I have No Contract with them, as they are reporting incorrect info on my credit report. They are reporting that I owe them money. why should I pay for something the Original Creditor already got paid for when they "Wrote it off!! This false information is hurting my credit score. Upon reviewing my credit report I came across an account from Convergent Outsourcing in the amount of $557.00. I have never had an account with this company. Today, on 9/6/22 at 12:44pm ET, I called Convergent Outsourcing after noticing a fraudulent collections account on my credit reports from several credit monitoring alerts I received on 9/3/22 & 9/4/22. Upon speaking with a Collections Agent named ******* to report this fraud, she pretended to empathize with my frustration of having gone through identity theft twice in one month, but then turned around and asked me on the call if I would be open to paying a reduced amount of the debt to have it removed from my credit report?? How cold and uncompassionate can a person be where their greed trumps being a human. What part of my Identity was stolen to open this account wasn't clear to her? I then requested to speak with a Supervisor after feeling rushed off the phone and not at all satisfied with her responses to how a fraud case should be handled, especially when I literally just experienced similar fraud with another utility company. Convergent is acting on behalf of ************* to collect a debt that does not belong to me, I do NOT live in the state of *****, never have. Back to the call being transferred to a Team Lead named **********************, who also seemed very clueless and confused about the fraud process as if this were their first time ever hearing about identity theft. I asked ******* about their fraud process, who specifically handles it, and once fraud is proven, when I would be issued a deletion letter for my records. She very coldly stated "we wouldn't issue you a letter if fraud was proven, we only would delete the account and you could call us for updates". What???? It seems that no one there has ever heard of FCRA rights. You HAVE to provide an identity theft victim a confirmed ID theft and deletion letter for their records and for them to provide to the credit bureaus. I could easily prove this account to be fraud in less than 2 minutes as it's so obvious. I request this fraud account to be removed ASAP and a letter issued to me urgently.Business Response
