Aptive showed up for an appointment on 12/21/24 in the middle of a snowstorm. I was notified of the appointment on 12/20/24 at 11pm via text. The Technician arrived at 7am to treat before I even knew he was there. The treatment was completed and Technician was gone before I could even meet him to tell him to not complete it due to the weather. I refused to pay the service and now have been sent to collections. Contract was cancelled via Aptive with zero recourse but to pay the bill, via **** in Account Management.Business Response

I did as the contract stated and emailed my cancellation request before the cut-off time of being charged. They are ignoring my cancellation requests (and I guarantee this is so they can charge me). I have sent in 3 requests (two with the completed signed cancellation contract, and one directly to the rep who signed me up after he sent me an appointment time and even said he would cancel me). After not receiving any confirmation of cancellation, but instead receiving appointment reminders I called customer service and waited an ungodly amount of time on hold only to be told I have to call from the number associated with our account in order to cancel. So the emails with signed cancellation confirmations apparently aren't sufficient. Me giving every single detail of our account information is not sufficient unless you call from the number they set you up with, they won't let you cancel. This company is a total scam! They told me to my face at my front door I had 10 days to cancel. I read the contract and it's 3 days. Incredibly misleading. They said someone would call to go over the contract. Never happened. They can't even get my address right, when they stood 2 feet from it on my porch. They have terrible customer service! No where in the contract does it state I have to call from the specific number. They lie to you in hopes you will miss the cut-off date.Business Response

Trying to contact Aptive Pest Control to cancel my subscription and Aptive customer service makes the claim they cannot find my account or billing, yet they bill my credit card monthly, even when they do not perform any service. These people are hiding, as I when I call, the call is switched to an off shore service center. I believe this company is bogus and stealing people money off their credit card.Business Response

Aptive company send sales persons to my door, I am elderly person, and misled me about their services and amount i had to pay. Promising that I could cancel the service at any time with no problem. Once I noticed that they were charging me every month instead of every three months. I asked them to cancel the service but they refuse to cancel the contract unless I pay $159.00 and they are giving me hard time and making it impossible to cancel their service.
The contract was signed on March and I was mislead by the sales representatives.
I am seeking for them to cancel my service without paying a penalty for it and reimburse of the $79.00 they charged me without making any service.Business Response

This company had a salesman walking door to door on Memorial Day trying to get new business. He used many deceptive tactics including saying he was servicing 20 homes in the area, showing a map with blue dots that didn’t match our neighborhood, and saying he spoke to my neighbor “Mr. ******” who does not exist as I know my neighbors. He claimed they were beating out the competition because of their great pricing. I told him I wasn’t interested as I have an annual contract with a competitor, who I know services the houses beside me and see routinely around the neighborhood.
He asked what I paid for all of the services and was in disbelief at what I paid. He told me no one pays that little for those services and proceeded to change his tactics from price to value. He began saying I had cracks in my foundation (I don’t as the competitor fills them in) and said an unkept lawn like mine (it has been raining so I haven’t had a chance to weed eat this week) attracts pests. I was insulted and feel these low brow tactics need to be addressed.
My family was trying to enjoy our last day of the long weekend and we get interrupted just to have our house and yard disparaged by a door to door salesman. I spend hundreds a year on pest control services, but I will not consider Aptive with these kinds of tactics.Business Response

We sold our home in Northfield and will be moving out. The contract we signed should be null and void once the home is sold. BUT APTIVE thinks they should now get contracted at our new home. But we already have a service there. So now they charged me $199 to complete my contract. This just seems wrong!Business Response

I have a no soliciting sign on my front door. I heard a friendly knock. I answered. I was surprised to see a young man I had seen on the corner earlier with an iPad. He told me he was from Aptive (and he had a jacket with that name on it). He started asking me about a service for spider webs. I pointed to my sign and he said, "That means nothing." I told him it did. He told me not to bust his chops. I asked him for a business card. He said that they don't use them anymore, since COVID. He did not produce any kind of employee ID.
This is not the first time that this company has knocked on my door soliciting something even though I have a no soliciting sign. The fact that he dismissed it intentionally is why I decided to file a complaint this time.
I really don't want to put up a "NO TRESPASSING" sign since it seems so unfriendly. I may have to do it if folks can't respect the NO SOLICITING sign.Business Response

In June of 2024 a sales rep talked me into 6 pest control services over a 12 month period, about $200 per visit, waiving the extra $199 charge for the first visit as long as I completed the 6 visits. On the 5th visit the visiting employee told me it was time to renew the contract to lock in the price, which I did not do. After the 6th visit I tried to cancel the scheduled visits many times. I received and email pointing out that their contract stated that it was a 12 visit, 24 month contract and I would be charged $199 to cancel! That was the first time I heard anything about 12 visits or 24 months! I trusted the sales rep and never opened the file that was emailed to me of the contract that I signed on his I pad. I have emailed and called Aptive Pest Control trying to resolve this, with no results. I called the sales rep who's cell phone number I saved and he told me that because of this and other problems with the company he no longer worked there and was sorry that he was involved in signing me up.
I never want to hear from Aptive again and I refuse to willingly pay $199 to cancel.Business Response

I canceled my pest control service with Aptive in April 2025. Shortly after, I received an email from their support team confirming cancellationbut it also stated that I was being charged a $199 initial discount reimbursement because I hadnt completed the full term of the agreement. While I later found that this fee is referenced deep in the service contract, this was never verbally disclosed to me at signup or during cancellation. I was never told that canceling early would void a discount and result in a penalty. Thats a major term and should have been clearly presented up front, not buried in fine print. Had I been aware, I would have reconsidered signing the contract.Instead of addressing my dispute, Aptive escalated this charge to a third-party debt collection agency (A.R.M. **************), who contacted me by email. While they sent a formal debt validation letter afterward, Aptive never gave me the opportunity to dispute the charge or resolve the matter before outsourcing it to collections. This felt coercive and was a poor faith move for a charge that was never clearly disclosed to begin with.I am requesting that Aptive:1. Immediately recall the debt from the collection agency,2. Waive the $199 fee,3. Confirm in writing that this charge will not be reported to any credit bureau and will have no impact on my credit ******** also asking Aptive to revise its sales and cancellation practices to clearly communicate any discount-related penalties at the time of signupnot after the fact.Business Response
