1 starHands down one of the worst experiences I have had with a company. SIXT in Miami International Airport Did not have the car I had already paid for months in advance. Representative "offered" a free upgrade. Then stated that I needed to pay an additional 500$ as a deposit that would be refunded once I return the vehicle. I trusted the representative and paid the deposit and grabbed my rental. Did not have much of a choice after getting off of my flight and needing to drive my family to our vacation destination. After unpacking, I check my reservation status and it now showed I was charged 240$ for the upgrade and not a deposit. I called the customer service and was told there was nothing they could do until I return the Vehicle and then to call back to file a ticket. Once again, I trusted the company and did just that. I called and submitted my information, and they would not give me the ticket number for reference until I persisted. I was told I would receive a phone call in the next ***** hours and if not, I was to call back and they would assist me in contacting the branch manager. I never received said call. On day 3, I called and explained my situation and was told the branch manager verified said charges with customer. Once I stated that I had never got a call I was hung up on. I called back and after giving the ticket information, I was hung up on again. This happened 3 times! 4th attempt I was finally given just an email address to the branch manager. I have not been contacted at all by this company to explain any charges. I have been repeatedly ignored and told there is nothing they can do. I have been hung up on time after time. These lies at the counter about charges, Shady customer service tactics, and constant run around are just some of the Poor business practices shown by this company. Absolutely would NOT recommend this company to anyone.Review fromScott C

1 starThey are not ethical, honest and only want to profit off the cutomer. STAY AWAY from them. No policy in place for fuel. My car was less then 1/2 full when I got in. They don't do anything normal here. Charged me $150 for 6-8 gallons of gas.Review fromZachary P

1 starSixt Rent A Car took my reservation for a mid-sized vehicle. On the day of pick-up, they informed me that they don't have any vehicles of that size. They gave me 2 options: pay a cancellation fee or rent a significantly more expensive car. The worst experience I have had with a rental agency. Stay away.Review fromApril M.

1 starI rented a *** series 3 or equal vehicle. I ended up not being able to get it because I did not have a major credit card for them to hold. I didnt know this but it was online so thats not my issue. They gave me a discount on an SUV. The first SUV I got had a check engine light on and a qtip in the inside door handle. They had to give another lower class SUV. They said I would get the refund for the discount when I returned the vehicle. I returned it September 5, 2022. Today is September 15, 2022. I still have not received the discount. I have a receipt from SIXT showing the discount on it. I emailed about the discount refund last Thursday. They told me to contact Expedia. I did an online chat with Expedia last Friday night. I sent them both the receipt and the email that told me to contact them. The Monday After I called Expedia SIXT sent me a new receipt without the discount. They repeatedly emailed with Expedia telling them they dont do refunds. Finally I got an email from Expedia today saying to call Expedia about my refund. I call and they tell me to call SIXT and give them my card info and I will get the refund. I called SIXT and was told they wanted copies of my bank statement. I asked for a supervisor and she hung up on me. I just want my discount.Review fromChrista T

1 starSixt rental is all about scamming their out of state customers on tolls. They offer a ridiculous toll package of $27 a day. If you elect not to have it and to pay your own tolls be aware that they have unmanned toll booths in NY and other areas that give you no option to pay for the toll when driving through. When the toll fee is received by SIXT they in turn give you a five dollar fee for EVERY SINGLE TOLL BOOTH MISSED. Our toll fine was more then the amount of the actual tolls!!! How is this ethical? It is just their way of taking your money. Then when I say that is outrageous their response was you can take an alternate route. We don't know where you are driving. Right. But you also know that your state has these unmanned toll booths and yet no one informs you of that. When you travel out of state how in the world are you supposed to know that?? They just say if you get any tolls they will be charged to the method of payment used for the rental. Hmmmm Does that sound like you are informed as to what is going to happen as an out of state traveler? No not at all. Then claim they train their staff to to offer additional services. Oh you may offer it but you don't go into detail on it. Nor do you say it is a five dollar fee FOR EACH TOLL. Its in the fine print though. What a rotten way to treat your customers. Our tolls and fines were as much as the rental. How is this legal? How is that allowed to charge someone for each toll is beyond me. I could see one fee for missing them but not a five dollar per toll fee. Outrageous and this is why they will never get my business again. Also why I am leaving this review. Be aware of what you are signing. This company is out to scam people that don't know. SO be aware people. Be aware. Hertz and Budget may be a little more but in the end they never price gouge you over a toll fee. I don't want to even leave one star. But they will not allow me to leave a review without a star rating.Review fromSerene W

1 starDO NOT USE SIXT!We prepaid a car rental through Sixt and arrived to our destination to find the Sixt counter closed. Our flight was delayed 2 hours due to a storm, and we were exhausted and eager to get our car. However, there was no one to reach online or by phone through Sixt and we were forced to make other transportation arrangements. Of note, during the rental purchase process there was no indication that rental counter was not open ****. The next morning we called Sixt and were told that we should send an email to request refund with proof of our flight delay. We did this and received a response that no refund will be provided. The email from Sixt included links to policies that refer to cancelation but we did not cancel. We wanted the services we paid for and Sixt was unable to deliver. Sixt provided nothing to us but poor customer service. This was my first and last time using this company. If I could rate a Zero, I would.Review fromIsmael R

1 starI have used SIXT in the past in ****** and had a wonderful experience which is why I thought Id try again. However, when I used it in *** I shouldve read the reviews about the countless accusations of damage and other claims to vehicles. The car we drove was great, loved everything about the car. Upon returning the car we were greeted by an attendant who seemed in a rush and frustrated. He advised us to leave the keys in the rental car and head up the stairs to catch the shuttle before we missed it. He was very pushy about it. We left the keys in the door panel of the drivers side. I shortly received an email later saying that I successfully returned my vehicle. Over 24 hours later they called and left me a very abrupt voicemail saying that we took the keys with us and need to overnight them now. I tried calling the number back over 10 times and no one answered. I have tried everyday since they called, still no answer. I called their corporate number and filed a complaint, and still have not had anyone reach out to me about it. Then, this morning I received an email about a damage claim that has been opened because we didnt return the keys. I still have been unable to reach anyone to discuss this further and they are about to charge me a whole lot of money for something thats not true at all. After reading all the other reviews about similar claims from other people, I regret my decision to rent from them and will avoid them in the future! There is a reason they are cheaper than the other rental companies. BEWARE!Review fromChris S

1 starDO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!After leaving the airport and driving on the interstate the hood was bouncing slightly. After stopping and checking the hood, it would not stay down all the way but was latched. When I turned it back in and told the employee about it, he said it was probably prior damage and that the car wash does that sometimes. 1.5 months later Sixt then sends me a damage repair bill for almost $500 to repair the hood. They probably wouldn't even have known about it if I did not report it. I rented the car in ************** and dropped off in *******. This damage looks like some how the corner of the hood was hit and possible bent/warped the hood. I would like to know how they think I did this without any other damage to the front of the car. I have tried to call for the last 2 weeks but there phone says every time the they are experiencing a brief outage of phone and systems. I have also sent the several emails with questions and I just get back what seems like a r template response of "according to your agreement...", and no responses to any of the questions. Funny how they can send me a repair bill with the systems down, but not talk to me on the phone.
