On 6/6/23 I entered parking lot U001 as I have multiple times before for lunch at Zegfrieds. The lot was open with no instructions on where or how to pay. The guard station was completely gone. I continued and parked hoping to find a way to resolve payment. Upon returning I found an astronomical bill for $61.50. I dont mind paying for parking but this seems over the top for 3 hours. If youre not supposed to parking there then close the lot..simple.

It's been my recent experience that Diamond Parking Service uses the design of a misleading sign on a specific hybrid reserved/paid parking lot in the downtown area of **********, at *********************************** The sign clearly states at the top of its sign in large bold, legible white text highlighted by red "RESERVED: MON-FRI 6AM-6PM", and below, extra large, bold blue text "Paid Public Parking". Looking at the sign, I understood this as "Okay, this lot is reserved for Paid Public Parking during weekdays 6am-6pm, like our city's street parking in paid parking until 6pm"; however, it turns out that in the smaller, thin red text below the "Paid Public Parking" it reads "OUTSIDE OF RESERVED HOURS". This text is the smallest of the three texts I mention, un-highlighted, and its design resulted in my partner and I to overlook and miss it entirely, because its graphic design does not treat it as equal in importance to the reserved hours stated at the top. As there are no explicit hours stated for the time when this lot *is* paid public parking, such as "Mon-Fri after 6pm and Sat+Sun 12AM-11:59PM", it's then also not consistent with how it conveys this information, instead relying on the small, bottom text to infer the opposite of the bold and expressly states hours at the top. My partner read and understood the sign the same as I did and so they received a ticket for misunderstanding the sign and parking there after 6pm for 5 minutes to run an errand. We contested the original privately issued ticket/$41.50 fee, and they lowered the notice fee to $8.68 plus a $1 "handling fee", which we now have paid in the interest of letting it be a weird ****** learned. I think it's (unsurprising but) strange that Diamond doesn't bother to post any signage next to their main sign in this lot that would warn of private tickets being written if cars are found parked in violation of its unclear rules and regulations. If they really wanted to be clear to people who may park here, Diamond would then bother to be explicit about the times and terms of parking in their lots. Clearly, the oldest parking service in the world has endured solely because it doesn't seek to operate in an honest and straight forward capacity.

      Business Response

Thank you for your feedback after parking with us.  The location is reserved during the daytime between 6AM-6PM for permitted vehicles only and is available for paid public parking outside of the reserved hours.

I can understand that you were trying to do the right thing and our goal, as the oldest parking company in the world, is to build happy and repeat customers so I will refund the payment that you made.

We appreciate the feedback about the terms and conditions signage.  We have taken this opportunity to review *********** at this location and as a result of your feedback, we are making adjustments to make the parking experience easier for the customer.

I will look forward to helping serve your parking needs in the future and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

March 15th, 2023: Address: **************************************** parking lot. It was a very windy day in that area on that day.I was in ********* on business. I parked at a *****'s location because I had some business to do in that *****'s location. I was driving in a Budget Rental vehicle. The parking lot did not state a maximum amount of time so I thought it would be fine to conduct my business there. The signs stated that it is for customers only. At the end of my meetings I bought my food and therefore I was a customer. No where on the signs do they state that purchases must be made at the beginning of your visit and not the end of your visit.I only saw one entrance when arriving at the location. It was the street entrance. Since I was not familiar with the area I did not see the entrance from the parking lot since it was up some stairs. I had meetings with my party that lasted 4hours. Then I bought some food from *****'s before heading to my car. Then I drove to my hotel. On May 30th,2023,Budget charged my Mastercard because of a parking ticket. This was a shock to me since I was not notified of this ticket since I did not see it in the first place on the car I rented. I talked with Budget and they said they would reverse the charges once I talk with Diamond Parking to dispute it and have proof that they stated that it was successfully disputed. I called Diamond and not only were they rude to me, they would not reverse the charges because it was already paid. Paid by Budget. Which Budget charged my Mastercard for it. So I am stuck in a catch 22 situation. I am convinced that Diamond will ticket rental vehicles to exploit this catch 22 lope hole. I will be disputing this with Mastercard. But their customers service is laughable. They called me names and insinuated my intelligence just because I did not know the area well enough to realized that there was another entrance. They called me a child, they tried to gaslight me. They are a horrible company.

I would like to dispute the parking ticket ref #********** . The vehicle was not in a parked state but was with lights on and engine running, my wife was sitting on the passenger seat with the window shield's open. The driver(me) stepped out for a minute to look at the street which was crowded on a Sunday afternoon to look at where the restaurant ****** Burger was on the street and to additionally look into the rates for parking at this location ************** After checking the rates, which were not visible from where the vehicle was stopped, in the lot, I would have paid a 0-1 hour rate of 4$. I saw this individual, who seemed to be checker #***** taking a photo of the license plate and I rushed to the vehicle to see what was going on, the ticket was created and handed in my hand despite me talking to the person about the incident. I tried to talk to the person but the person was in a rush and was trying to avoid a conversation and explain what happened. The person ignored my wife sitting, trying to talk to me and just said call the number on the back. This is predatory and I have been asked to pay $65.50 in 15 days and $102 after that. I sent an email multiple times but haven't gotten since last 5 days.

Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention.

After thorough research and careful consideration of the parking notice and your explanation, we have decided to void the parking notice as courtesy. Our parking  checkers are trained to issue of parking notice for vehicles without a valid payment, as they are unable to determine the duration of parking for each vehicle. However, it is the responsibility of the driver to ensure proper payment before leaving the parking lot.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter and thank you for your cooperation, Should you have any further questions or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to **.

I need your help in resolving a parking charge inappropriately levied against my vehicle. On June 01, 2023, I drove to ******************** to purchase ice cream. The parking lot was generally empty so I parked my car under a tree for shade. Given my relatively early arrival sometime after 9 am, I realized that I might not be able to served (as the company's ice cream service normally begins some minutes later. Given the need to also check the closing hours on the door at an ICBC office next door, I walked across to the adjoining property to get the information and to inquire of a friend there what I could get them from ********* next door. After a few minutes I returned to the ********** restaurant to order my ice cream which was to be taken home, but was informed by the counter attendant that their ice cream machine would not be ready till 11 am. At that point I realized that the wait time would be nearly an hour and that I had other time consuming things to do elsewhere so I purchased a chicken sandwich instead (for which I secured a receipt) before exiting the property. On returning to my car, I noticed a small yellow paper obscurely affixed at the far right end of my wind-shield wiper. I stopped the car, and removed it, opened it up to see an $85 ticket, levied by Diamond Parking Limited, PO Box *****, in *****************, that penalized me for parking and "walking off the property" in violation of some obscurely posted (rules) signage far removed from the location of my parked car. The company has refused to rescind the ticket and is threatening to send a wrecker for my vehicle should I park elsewhere on any of their assigned properties across metro *********.This is clearly unprofessional intimidation and harassment of a law-abiding citizen.

Dear ***/*****, I apologise for the tardy response (due to the fact that I was in the hospital) to your inquiry pertaining to whether or not the issue with Diamond Parking Services of *********, ** has been resolved. The answer is no. They have tried to reduce the fine from $87 to $45, while totally disregarding the fact: a) that I was a customer of the ********** establishment, and b) my ice cream order was delayed by the server due to a late start-up of the ice cream machine which then caused my to step away from the store for a few minutes to talk with someone on a adjoining/next door lot for a few minutes in anticipation of delayed ice cream service. After a few minutes in conversation nearby I then returned to order a chicken sandwich given the longer than anticipated wait before leaving the premises to attend to important business elsewhere. That's when I saw their dubious parking ticket attached to my windshield wiper. Please note that there was no clearly placed signage warning that ********** customers are liable for walking off the premises for any length of time leaving their car on their parking lot (given that I am a visitor to ******).

      Respectfully yours,

The tickets are Notice #******** and #********, which were issued to me at *****************************************************. Hello,

Thank you for your email.  Our goal with any customer, is to provide the reason the notice was issued, find a resolution and to prevent it from happening again in the future.
Please note that this location is private property and all parking rules have been created by the property owner(s).  Diamond Parking has been hired to enforce these parking rules as posted on the property, due to the unauthorized use on the facility.  The lot in which you were ticketed is a pay parking lot unless validated by entering your code at the machine.  Our patroller has no way of discerning how long your vehicle would remain parked without having paid past the ************.  You received 2 tickets for the same reason, failure to pay or not entering the codes while utilizing YMCA.  We have however, reviewed your case/appeal and as a one-time courtesy will void one notice and reduce the second to $46.50.  To have the billing adjustment take effect please contact our office at ************ and quote your reference numbers by Friday June 9th 2023.  Thank you.  Have a great day!

I am rejecting this response because the message I received from the business is not the same message indicated here. The message I received says "Notice ************ ** was issued correctly as the vehicle in question had broken our terms and conditions for parking in this location. Diamond Parking does not offer ***** periods to park for free on our lots. Based on the lot location and notes, we are able to offer a one time courtesy void, we will no longer offer any more voids or reductions going forward: all notices will stand as is."

I would like the statement retracted that says they "will no longer offer any more voids or reductions going forward: all notices will stand as is." Without this retraction, they could ticket me again when I pay them in full for parking.

      Sincerely,

I received a parking violation notice # ******** on 13 May 2023. I am the resident of this building since over an year and never saw any signage saying it is reserved or something. It happened two times already and when I disputed earlier, they reduced the charge to about 60% and then I paid. This time they denied it and asking me to pay in full. We checked the location over and over again, and we were confused because the area we parked did not have any marking or an indication there was to be a charge. There should be notices in each parking section, as well as numbered parking so that we could know we needed to avoid parking there in our area. Please consider better signage and numbered parking spaces to make it fair and ethical. I have attached receipts of earlier two incidences, our lease to confirm our address and few pictures of where I parked, and it is not marked or indicated that it belonged to only the customers of that business. Please dismiss this ticket as I cannot afford to pay it. Thank you,

      Hi,

This is the second notice for the same infraction.  You have been given a reduction on your first notice as a courtesy and advised this is private property.  There are signs posted throughout the property.  These should have been sought out after the first notice to inform you of the rules of the lot.  Parking in a different area of the location does not change the violation.  One last courtesy will be extended.   We will reduce the notice to $65.  If you choose to accept the reduction, you can contact our office and quote your reference number by the end of day Friday May 25th, 2023.  Please be advised that if a notice should be issued for same infraction again in the future, it will be valid in full.  Thank you.

      Complaint: 20062407

I am rejecting this response because:

Honestly, there are no such signs at this parking lot. As I am the resident of this area, I can confirm that there are no signs in these particular parking lots saying it is private property or parking is allowed only for few hrs etc. Our building is next to these parking lots and there are parking lots for our building as well where we park our cars regularly. As sometimes there is no parking space available on our side, we park our cars to the adjacent lots (because there is no signs!).

Last incident happened because of the same reason - there was no signs. Now this time I parked to different location and avoided the earlier lot. Simply speaking, if I have paid fine for earlier incidence, why should I do the same mistake? You have to accept the fact that there are no proper signs for these particular parking lots. Please take action on that first - so that innocent residents like me do not have to suffer and 'learn' these new and strange surprises at such exceptional costs.

I am firm at my position, please void my ticket in full because I had no intention to park my car at a 'private property', which is not proved because of lack of proper signs.

      Sincerely,

On 4/17/2023 I was trying to get donuts from ************. It was dark, pouring rain and the parking was impossible that night so I parked on the side of the road behind KeyBank. When I came back a few minutes after, I had a ticket from Diamond Parking services (reference# **********) stating I had not provided advance payment. There were a few signs near other establishments, however nowhere near where I parked. This is not only predatory but also unethical. How am I supposed to know where the area of parking starts or ends when there's no clear signage? To makes matters worse, the notice stated that I had to pay $65.50 if I paid within the first 15 days or bump it up to almost double to $102.00 if I was unable to make the payment within that timeframe. I tried calling and finding a solution to this with no success.
