The communication was a little tough at the beginning of the process, but once things got rolling I understood that PATIENCE, was the key. If you are in a hurry for an order of a first time custom map, then order something else. The detail of the maps has to be exact, no room for error and that all takes time. 1 starThey dont deliver. Or even respond. I ordered a custom golf map in November 2023. It is now almost the end of June 2024 and I still have no product. I have emailed them via their website multiple times. No response. I called in early May and they did respond to my voicemail. I was promised that my map would be sent in June. I still have no product. I feel duped, frustrated, and stupid for ordering from this company.Review fromKristin F

1 starThis business is an absolute joke. I placed an order on Nov 9th, 2023 which was well within their advertised time frame for a Christmas delivery. It is now June 21, 2024 and I have still not received a product or my requested refund. I called monthly and each time was assured that it was in process, it was just taking longer than expected because they had never done this particular lake before, etc. Each time I was given a new delivery date- "Definitely by New Years", " Probably sometime in February", "Looking more like April..." They have never responded to an any of my emails and eventually they stopped answering my calls. Do yourself a favor and avoid this scam of a "company" at all costs.Review fromJim W

On June 10, 2024 I posted a critical review of Sportsmans Connection and now Id like to amend what was said.The owner contacted me and we discussed the situation. As the voice on the answering device says, they are a small, family owned business. Ive seen their product, and Ive never doubted the quality. I told him that over-promising and under-delivering is the customer service kiss of death. He knows. I didnt order a wooden map but rather one of their printed guides. He was able to find a solution for us.In this day and age, weve all become accustomed to the immediacy (internet) we take for granted. Its fair to voice our complaints, and just as fair to pump-the-brakes when you realize everyone is working hard to do the best they can. I stand by this amendment and lets just say I have a better understanding of what theyre up against.The owner didnt contact me and blabber on about nothingness. He explained their production challenges in a relatable way. He is a stand-up guy and everyone deserves consideration. Theyre doing their best and Im confident of that.If the BBB would kindly remove my post from June 10, 2024 Id appreciate it.Sportsman's Connection

I just received my custom lake portrait! Absolutely beautiful! My husband and family will love it. I will present it to them at dinner. It represents a lake that we have lived on for 25 years. We will hang it at the cabin. Absolutely breathtaking! Im so glad I purchased this for my family! Thanku to this wonderful company!Sportsman's Connection

Beautiful quality wood lake map. Took about 3 weeks, but when I asked for update they were very responsive with updates. I'm very happy with the finished product. I think I'm gonna make a custom barnwood frame for it.Sportsman's Connection

Brandon at Sportsman’s Connection has been great. The map took longer than expected because of having to built from scratch. I received the map and there were a couple issues which then then sent me an entirely new map. Would definitely recommend.Sportsman's Connection

1 starOrdered a map for my dad as a joint Christmas/birthday gift back in late November 2023. I saw their ******** ads and thought it would be a great gift idea. I got a postcard from them in December saying they were "working hard" on completing my order. I got an email from them in April saying my map had moved to "in progress". Silence followed. It is now June, and since ordering my map 7 months ago, I emailed them about a dozen times asking for order updates, to no avail.I finally called their support number and was able to leave a voicemail. I threatened to file a chargeback by the end of June if I didn't hear back from them and said it's beyond ridiculous, I spent $300 on a map and received no updates on its production or whereabouts. Within an hour of leaving that voicemail, I got a call back from some customer support guy saying there was some confusion with the golf course I requested, and he apologized profusely for the delays and called it "beyond unacceptable". He said if it's not shipped by the start of next month to call them back and gave me the extension for one of their product executives. He said to call him directly if the order is delayed, damaged, or not up to my expectations in any way. While I appreciate the immediate feedback, I'm beyond furious that a gift for my dad's 60th birthday is going to arrive more than halfway to his 61st. I'm leaving this 1-star review as a warning to all future buyers. If the map shows up "on time" and to my expectations, I'll revise it up as a show of good faith and recognition that this customer support guy was being honest about the delays. I hope this review is a ****** to SCMaps that their current form of business is horrible and dishonest, and they need to change and be more transparent.Review fromKaleb B

1 starThis company is the perfect example of how not to run a business. I ordered my map 12/02/2023 and figured that it wouldn't be done in time for the holidays being a custom engraved piece. The first time I reached out was 01/05/2024 asking for any updates as I had not seen any progress through my account on their website, they responded 01/25/2024 apologizing for the late/ no response and update. They then went on to tell me they were looking at about 8-12 weeks once orders go into "production" and offered an "free" polyurethane coating to make up for delay, so decided to give them the 8-12 weeks as they changed my order status to "in production" that same day giving me a little hope. Here were are going into week 19 from the day they marked my order status as "in production", all I'm looking for is a response to any of the 6 messages/ emails asking for an update and an explanation for the abysmal business practice of being months behind on orders and still push promotional offers like crazy, and letting disgruntled former employees fill the rest of us in on how under staffed you guys are, truly unfortunate as I feel you guys have a good idea for product lines and obviously have no problems selling them, but scaling, production, and customer support are completely non-existent. Shame we have to resort to typing negative reviews on the BBB website to get any sort of response from the company. For those wondering, on Reddit there was someone claiming to have worked for SC Maps as a cartographer, by the sounds of it, they had just recently quit because of the sheer volume of backed up orders and only having two cartographers on staff and became overwhelming. I'm sure you can find the thread if you search for it, I believe they mentioned when they quit they were working on orders from late October 2023, but who knows, still more information than I've gotten from SC Maps.
