December 16th, 2022. The crew arrived late and got minimal work done and said they would be back on the 18th to wrap up. I thought that was fair and agreed. No one came to the house on the 18th and there was no communication. This became a continuing theme throughout this nightmare. Through December and January we had a cumulative of at least 5 no call no shows or of the crew randomly arriving to our house without scheduling. The original crew was extremely problematic and unprofessional. Blue Raven acknowledged that and agreed to send a different team to finish. The second team finished the roof work in less than a day. After installation came electrical issues.

Our energy provider came to approve the setup at the end of January and said there was an issue that needed to be corrected. I contacted Blue Raven to give them a heads up on January 25th or 26th. They said they’d get right on it to fix this and agreed to pay toward our loan due to the inconvenience and that the system would certainly be operational by the time our first loan payment was due on March 10th. Wrong again. We had 3 more no call no shows in February. Finally someone came out the first week of March. This electrician commented on the electrical work and said “how did this even get to the approval stage? This setup is all wrong but I’ll fix it.” We heard similar comments from the team that finished the roof install.

I have zero confidence in the workmanship of the project and have received absolutely no proactive communication from Blue Raven. I have sent emails to their customer support team twice in the last 2 weeks with no response and when I called to speak with someone I was told they didn’t want to talk to me and to send an email instead. So unprofessional.

I want a full inspection and monetary reimbursement from Blue Raven.

We sincerely apologize for this customer's negative experience. We are happy to see the technician who went out to the home was able to update the solar wiring to ensure a high quality install. We have scheduled the utility company witness test with Dakota Electric Association for 4/3, which is where the utility company tests and turns on the system on-site. We understand the frustration of the homeowner and would like to compensate him $500 for the inconveniences and absences.

      Business Response

      Date: 04/04/2023

Currently, we are in direct communication with the homeowner to get this resolved. We have scheduled the Regional Install Manager to go over to the home to inspect the system this week. As a sign of partnership, we have also increased our offer to $750 for the absences and inconveniences.

They installed solar panels on my new home in Greensboro, NC. It took them roughly four months to install them, and they damaged my siding. They drilled unnecessary holes in the siding, and they refuse to replace the siding panels they damaged. Instead, they offer to put a sealant on the holes and paint them. This is unacceptable. This is more than a cosmetic issue - if water gets behind the siding, it could cause the wood to rot.

At a minimum, I want them to replace my siding.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/23/2023

Our work orders management has evaluated the damage and determined that sealing the holes and matching the paint will be an adequate repair, and that replacing the siding is not necessary. The sealant prevents water from getting behind the siding, and we have no reason to expect any water damage from the sealant. We can have the sealed spots painted to match the rest of the siding, but we will not be replacing the siding.
      Thank you.

      Business Response

      Date: 04/04/2023

It seems we are at an impasse with the homeowner. As stated previously, we are happy to paint the conduit and holes to make the conduit less noticeable on the side of the home. We still do not feel it is appropriate to replace the siding as it was sealed properly. We have made our best offer, so we request the complaint be closed. If the homeowner is moving forward with legal action, we would request they email our legal team at [email protected] for further correspondence.

I am rejecting this response because the solar provider is not being honest. They did not seal all holes in my siding. As shown in the pictures I submitted previously, there are many holes in my siding that have not been sealed. I will see this company in court, and I hope their actions will adversely affect their BBB rating.

Solar panels were installed as agreed-upon on time. Solar production was guaranteed at 43% of my average electric bill. After reporting low production. The company agreed to install additional panels at my home, 11 in total Since then I have been strung along, delayed, hung up on, threatened with the police. This process has proceeded for the last nine months.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/23/2023

The homeowner has been in direct contact with leadership throughout the entire process. We are currently waiting for crew availability in the area to install the eleven panels we are providing at no-charge to the homeowner. We will continue to follow-up for availability to ensure he gets the panels installed as soon as possible. Additionally, we contacted the homeowner and asked him politely to discontinue reaching out directly to ************** as these communications need to go through our corporate office.

We had solar installed in June 2020. We were told at the time that the federal government was giving back with your taxes $14,500 and that was their big selling point. When I asked if it was just a tax credit, the young man insisted it was not he had just had a person that just got their $14,500 back and put it towards their bill. It happens all the time he said. So we agreed thinking that we would get that ****** back and we could just put that towards the $40,000 it cost to install. After the solar was installed, we have had nothing but trouble there hasnt two or three months between problems where its off grid or other problems. It takes usually weeks before you can get a technician out here to help. It is costing me more than twice as much as if I had just stayed on ***** power alone. This last problem was the gateway wasnt speaking to the grid so a technician came to fix that in November and December January the bill went up exponentially so I called ***** power. They said we are not getting anything from my solar. We havent since November about the time the man came to fix it so again we called and got somebody out here and the technician said yes its not talking to the grid it hasnt been since November and that the company should be paying us the difference because it wasnt fixed when the gentleman came out their response was they had already given us $50 for the last debacle which by the way cost me way more than $50 on my electric bill they didnt even have the common courtesy to call us. The person texted us to tell us that we should be thankful that we got the $50 and that they would not be helping us anymore. I just found out they have only two technicians for all of ***** , I feel lied to because I was lied to about tax refund and their customer service is horrendous and it doesnt seem that they can get this fixed. We appreciate any help. Also, I dont know really how much solar cost but $40,000 seems a little excessive, I could be wrong.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/14/2023

We apologize if there was any misunderstanding regarding the federal tax credit for residential solar. We strongly recommend that all customer's consult a tax professional regarding the solar ITC for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding this. Some of our sales teams may reference figures from other homeowners as an example, but this customer's estimated tax credit amount was clearly outlined on the proposal and home improvement contract, and was verbally confirmed with our support staff in a welcome call with the customer. As far as the system, our work orders team was able to resolve the issues, and have no reports of any issues related specifically to the net meter from **************. The communication gateway is solely for remote system monitoring, and does not interact with the grid in any way, and any issues specific to the net meter need to be addressed with the utility company. Based on the reports from Enphase, it's likely that lower production was a result of snow and other winter-related weather. A system not receiving enough sunlight will see a drop in production, meaning that the home is using any production immediately, and that none is being sent back to the meter.
      Thank you.

I'm a customer of **********************. I signed the contract i think on 7/29/2022 for solar panels. I was sold on the idea of having Solar panels that would fully offset the cost of my monthly power. The panels become fully working in December I'm not sure the day around the 20th. Problem i'm having is it is not offsetting my power I still have a very high Power bill! I talked with Blue raven about this issue and been given two choice to resolve it. They would pay me a one time payment for ****. Would not really cover or help very much. I still be stuck with a very high power bill and paying back a $30,377.00 loan at ****** a month for 20 years. The other choice I was given would be to add on more solar panels and have another loan. I would be paying for the original loan of ****** and would have to have another loan for $22,091 $83 dollars a month for 25 years. I would be having to pay ****** a month in solar panel loans. That would be more money than I'm paying now in power I would not be saving more. What I would like for them to take the solar panels back. I was promised one thing. Now being told it going to cost me way more money. I feel lied to and would never done it. I be willing to compromise if I could get one loan for 25 years so I would be able to save money! I still be angry I be willing to reach an agreement. I'm being very lied to by this business! but If the solar panels are removed my roof will be badly damaged! I could really use some help!

      Business Response

We apologize for the negative experience this customer has had thus far. We value all our customers and try our best to help them see the savings from solar as soon as possible. After reviewing the homeowner's utility bills, we determined the customer is using a lot more energy than what was originally estimated. We offered the homeowner additional panels at a significantly discounted rate so he would be able to see the savings from solar sooner, rather than later. Unfortunately, as stated to the homeowner multiple times before, his current loan is through a 3rd party financier, and his payments have already started, so we have no ability to buy back the current loan. Additionally, even if combining the loan was possible, it would do nothing to discount the monthly payments or provide any additional cost benefits than if he moved forward with two loans. We also provided the homeowner with a deep cost analysis that showed there is a cost benefit to moving forward with additional panels at the discounted rate. This is our best and final offer to the homeowner.
