I signed my solar contract with Blue Raven Solar on July 1, 2022 for a total of $49,500. In the brochure, it is stated that typical install to having functioning solar panels is 6-8 weeks. We have had negligence at every step. It is February 27, 2023 and we still do not have functioning solar panels. There has been no financial retributions given despite the massive delay and unprofessionalism. The company no longer responds to emails and has failed to communicate about timelines and expectations - despite promising to do so (written in email). We are also being charged for our panels even though they have not been turned on (illegal!). We have a hole in our ceiling that despite their "repairs", looks terrible. It's also caused a crack in our ceiling which will require additional repair work. The install team left trash and damaged roof shingles all over our yard, and insulation all over our home. We failed inspection multiple times - once due to incorrect electrical work, once because they didn't drop off new paperwork, and the third time because no one from Blue Raven showed up to the inspection. No apologies have been made and we've actually had quite the opposite from the Service team - laughing at the issues we are facing and then no communication at all. I have asked them to finish the job or take the panels off, repair the damage, and pay off the loan. They have not been open to either resolution. Instead, we have not heard from them since December 2022. At this point, I would like the panels removed, damages repaired, and the loan to be paid off by Blue Raven.

We apologize for the negative experience this homeowner has faced thus far. We value all our customers and try our best to help them see the savings from solar as soon as possible. If a delay by us has resulted in loan payments starting before a system is able to be turned on, we will compensate for that time. It looks like the customer has already been compensated for a month of her loan payments as well as $100 for overall frustration with the process. In December, we attempted to offer the customer additional compensation, but they declined and did not respond to us. We attempted to contact the customer multiple times regarding the additional visit to complete the repair for the ceiling, but we did not get a response. We have apologized on record multiple times, and would like to again apologize for the negative experience. Moving forward, we are currently waiting on Xcel to process the customer's interconnection application so we can submit inspection results and Xcel can order and install their new meter. We are willing to compensate the customer for the months they have had to make loan payments, and the remaining months until the system is energized.

Paid 30+ Thousand dollars on a solar panel system. It works fine. The installers drilled a hole through my siding into my bedroom without verifying what was on the other side thinking they were drilling in my attic. They ended up doing a crap patch job on my siding. I have been calling since they installed the system in September and I still can not get this resolved. Nobody will ever call me back. I just want my siding fixed correctly the way it was before they destroyed it. They were also supposed to hook up a consumption meter to the system. They didn’t do that either. They just left the parts at my house. I also called about that. I was told someone would get ahold of me but never did.

We apologize for this customer's experience. Our work orders team has reached out to a contractor in the area but has not heard back. They will be following up with the contractor to get an assessment completed as soon as possible. The team is also working on scheduling a CT consumption meter work order and is expected to reach out this coming week with a date on the calendar.
      Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:I finally got a response about my siding. Apparently someone is going to fix it. We will see. However nobody has yet to reach out about the installation of my consumption meter. How hard is it to call and schedule this? I’m sick of unnecessary stress.

We are happy to report the siding repair is being addressed. As for the consumption meter, upon further investigation, we found the homeowner's main service panel is not compatible with a consumption meter so we will be unable to install one. Due to the location of the main service panel, the wiring would need to be spliced which extremely reduces the accuracy of the CT meter.

The project started around November I entered into a agreement for Blue to install Solar panels in Early November 2022. It the end of February and the project is not complete. Several problems have happen during the process. 1. After the panel were installed the roof leaked and they still haven't completed the repair of the water damage to my home. My home is only 6 months old.2. Blue Raven schedule 2 inspections where I took off the day and the inspector never came. That was a complete waste of a day. 3. the first inspection never passed because the electrical wires were touching the roof, which is fire hazard.4. the sale rep solution to every. problem is call this member so I am dealing with the problem, he just passes the buck. I have requested a new sales rep and that hasn't happened yet. 5. the company has several departments that don't communicate with one another. I have asked to speak with an overall Manager and or person in charge. They will never provide me a central boss or person to visit with.6. The ******************** hasn't paid ******* Co Electric to hook up the meter to activate and energize the system. Everyone just keeps dropping the ball and nothing gets done. I want the stains on my ceiling repaired and the project completed. I request some compensation for the damage to my home and length of the project. or I would take Store credit. I just want the job completed and my water damage fixed.

      Business Response

      Date: 02/27/2023

We apologize for this customer's experience and for the delays in project completion and repairs. Our net metering team has sent another check to the customer's utility company with tracking to ensure that they receive it. We've followed up with our work orders team, and they have sent a request to a drywall contractor in the area. Once we have confirmation from the contractor, they will be contacting the customer directly to make repairs. As far as compensation, our team is offering the customer $200.00 in compensation for the delays and inconveniences.

      Thank you.

Blue Raven has been full of promises but  lacks follow through.   Until things are completed I will not approve the complaint.

Also the $200 offer, is a complete lowball offer    I would accept additional panels in kind if its cheaper for Blue Raven

      Business Response

At this time, $200.00 is our best and final offer. Adding additional panels at this stage would only drag the *********** further, and would cost far beyond what is warranted.  The tracking information provided by our net metering team shows that the check was delivered to ******* Electric by **** on March 2nd, so we will wait to hear back from the utility company regarding next steps, since we've already resubmitted the inspection results. Our work orders team has not heard back from the drywall contractor, so they will follow up or look for another contractor.

Because Blue Raven is long on Promising things and very short on follow through.  I think and check for $1000 is warranted because Blue Raven needs to make things right.   Thats my final offer.   $1000.  Appearing thats the Negotiation, technique Blue Raven uses.  That make a threat take it or leave it approach.

Unfortunately, we are unable to get approval for anything above $200.00. The delays put the project back about approximately 4 weeks, which we apologize for. The $200.00 in compensation is enough to cover about 2 months worth of the customer's financing payments and is currently the best offer we can make at this time.

I am rejecting this response because:

Yesterday BR energized the Panels.   All panels work except 2.   1 panel doesnt work at at all and 1 panel is working at 5%.  So we have that issue that came up. BR customer care said they will take care of that and send over a technician.  Well see when that happens and if they fix the issue. Also, the stains in my roof from the water damage have not been fixed or taken care of yet they keep promising a contractor that never shows up when I call the recommended contractors. They dont answer the phone. I really dont know whats happening there. It feels like they are just going through the phonebook or doing a ****** searches looking for people to fix the sheet rock. But so far none of these contractors seem to exist. Blue ribbon talks good game, but doesnt follow through.

it would be nice if somebody and management called me so we can work this out.

I had solar panels installed on my roof around October 2022. The process at first was fine, constant contact from the rep until we signed the contract papers. After that it was like pulling teeth to get any responses on next steps. It is now February 2023, we have the panels, multiple inspectors have come from Blue Raven, the energy company (Xcel), and local inspectors. There is still one last hang up as my panels are not yet "live". I am now in a spot where if I call the energy company, they say i need to contact Blue Raven, and if i call Blue Raven, they say its on the energy company. Customer service won't return my calls. The Net Metering team nor the energy company will return my calls or emails. And to make matters worse, im beginning my payments on the panels today even though Blue Raven stated I wouldn't pay anything for 18 months. I'm at a loss. This is a terrible company, I would not recommend to anyone.

The blue raven solar adventure began in October 2021. It then took 5 months before we got the solar panels. Which is way too long. We were told by our sales guy that we would be getting the 30% tax credit refund. He insured me that it was definitely real and told me about how much it would be. And said if we put that refund directly back to the the solar loan then our monthly payments will stay lower and a big chunk of the loan will be paid off. WELL we are getting a quarter of what they estimated we would get. That's ********. Especially since I have had a.super High nv energy bill all winter. More expensive then it was before we had the panels. But blue raven assures me the panels aRe all working correctly foR what they estimated. SO DID THEY ESTIMATE WRONG?? LIKE REALLY UNDERESTIMATE?? THISS WHOLE THING IS MORE EXPENSIVE THEN WE WERE LED TO BELIEVE. DEFINITELY NOT SAVING ANY MONEY. AND FOR WHAT!.? WHATS THE POINT.

      Business Response

We are sorry to hear about confusion regarding the residential solar ITC, and any delays that occurred during the process. The timeframes provided are only estimates, as we are unable to guarantee specific timelines. Solar installation is a complex process involving many factors outside our control, such as permitting approvals and utility delays. Per the home improvement contract, we only provide an estimate for what we believe the tax credit amount will be, and strongly advise that all customers consult a tax professional for details regarding this. The 30% ITC figure is provided by the US ********** of ****** and ************************* We recommend that the customer speak to a tax professional that is familiar with this ITC to see what other options they have.

Because that is not acceptable. We were promised we would save money. Which we are NOT. ALso our sale guy did NOT tell us the 30% was just an estimate. He did the math and wrote down the figure we would get back from taxes. Then told us if we pay that amount back to the loan our monthly pay would stay alot lower. I want more solar panels added so they actually power my house. And I won't have to pay nv energy ridiculous amounts ecery month. OR a refund in the difference they promised me so I  can PAY down the loan and keep our power affordable, like they promised me. And yes! Sales guy did promise we would save money.

      Business Response

      Date: 02/22/2023

All the estimates and disclosures are in the customer's home improvement contract. Per the contract, we can only guarantee production, not direct saving and offset, though we are able to add more panels via a retrofit project at a discounted rate. We strongly recommend that the customer speak to a tax professional that is familiar with this ITC to see what other options they have. The tax credit is 30%, but not all customers will be able to take advantage of the full credit right away depending on their tax liability, but the remaining amount does roll over for the following year.
      Thank you.

I purchased these panels under the pretense that I will be saving money. I recently learned that Blue Raven Solar stopped using the practice of estimating the kWh used per year because it was highly inaccurate. Instead of fixing their mistake, they want customers to pay for more panels. This is unfair because we were promised a savings on our energy bill. I need this error fixed at their expense since they stopped using this practice.

      Business Response

      Date: 02/11/2023

We are sorry to hear about this experience. Both our proposal and design & engineering teams still use yearly kilowatt-hour usages to create and design systems. This is our standard procedure, and a practice that we maintain for the vast majority of our projects. In the case of this homeowner's project, we have no full utility bills on file, and an 8-panel system was designed due to this lack of information. We apologize if there was any miscommunication or misunderstanding regarding the system size or expected production. The system is currently installed as contracted, and is producing to our estimates. We are willing to add panels via a retrofit project, but this is not something that can be done without cost.

      Thank you.

I had solar panels installed by Blue Raven. They came out and did a site inspection / approval before installation, and approved it, this included a roof inspection. I had the panels installed and they did a lot of damaged to *******, they broke shingles, wore off the mineral surface and now want to walk away. I now need a new roof where they worked and they do not want to take any responsibility for it saying the roof was old, it is around 16 years old and was a 40 year roof. This company seems to be shadier then shady with no one taking responsibility. It is my boss is out and I can not reach him or I talked to my boss and they will not take care of it. I am filing complaints with the attorneys generals office in two states against them and the contractors boards. Everyone that came here was new and was not sure of what they were doing and did a lot of damage, I am looking at between 20 and 30 thousand dollars and I want them to take care of the damage! if I did not hire them I would not be looking at this right now. CROOKS!!!!!

We purchased solar panels from Blue Raven Solar that were installed on July 11,2022. We were told that this setup would completely take care of our power bill and that they had a 25 year warranty and the best customer service and technicians around. Since installation we have constantly had between 2 and 8 solar panels that way under produce. Actually according to the average sunlight hours per day in ***** and the ***** of each panel all of our panels are producing less than 80% of what they are supposed to. I have called the company many times and the only thing they will do is send a technician out. Most of the time he never shows up. The couple of times that he has showed up he has said that he hasnt seen anything like this and doesnt know what to do. Today I was told that they believe my solar panels are producing enough and will not do anything else to help us. We were completely lied to and are now out thousands of dollars.

We are sorry to hear about this customer's experience. The bills that we were initially provided with to design the system had a usage of ****** kWh per year, and we designed a system for ****** kWh per year. We will be reaching out to the customer to get recent bills to see if this yearly usage has changed, as the system is currently producing to 92% of our estimates. Per the home improvement contract, we can only guarantee production and not offset. As far as the under producing panels, our technicians have tried different methods to determine the origin of the issues but have not been able to pinpoint the cause. This is a highly unusual situation, and we've scheduled technicians to come back out on February 7th to make another attempt. Each panel is rated to output up to 400 *****, but given the limitations with environmental and microinverter technological factors, a ************** is extremely rare. The production and output of the other unaffected panels is normal and to their specifications.
      Thank you.

I signed a contract with Blue Raven Solar on 02/3/2022. It called for my system, consisting of 8 solar panels rated to produce 140% of my home's past electrical consumption. When I questioned my sales rep. about the choice of 8 panels, he insured me that Blue Raven engineers are experts on these calculations and that I should rest assured that over the year, the 8 panels will reliably produce is hasienough electrical energy to reduce my energy bill to only a minimum fee to Portland General each month. My home was to be energy independent. This has not been the case. The system did produce excess energy during July-Sep. This credit was spent by November. Since then I have been paying both Blue Raven and PGE each month. My bills have risen, not gone down. Blue Raven has offered to "retrofit" my home with the additional panels needed at a cost of $1000 cash each, meaning that I could not finance this so-called retrofit. In addition, Blue Raven misrepresented itself as a "one stop provider" of solar technology and installation. They never told me that they were only a solar installation company that purchased systems from Enphase, another totally independent company. When Blue Raven technicians failed on at least 5 occasions to properly install a consumption meter in my system that would allow me to properly monitor how it was working, they blamed the product on what they described as a problematic, unreliable Enphase product and offered to give me my money back. I declined and opted to hold then responsible for what I had purchased from them: a reliable consumption meter that would let me know how much my home consumes each day. After at least 6 months, I have no working meter. What's more, if I reach out to another certified Enphase technology installer, my Blue Raven will drop my warranty on my entire system. So now Blue Raven decision makers hide in their offices and I only can speak to low-level staff, new ones every time I call who make me start from ground zero.

We are sorry to hear about this customer's experience. The system was designed to cover approximately 140% of their usage, based on the bill provided to us. Our team has reached out to him directly and has been working with him to get bills from PGE, as well as having a more senior electrical complete the consumption meter installation at no cost. Once we have the full bills from PGE, we will be able to better determine the issue.
      Thank you.
