1 starTrying to help my 99 yr old mother get a better saving rate by opening a CAP ONE Saving account for her. Absolutely Impossible. I talked to several customer service people and a manager. NONE would help because I can't get my 99 yr old Mother's Driver's lic to them with her 3g flip phone which I provided for her in case she needs help. I should mention that I've been a CAP ONE account holder for several years but it was of no value. I am seriously thinking about taking all of my money and business to another Bank due to the lack of help from CAP ONE. One more think. I had Opened a CHECKING ACCT. Already. So I was only Trying to ADD a SAVING ACCT and DEPOSIT Money not withdraw fund.. Ridiculous. I would give Zero Stars if I could.Review fromCherie W

1 starI have gone round and round with Capital One representatives transferring me back and forth just to change the name on my account. They insist that I need to file a **9 which I submitted with the clarification that I am not a business. They refuse to accept the **9 and want me to lie and indicate that I am a business. They say it is required because of my debit card that was closed many, many years ago. All I have is a credit card. None of the other credit card companies are requiring me to file a **9. Capital One said the **9 isn't required for the credit card, just the banking side which as I said has been closed for many, many years. They refused to accept the **9 as submitted and refused to change my name. The number of hours spent with trying to get my name changed with them is ridiculous since so many of the credit card companies have been so simple to get my name changed. One supervisor just transferred me back over to the general credit card service line who had transferred me to the supervisor in the first place. This is not a customer service-oriented organization.Review fromDave D

1 starCapital One is a major disappointment and their customer service/dispute sector is difficult to deal with and does not offer resolution! I have cancelled my account and I will never again do business with them. It is clear that their dispute resolution process is not meant to resolve disputes but to drag out the process and to put all burden on the customer. This is totally unacceptable for any business!I was a Capital One card holder for more than a decade. I used their services and never had a dispute until June of this year. I filed a dispute on a charge for a service that I had cancelled. I tried to work with Capital One and they gave me the runaround. I was in communication with Capital One over the course of 10 weeks which involved five phone calls to them and paper documentation of the cancelled service and credit the vendor said they had issued to Capital One. Capital One was not able to resolve the issue. In fact, they said they couldn't help me because the original charge being disputed was more than 45 days old. They said this even though they had documentation in their files that we had had conversations and they had received documentation of the issues during that time! One of the more frustrating things during this process is that they would not listen to me. Instead, they would read their script and indicate they couldn't help me. They were very accusatory in their conversations even after they determined from my case number that we had been in contact numerous times to try to resolve the issues. Each time I called I had to listen to them read their disclaimers; tell me why they couldn't/wouldn't help me; go through the original timeline; and then realize that I had done everything I needed to comply with their process. The capper was when they told me that we had carried this beyond their dispute timeframe even though we had been in frequent contact during that time frame! They are getting one star because I can't provide a lower score!Review fromJulius R

1 starCapital One 360 uses questionable business practices (some might say shady) to detriment of their long term customers. The 360 Savings account is a grandfathered savings vehicle from the acquisition of the *********** days following that M&A deal. As of 9/10/2022 this account only pays an interest rate of 0.3%, same as their kids savings account. However, Capital One only advertises the 360 ******************* Account on their website, which currently pays ****%. Huge difference if you carry significant balances. Both names say ************************************************************************ the higher yielding account, but sadly they would be totally wrong. I spoke to a Manager named ***** in their customer service. He says that they don't ************************ communicate this crucial with existing customers. So, most loyal trusting customers don't even realize that they are in this "grandfathered" version of the account that pays 6x less in interest. Capital One is happy to make you find out the hard way after 3 years of missing out on the much better deal. They won't even do the courtesy of converting your account either. They force you to open a new one in hopes of also getting new money. **************** is horrible and unapologetic, which tells me this is intentionally a part of their business mode!! Do yourself a favor and Stay away!!! Don't reward their dishonesty. There are other high yield savings accounts with much better customer service, honest ********************** practices and more competitive interest rates. Discover Bank has been great so far but there are many other good options. NerdWallet is a great source to compare rates and customer service reviews. I'm not very happy with Capital One 360 though. *** was much better!!Review fromMs A

1 starCapital One is the worst bank I ever dealt with. I absolutely despise them all the way around please do not bank with them or get a credit card with them. I want to start off by saying I have a credit card with them, and I pay my credit card bill on time every month I ask for a credit line increase after they sent me something saying I qualified for an increase for them to decline the increase. Then I have a checking account with them, and I deposited a check through mobile banking, and they held my funds after it already cleared from the other bank because they wanted to.They told me a number of lies and held cleared funds for no reason. My account has always been in good standing no nsf's, no overdrafts or anything negative with my accounts and they said I had to have my checking account opened for 6 months for the cleared funds to be released early. The crazy part is, I was days away from it being 6 months that I had the account opened. They still held it even when I made the 6-month **** and said they apologize but I had to still wait for my money and as I stated the check had cleared with the other banking institution, I will not ever use this account again I plan to tell everyone I know to never bank with them they are awful, and the customer service *****.Review fromRichard N.

1 starI just called them to report a fraud attempt and to get help - the customer service was the WORSE WORSE I have ever experienced; the agent's accent made it difficult to understand. I was on the call for 21 minutes and they kept asking me the same questions over and over and I know they understood because if they asked for a number, I gave it, and then they verified repeated what I gave them - then is that correct - I answered YES. They refused to address the two questions I called about - just only went thru this verification process and after two identical processes they said my card could not be verified and that I must have other cards. It kept getting more and more insane so asked to speak to supervisor and then they give me another 800 number that doesn't answer Capitol One but some other name and then tell me this contact is closed call back tomorrow. Of course how can I verify that this new number IS IS Capitol One after just being scammed by imposters. Absolutely unbelievable. I locked my card as didn't know what else to do to prevent fraudulent charges. DO NOT DO CAPITOL ONE IS MY OPINION.Review fromChristina P

1 starI feel very frustrated, I have been a customer since 2015. I had 2 cards with them paid on time but due to Covid 2022 had some financial problems . In June ***************************************** so I went ahead gave it a couple of days and schedule a payment . Unfortunately that payment didnt come in and the payment schedule was returned. I did make a payment on one but forgot to pay on the other. In August the check I expected had came in so I set up a payment schedule for full amount balance on cards.I used my new account information (I had just opened a new checking acct) but by my mistake I put in a wrong number so guess what that payment returned too! When I saw that it returned I called my bank to see why it was returned, since I had money in my account. Bank advise maybe I put a number in wrong because they had not seen the request for those payments. I called Capital One to advise for mistake that happened for those payments , I ended up just making payments over the phone with customer service . I was notify by customer service that my accounts were closed!! I was WHAT!! Remember I have been customer since 2015 no issues with me not paying on acct. I ask rep to please get a manager so I can find out why they closed my accounts. Manager verified that they were closed and verified what I was telling him about me by error putting wrong bank acct #on payment because he was able to see that it rejected invalid acct (not non-sufficient funds). I tried for them to reopen due to error that they were able to verified and a return due to insufficient funds but they said NO they couldnt ! My question is you had a customer that was in excellent status but due to error and financial hardship at that time you can just close account . I feel it was very unfair for there actions and it counts against me for my credit because they closed acct so my credit score went down! I dont know what else to do?? Very unhappyReview fromeric g.

1 starHorrible customer service, opened checking account and deposited a check from a customer. They put a hold on it fir 7 days. Typical I thought for amount of check and new customer. But they pulled money from customer who wrote check and after 7 days still would not allow access to money. Saying they had to verify from person who wrote check, even after they had already received money. Beware of Capital One, they are not customer friendly and if you ask me very crooked.Review fromMoe Z

1 starI got a cash advance of $100 from a Capital One credit card in 2018. Every month, they charge interest for cash advance and purchases separately, I finally realized it and I called them to ask if I could pay off my cash advance loan since after 4 years, I already paid more than $1,000 for a loan of $100. They told me I have to pay off the entire credit card is my only option. I consider this a steal. I would like people to know to avoid borrowing cash on credit card so not to fall on this trap. That's the way these banks get rich, preying on people in dire need!
